What if they added a hardcore mode similar to New Vegas?
Hardcore + JSawyer mod, then may be it could be good.

That's fair. I admit I did that to increase the smithing skills, but creating daggers after a bit was meaningless and had to move on making more powerful stuff that gave me more skill. Then again, setting a cap for low level stuff would be great, that I agree. It's just that the crafting system is fucking stupid in Skyrim. They need to have a cap on experience for smithing/crafting specific items. You shouldn't be able to spam thousands of a low level item, like iron daggers, to boost that skill and then be able to craft the highest level gear. There should be a tree of progression that makes sense. Otherwise we'll get this...
Exactly, the core gameplay of shooting a gun shouldn't be interfered by stats (other than being poisoned and making your hand shake or being a newbie at shooting because you're low leveled) but reload speed, damage and even chances of your gun being stuck would be great for stat playing. Again, I'd love to have VATS as a risk/benefit feature than "instakills".I like VATS personally, but I do think it would still be possible to have good stat based combat and not have VATS. Have you gun skills effect things like reload speed, damage, weapon wear could work and still make a good FPS experience.
Hardcore mode was just annoying rather than actually good challenging imo.

Have your gun skills effect things like reload speed, damage, weapon wear could work and still make a good FPS experience. Just avoid it effecting accuracy. I don't seem to mind it as it makes sense that a guy with terrible skills can't shoot, but a lot seem to call that jank.
Isn't this contradictory? They want to make Fallout 4 more distinct from Skyrim except in making it more like Skyrim?
I love the worlds that Bethesda can make, but dammit, leave the story/lore to Obsidian for Fallout's sake.
I keep hearing how Rage has a great gunplay design, would you like to see that kind of gameplay into Fallout?

Well I can se where Derrick is coming from. regenerative health magic and stamina, regaining everything when you wait it really negates the food in the game, alchemy, and enchanting to a degree.
I'm currently playing as a vampire in skyrim and alchemy is important now and the game is more fun for it.
Skyrim needs a hardcore mode too.

-From what it sounds like, "The Institute" is pretty much the downtown DC or New Vegas of this game. Boston is going to be unlike anything we've seen in a Fallout game before, with buildings more on par with cyberpunk and retro-futurism.

I just think they should focus on making a great RPG instead of trying to tack on some unbalanced extra elements in an extra mode. I had very few problems with how New Vegas was as a base game and I never got the sense that it was a game that casuals wouldn't be able to do anything in because it was too complex. But it was also a brilliantly written game with clever skill implementation and quest design and people who have followed Bethesda for years already know there's no chance of F4 having any of that. So they really need to get the rest of the game into shape.

Why don't they just make their own SciFi RPG with Androids and aliens and space dragons and let Obsidian make the Fallouts from now on? They don't seem especially interested in the story of Fallout or the atmosphere, so there's no reason for them to shoehorn what they do want to make around the Wasteland premise. This way everyone wins.
using id tech 5 hopefully not gamebryo or whatever
lol This was all a lie. I made this shit up cuz I was bored.
-First and foremost, the game will take place in Boston, and be kind of a direct sequel to Fallout 3 with a few groups returning.

-Due to complaints about using Super Mutants and the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 3 excessively and going against the lore too much, Bethesda has decided to avoid using these groups. Bethesda wants to make a new "race" (think Ghoul, Super Mutant) which will be central to Boston. Bethesda is currently looking at Lovecraftian fiction since Boston is around "Lovecraft Country".
-Bethesda has no plans to reinvent the leveling up system to make it more like Skyrim and want to make Fallout 4 more distinct from Skyrim since of the complaints that Oblivion and Fallout 3 were too similar. Bethesda is thinking about introducing a system, similar to Skyrim, where your skills can level up if you perform certain tasks.
Sounds completely uninteresting so its probably true.
Oh well.....
Also sounds like something black isle came up with years ago
It sounds like the enclave won't return so if true that's a +1 in my book.
Hopefully for next gen consoles.
The big positive from the rumour is that they won't be further messing with Super Mutants and BoS.

I have no proof because this was all a lie. Got bored and posted this.
