PAL Charts - Week 1, 2013 - Prepare the Vita Chamber! Patient Wii U on Route!

Ooooooooook.

Well, someone else will have to do it. Sorry. :) Too much real work work to do.

Hopefully MCV UK will just post it on their public site eventually.

don't listen to him, he wants it typed out so he can crtl + f instead of reading the entire chart. ;p

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Would count as a scan. Someone will have to go typey typey tip tap on it.

The biggest problem with PES is the shitfest they call online gaming. It's archaic but that wouldn't be so bad if it worked correctly. Also they need licenses and they need them bad, seems like each year they have less teams.

Holy shit @ bolded.

It's not too surprising when you look at this

Over a year after release and it's still sitting in the top 10 best sellers across Europe.

Why PD hasn't churned out a GT6 at this point is ridiculous. They've literally left hundreds of millions of dollars on the table this generation. If I were Sony I would clean house, starting with Yamauchi. No matter how good the product, management is fucked up.

This continues to be a ridiculous suggestion. For starters, the idea of firing Kaz is asburd when you take into account all the car industry connections that the guy has. He's good friends with major players at car companies as well as drivers (like Sebastian Loeb). Don't underestimate the role that things like that have with the series continued popularity. And from a gaming standpoint, he's responsible for creating the series that's constantly the best selling first party game that Sony releases. GT5P and GT5 are the two best selling first party titles released from Sony this gen.

Sony has created many series over the years and GT is the one series that's really still standing from the PSone era. Others are either dead or probably won't see a sequel any time soon. There are a variety of reasons for that. But one of the main reasons is that Sony has done a poor job of handling their games. In some cases they've handed the series off to lesser developers (like with Twisted Metal) and it permanently damaged the brand name. They aren't going to find anyone that can properly replace PD and Kaz.

Gran Turismo had one mainline entry that was relatively poorly received and sold less than it could've, while the franchise lost a lot of prestige and acclaim to its competitor Forza (which had three higher rated entries).

Why assume only Kaz can do what Turn 10 already has proven others can? It was bad management to get GT5 out in 2010, plain and simple. You say other franchises have been bungled by Sony. I don't really see why GT5 wouldn't join the list of poorly managed IPs at this point.

The only sim racer I have this generation is GT5:p. I don't really care on a personal level how the games do. But Sony can't be happy PD has spent way more and delivered way less. Like I said, I think they've missed out on a ton of money and sales, and the blame for that starts with the company CEO. One game in a generation. C'mon.

Anyone know why we have sub-forums for NPD and MediaCreate sales, but not for PAL charts? Only noticed it when I looked at the front page just now.

Why the hell would any consumer want to be forced into buying annual releases of a game? Especially games that barely gets any feature updates from the previous one.

Simulation Racing isn't a Sports Game.

GT5 will probably close in on 10M for LTD sales (And if you add in GT5: Prologue, the GT5 games stand at over 15M LTD). Something that is out of the realm of reality for a game like Forza. So from a business standpoint, although the recent Forza entry was more highly acclaimed, GT is still more successful and is continuing to be successful. Why fix something that ain't broken. ;P

Now my own personal opinion, is that the current management style needs a bit of a shake-up and transition to a more 'modern' development style. I do think that either Sony hires more staff for PD or look to adding in cheap contractors to do the monkey work for the GT games and have this stuff reviewed against PD standards. I do think the age of relying on dedicated studios without the use of cheap contracting is not a cost effective solution to produce high end simulated racing games.

In an ideal world, Sony would produce a GT every 3 years. Each to high critical acclaim.

How can prologue and GT5 sales be lumped, they released years apart and don't even run on the same tech? Naming aside, 5 is a sequel to prologue.

Regardless, my point still stands. GT still represents very good business - even with peoples contentions with Kaz's release schedule. :p

For the record, GT was released in 4 years, which isn't that bad considering how other high profile Japanese developers have performed.

Not really any hard information in PAL threads and a lot of the charts have their own online archives.

From what I understand, we're talking about GT in this generation vs Forza series in the same generation.

In terms of sales, GT proved that it can perform better than its rival's method of annual iteration.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I'm wondering where exclusive titles would be in the top 100 if it weren't multiplatform. Thanks CrunchinJelly!

Sleeping Dogs outsold Resident Evil 6.

Unlike in North America, Hitman Absolution was a huge success in the UK.

Sonic Generations and Rayman Origins had nice legs.

Thanks for posting the top 100.

EA’s FIFA 13 has claimed its sixth No.1 in the UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 this week.

It does so despite a 47 per cent week-on-week drop in sales. Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2 retains second spot with sales falling 36 per cent. Much of the Top Ten remains unchained, with Sega’s Football Manager 2013 re-entering the listings and Microsoft’s Forza Horizon dropping out.

The only new entry this week is Sega’s budget-priced Anarchy Reigns, which enters the charts in 16th in its first week.

Here’s the UK Top 20 for the week ending January 12th:
1. FIFA 13 (EA)
2. Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft)
3. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Activision)
4. Hitman Absolution (Square Enix)
5. Need for Speed Most Wanted (EA)
6. Just Dance 4 (Ubisoft)
7. Halo 4 (Microsoft)
8. Football Manager 2013 (Sega)
9. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
10. LEGO The Lord of the Rings (Warner Bros)
11. Assassin’s Creed III (Ubisoft)
12. WWE ’13 (THQ)
13. Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed (Sega)
14. Forza Horizon (Microsoft)
15. Dishonored (Bethesda)
16. Anarchy Reigns (Sega)
17. Skylanders Giants (Activision)
18. Medal of Honor: Warfighter (EA)
19. Forza Motorsport 4 (Microsoft)
20. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Warner Bros)

Sega’s new beat em up ‘Anarchy Reigns’, developed by PlatinumGames, is this week’s sole new entry at No16.

Looking at the drops the last couple weeks I'm sure the games outside the top 20 are once again doing pitiful numbers.

Nothing particularly noteworthy, DMC next week and then nothing big until MGS:R...unless WiiU/Vita decide to shake things up by having a title chart.
