This is one hell of a surprise. I honestly never expected a game like this to get localized In North America, and considering how excited I was [and still am!] to play it, I couldn't be happier.

Thank you Namco Bandai, THANK YOU! You also have Ni no Kuni scheduled later this month and Tales of Xillia later in the year. You're really spoiling us, you know?

My only question [not sure if it's been answered yet]: Retail or Download? While I'm usually against download-only titles, if it means a chance to play a localized Project x Zone, I will have zero hesitations to pull out my credit card and do so!

I'd advise against watching that 16 minute trailer, also

Once you watch that you've pretty much seen every super move in the game

I'll never understand what's the problem between gaf (usa) and boobs. it's like an endless feud that has to show itself in every single thread about a japanese game.
I'd buy this game for the boobs alone, jesus christ.

The mere thought that you would need to include that kind of pandering at all, when you're making a game with a roster of characters built up from 2 of the greatest game companies of all time (and Namco), is just... baffling, more than anything, really. It makes the developers, well, it makes them look like fucking morons, quite frankly.
From a lot of the games I've imported from Japan recently or some of the stuff I've played, a few devs have just inserted stuff like this in the game just for the sake of being a selling point for that particular fraction of the audience. So, PXZ's emphasis on this stuff makes sense from that perspective.

But of course, that doesn't mean we have to accept it or feel that it appeals to us. Because for some of us, like you and I for example, it certainly doesn't. It's just a pointless animation. At the same time, I don't wish for it to be taken out either because since people are posting the gifs, they probably are into it?

I dunno, I'd rather not have devs put this stuff in the game in the first place because they really don't need to considering the roster of characters they have lined up here. That's the thing that appeals to me the most.

Have you never played a game with Morrigan in it?
Morrigan's tits shouldn't be the focus, though, because she isn't all tits despite her character design. Her skills and animations around her skills and her overall usefulness in battle should be what we're focusing on.

At least, that's the type of stuff I focus on whenever I use her.

If it makes you feel any better, Hsien-Ko's animation close up thing is just a still image of her from the chest up. No bouncing or focusing on her boobs..she actually doesn't have an animation in the cut-out besides moving left to right lol.

Are you sure?

Oh, I guess I'm wrong then. Or used the wrong move.

Her pair attack or w/e it's called with Frank West just has the cut in I described. Don't know which attack that's from. I guess I don't have whatever move that gif is from yet?

Sorry green scar!

Well, I have a pretty open mind when it comes to sex and sexuality, but it just seems that devs like to put this stuff front and centre when you really don't need to.

Sell the game with how the game plays itself or the character roster, not necessarily their sexual appeal. With the large roster this game has, that's the fanservice you use. References to their games, dialogue references, attack animation references, sprite references, etc. Jiggling and focus on a body part simply feels like the last thing to focus on in this case.

No? What does that have to do with anything?

Did I not just say:

Regardless, not everyone in Japan is a perv. Not everyone buying this game are in it for the breast jiggle animation, right? Some probably just want it for the characters involved.

To be realistic, as much as it's a basis of fanservice, I'm sure it's also based off the fact that it's based off how SRW has always handled it too. I don't know if it's so much service as it's just because it's part of the formula.

If it's the sequel to Namco x Capcom, i think its safe to assume its gonna be terrible.

Now is the gameplay better than NxC though? NxC got so repetitive after 15 chapters...

It's essentially Endless Frontier style combat with the NxC foundation. I found it a lot easier to stomach vs NxC. But it's still pretty mindless and repetitive.

My guess is that if the game's lacking in gameplay they need to make up for it in fanservice. Why not hit that point from two angles while they're at it? Probably figure that those that don't care for that will still be happy with the fanservice of having all sorts of characters together in one game anyway.

Sure. I'm not really a fan of Morrigan, and Trish's win pose is dumb, but UMvC3 has nothing like some of the gifs being posted here.

I doubt that any of the people posting in this thread would refuse to purchase the game based on those cutaways alone. We're just pointing out how unnecessary and stupid they look.

