Volition seems very low. Does not include the Saints Row IP?

How the hell does Homefront get bought and Vigil dies with THQ?

Why buy Vigil if you already have an Austin, TX dev team? Even if you wanted the talent you could just wait until they get closed and then snatch up all the talent free of charge with your pre-existing Austin, TX developer

I hope that someone buys Vigil still, as far as I understand, THQ is still seeking a buyer for it, aren't they? I think they might be a good fit for Nintendo, seeing as their western presence is quite small and they could probably use such a team for a possible Star Fox Adventures sequel (or perhaps more Darksiders ^^).

so koch will now be publishing / funding the next saints row? does this mean they might also give red faction another shot at the big time?

really sad to hear about vigil. disappointed that neither sony or microsoft didn't put in an offer. darksiders would have made a very nice addition to either ones exclusive line up. :(

Wait.. Do the Koch Brothers (notorious financiers of small-government movements) now legally own Saints Row? And Metro 2033?

Can't say I saw that coming.

For the Darksiders IP, it's possible that publishers saw that nobody else wanted it much either and could be looking to pick it up for cheaper outside the auction process.

Edit: Koch Brothers has nothing to do with Koch Media. Koch Media is a EuroPublisher making a play.

Relic the crown Jewel!

Kinda feel sorry for Vigil, I wasn't a massive fan of the Darksiders series, but they weren't total shit or anything, at least not to the degree where the IP and studio both die off.

I'm glad Sega got Relic, but seeing Volition with Koch Media just doesn't feel right.

Also @DDInvesting tweeted this:

Why would Nintendo of all companies want 2 Austin, TX dev teams?

Holy. Ubisoft got Patrice's studio for a song.

I wonder if people knew that these were the prices these studios were going to go for would more companies been involved in the bidding process.

Thats Games Workshop's IP so you will have to wait and see what they are planning to go forward with.

I assume they will be chilling at Relic again since they apparently trust those guys and Relic is still alive (gone to Sega)

Yeah. I know GW are pretty protective of it so I imagine there is some clause that would void the deal in event of something like this. I'm curious to see where the in development stuff goes like Dark Millennium.

I was hoping we'd get a tidbit of information with the news of Relics purchase.

Does this mean we should expect a Homefront sequel? I don't know how that got purchased over Vigil. Shit ain't right.

I'm okay with Homefront continuing and all, but seriously, how did Vigil NOT get picked up?!
Crytek UK have been working on Homefront 2 for some time now.

Take 2 agreed to purchase Evolve and...

and what?

Also what is Evolve?
Turtle Rock game, not much is known.

The only two I am watching very closely is South Park and Metro. I think that since development is so far along that the games wont experience many changes but you never know. Does Ubisoft have enough time to shoehorn uPlay stuff in?

I have no idea how Volition went for less than Relic.

If that included Saints Row I'm at a loss for words.

Great for Relic, Sad about Vigil...

I suppose Koch/Deep Silver saw this as a great possiblity for a fast and safe international step up.

Wow, I'm really surprised how cheaply Volition went. I imagine the relative value compared to Relic is still higher considering Vancouver vs Champaign, but still... wow.

Possibly because there are still significant development costs to his game, along with a high payroll?

Darksiders is a franchise with potential, but Vigil was not a good developer to pull it off, so I am not surprised that nobody is touching them especially after Joe Madureira left a while ago.

Vigil might be dead, but they didn't own the Darksiders IP, so there still is a chance that somebody picks up the IP. But then again... the sales number showed that there is not enough interest so maybe they let it die together with Vigil.

Surprising (and great) purchase by Ubi though. South Park will be a great game.
