Nothing. This is simply as inaccurate as it can get. The console with the best games always won in long term and will always win in long term. What in the world has happened to the games industry?

Well,Yeah, but how much stronger? A lot or a bit? I'm just trying to gauge the graphical difference between the two.
ok...
lots of timed exclusives it seems?
( i wont make a thread with your posts or anything.)
The newest devs kits and updated final specs for Orbis went out in January. It seems those kits and targets changed a lot of devs minds from what I've been hearing.
With more available bandwidth on Orbis with a faster GPU I don't see how you can get close performance.

You know we are hungry for any info when you start considering Kotaku as a viable source of information for anything ever.

He said it was a wash a couple of months (at most) a go. He's said the specs haven't changed for a year.
Not sure why his opinion would suddenly change...
Being "a wash" doesn't mean that one isn't slightly more powerful than the other.
And that's partly why Sony got rid of Kutaragi.
Expect several 720p games on Orbis, too.
These questions don't make sense at all.
Guy says specs haven't changed since in like a year, posts a comment 2 months ago and people think he has something new to say just because we got a new leak?
He knew all of this when he made his comment.
Where is this? I don't see that attitude reflected anywhere but from you. No other posters are saying that and no other gaming sites are reporting this.
Dat MS bias bleeding through with every post you make.
Yeah, that meme ran wild on forums for a while until the disastrous E3 2006.In 2005 Sony said that the Xbox 360 is just a Xbox 1.5
http://www.joystiq.com/2005/05/25/sony-boss-kutaragi-says-f-the-xbox-1-5/
It not true of course.

well the last edge article had this to sayChanged their minds to which direction?
Its so hard to keep up with all these rumors.
Sony has already earned an enormous amount of goodwill among studios working with PS4 development hardware.......It’s clear Sony has designed a system that, on paper, outperforms Microsoft’s next Xbox. One source familiar with both platforms tells us that in real terms Sony’s console is “slightly more powerful” and “very simple to work with”.
I don't know (or haven't had confirmed) any content exclusives from publishers for either system. But given that, say, COD was marketed as an Xbox game this generation, and saw DLC a month early, and that EA had to react and give BF3 DLC to the PS3 first to try to differentiate, and that almost every "exclusive" PSN or XBLA game went to other platforms six months to a year later, what do you think will happen? The platform holders don't need a game or its DLC forever. They need it first, long enough for people broadly not to care when it shows up later on the other guy's system.
The new kit is something like twice as powerful in many regards as the old spec, so yeah. Developers were happy. It meant one dev target instead of two very different ones.

As long as it's a generational leap and a big gap from the previous gen, I'm satisfied.
I thought it was because Sony gave Ken their credit card & wasn't happy when they got the bill for PS3 production
It's really very different shit. Unprecedented shit in a way, there never have been consoles that were as architecturally close before. It's more like comparing two Android tablets. Maybe even closer than that, those could at least have different GPU architectures.very little difference between the two. The specs between the two consoles are extremely close, and it'll come down to developer and tools to see which can get more out of their consoles theoretical yield. The numbers that people are throwing around are pretty much useless, just look at the ps3 vs 360 debates, same shit, different generation.
What's puzzling from his post is there shouldn't be Durango fans or Orbis fans for systems that don't even exist yet. All that would be are fans of Sony or MS, most of which should be ignored IMO since blind corporate loyalty is silly.
Yes, Dan mentioned Kotaku. Btw, his Twitter account seems to be unprotected now: https://twitter.com/superDaEI only mention them because I think SuperDAE said they'd run something...but dunno what the timetable on that is.
Would love to get Dice's opinion on this. They have been incredibly vocal about needs for next gen, wonder if they are happy with either or both.
And that's partly why Sony got rid of Kutaragi.
Well,
PS4 GPU:
32 ROPS
1.8 TFOPS
720 GPU:
16 ROPS
1.2 TFOPS
On paper, PS4 GPU is like 30-40% better.
I only mention them because I think SuperDAE said they'd run something...but dunno what the timetable on that is.

That's what I'm worried about.
The jump from PS2/Xbox > PS3/360 was huge (like 10x)
I'm worried PS3/360 > PS4/720 won't be as big

From the numbers, a rough approximation would probably be a AMD HD5850 or Nvidia GTX 460 overclocked GPUs. In other words, mid range enthusiast cards from 3 years ago. 1080p, maximal image quality for present generation games should not be an issue. But the same settings at 60fps for next generation games (Agni's Philosophy, CryEngine 4) on the other hand.....
It most definitely will be. Don't let all the ridiculous comparison talks get you down, both consoles are packing some serious horsepower that can be better utilized overall than what it could be if it was a PC.
The games are going to look fantastic and each system will have its own standouts just get past the fanboy feuds and you'll see the silver lining, the next generation of game consoles will both be beasts.
Whoever has no tearing has the winning position. #FACT!
maybe they just have different priorities? Not that hard to believe.GAF should question sources harder. Who is behind these VGleaks? Could it be some of the very same GAF posters on here defending them? Still on the skeptical side here. MS knows Sony's position and where they stand financially, can't see them getting out powered by Sony unless they have something up their sleeve in terms of other add-on or new experiences.
These specs have forced me, yes, forced me to make a predicktion:
Their will be a split this generation or at some point in the next 5-6 years. No longer will there be nothing but do-it-all, please everyone consoles. We will see the console world split into two separate focuses:
- One that focuses on services, lower power and technical specs, a more casual gaming experience.
- The other on high end services, high end gaming, (hardcore, if you will).
Honestly this is the thing that makes the most sense. If you only had one movie theater that showed a single movie at a time, when you play something Rated R you lose a lot of potential business, when you play something Rated G you lose business.
So why not just open up another theater?
Makes sense to my advanced brain.
If the Orbis specs were bumped up last summer then it could be the "a wash" comment was comparing the old Orbis kit.
I just think the various insiders have had info on different specced dev kits leading to massive confusion.
lets say the rumoured specs are correct. While we sit here wailing and gnashing our teeth over how x console is y% better than z console, the mainstream out there won't understand or care about any of it...
[cut].. Meanwhile we'll be sitting here going 'oh why is it selling so well, it has less CUs'
The specs in the PS4/720 blow away the 360/PS3, significantly.
I see some people are still expecting those gallons of secret sauce. Reality is pretty disappointing.