My point was that if you're familiar with the characters you shouldn't be surprised.

Morrigan's tits shouldn't be the focus, though, because she isn't all tits despite her character design. Her skills and animations around her skills and her overall usefulness in battle should be what we're focusing on.

Can you really say they're the focus? It's the start-up for a super animation and the tits are on screen for what, 2 seconds at most?

It's dumb but I don't see what the big deal is. I think the Kosmos/Telos one is the worst offender.

Bouncing breasts, whether it be in Endless Frontier, this game, or any other, has never devalued the game, the experience, or the character that it involved for me. In EF, for instance, whenever Kaguya did her special or whatever, and for the five seconds her breasts bounced around, I just thought of it as "awesome gravy" on top of the unique mechanics that attracted me to the game. If it's there, great, you can be damned sure I'll enjoy it, if it's not, well, whatever, it's not going to detract from the game, either.

I just think of it as an awesome extra, like I said, rather than "creepy pandering", and I see nothing wrong with developers including it.

Now, I pray to flying spaghetti monster some jackass doesn't come in here and claim that people like myself are "sexually repressed nerds" or something. :p

Coming this year uncensored and with original Jap VA?!

I never thought this would come over given previous cross over games never leaving Japan. Genually shocked. Day one.

I'm honestly not a big fan of the whole super sexualized "fanservice" thing, but if it's anything like Endless Frontier I'm sure it'll be fine, as that was just so over the top that it made for a pretty great parody of that sort of thing, IIRC.

It's the animation they chose, so yes, it's a deliberate attempt to focus on a part of her body for a fraction of that animation length, and animate a jiggling motion. I dunno, maybe it's because I'm looking at it as a female and I just find it completely superfluous and cutaways can be done in just as much of a cool way even while excluding it. I'd say the same thing if they were animating a dude tearing his shirt off or something.

If guys or girls get something out of it, it's their prerogative. Why would I get mad over that? I merely think it's unnecessary in a game like this where the ultimate showcase is the character roster.

Anyway, carry on.

Because I wanna talk about how awesome Dante and X/Zero are.

WHAT

LOCALIZATION

AND

ORIGINAL VOICES

WAAAAA

BASED HARADA GUY OF THE YEAR

Yaaaaay !

piuVj.gif

Needless to say, I'm very happy with this news, I think Endless Frontier improved a lot upon Namco X Capcom, and this looks even better. I can see how people can see it as repetitive, but I feel it more like a rhythm game, so I didn't feel the repetitiveness at all. Ended up playing Endless Frontier like Rhythm Heaven DS, a little bit every other day for months to enjoy the rhythm

Now to hope for EX Troopers localization! I too think it's next to impossible, but after this news I can believe anything

I still can't believe this, made my year already. I was thinking about buying a Tekken game and after this it's a definite buy, I want to thank Harada in some way.

Also, isn't it crazy how this generation Namco is now really good with localizations while Square is awful? The inverse of just a few years ago.

Oh.

I like crossovers when they do crazy stuff, but is it abysmal boring or abysmal hilarious?
It's abysmally shallow and repetitive, almost nonexistent for the majority of the game. On the other hand, the character conversations and interactions are great and pretty much the only worthwhile reason to play the game.

I should say the first 15 hours or so you'll actually probably have a lot of fun with the battle system and characters before you realize how repetitive and little depth the game has.

Closest thing I recall is seeing Namesis and Tyrant mobs.

Was thinking he was asking about characters you can use. I haven't seen Nemesis or Tyrant yet but seeing as how Selvaria Bles is in this as an enemy I guess that's not unlikely.

Noted this while talking to a friend earlier. Joked about how they must have traded staff members but then realized I was probably wrong because
Square Enix's JP side (DQ team aside) seems to have lost their minds too.

Took me a while to notice this thread.

DAY ONE. Even if the game turns out to be bad, if only to support this kind of cross-company insanity being localized more often.
