What does NEOGAF think of the graphics on Wii U's second wave of games

X looks pretty nice but Wonderful 101 is still the most impressive game on the system. There's not a lot of games with similiar style/perspective to compare it to though so it's hard to really gauge how technically demanding it really is, but it certainly looks like it's pushing a lot of gemoetry.

I mean I loved Epic Yarn's style, don't get me wrong. Wonderfully clever in how they implemented it into obstacles and graphical effects. And it looks to be the same with Yoshi. BUT, I also want a great game, ya know?

I agree. Its like they were betraying their own damn philosophies "great gameplay over everything else" Its the same with Smash Bros and Zelda for me anyway. Hopefully they fix that for future games.

They look, well, fine. Really looking forward to W101.

I think the real answer to your question comes at E3, when we see what games like Mario 3D U look like. Its predecessors were graphically or aesthetically pleasing, so if Nintendo wants to wow us on that, Mario is their best opportunity. If third parties happen to have some pretty surprises, maybe we'll know then, too.

Damn, that "X" looks rad... can you guys imagine what Metroid will look like? It feels refreshing coming from the Wii, like the first time I saw MGS4, I have this feeling of excitement. Beautiful!

What exactly is detailed in X? The vast and empty space?

did you see those backgrounds? if we use Xenoblade as a precedent, those are accessible by flying or foot. this is no uncharted or halo. that's enormous detail, on a scale that probably has not been done yet.

It all looks good, no better than what we have now but I'll be satisfied with Nintendo games with these graphics.

Exception being Wind Waker, the new look makes me ill

Edit: i mean.... This doesnt look like anywhere near ad good as X.... Right? I feel like pretty much any other open world game would have illustrated your point better.

Nothing bothers me more than people being overly critical of a game that has barely surfaced. Maybe a response to the premy's saying it's the best ever graphics, but still tasteless. Get over yourself!

I am not overly critical to anything. I think X looks good but it has current gen graphics, plain and simple.

Must have missed that, should probably put my Nintendo goggles on.

No, no, don't you push that nintendo fanboy crap, because you're a Nintendo Fanboy! People who don't care about Nintendo don't bitch about a game from them that hasn't even gotten a real name yet.

Looks fine to me. Especially with costs encouraging stuff like the ridiculous purchasable weapons in Dead Space 3, I'm totally happy with these graphics.

Even with a lot of current gen games I find myself thinking pretty often "How much would this looking better really affect my enjoyment of it?"

Have you actually played the game or why are you trying to proof something with a shitty lookíng screenshot?
