This is absolutely the way to show how you feel about the delay. Sadly I think it says it all when the petition is still struggling to get 5000 people who care enough to fill it out. Someone should get these details up on Miiverse, and see how much traction it gets. Emailing/phoning all these people, and buying it on WiiU in good numbers is the only thing that'll get through to Ubi.

I couldn't get over it. I couldn't get past it. I couldn't figure out what the big deal was. I mean, I could understand the anger but not the degree of it. People are SO mad.

Tonight I talked to a friend and he made it really clear.

"Dude, I have a Wii U. The release calendar is TERRIBLE. This was THE next game for Wii U that any large number of Wii U gamers gave a shit about."

"If the lineup and calendar weren't so awful, nobody would give a shit.".

I understand now. This is very different from Rayman Legends, not just because the former was not exclusive, but because it was a blip on the radar for systems that had at least several other good games coming out that year. The Wii U lineup is such a piece of shit that this is a major loss.

Fuck Ubisoft. They have seriously damaged a platform that was already failing.

Batteries the CRISIS!
I don't even have a Wii U, so this delay doesn't really affect me, but this is such anti-consumer bullshit that I think Ubisoft will join Activision and EA on my boycot list.

For sure, good compilation of info. I'm still getting to grips with Miiverse but I'll check later if anyone has put those details on there. I emailed all the email addresses, the 3 I got for the uk specific page, and signed the petition, for what it's worth.

There is one way to amend this in my eyes, use the extra months to port Rayman Origins and pack it for free with Legends.

That would be awesome. I have it on 360 but always regretted not getting itfor the PS3 instead. Wii U would be perfect though.

Twitter, Facebook, email. Bombard them.

I have no personal stake in this, but you can't just walk away from a promise without at the very least being honest with the customer about it.

Great job in getting all of this. I have my doubts about the effectiveness but after seeing the amount of reactions to this and how widespread it's gotten I'm willing to help push it to prominence and really, it's worth getting heard. Signed the petition, will e-mail.

Haha, for the uk specific emails, the head of uk corporate strategy has an auto reply right now saying

Thanks for your email.

I will be out of the office at meetings until Friday 15 February, with intermittent access to email. I will respond to you as soon as possible.

Kind Regards

Head of UK Corporate Strategy & Media Relations

If everyone in the uk that cares emails her, she will be horrified at her email when she gets back to work on the 15th.

Fuck Ubisoft. They have seriously damaged a platform that was already failing.

This is an incredibly good point, but it is only part of the equation, in my opinion.

1. The game was originally leaked via a video that demonstrated several Wii U exclusive features: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcgYWNwvn94

2. The game was later officially announced as a Wii U Exclusive that would launch in the Wii U's "launch window," defined as between launch and March, 2013.

3. When questioned about its exclusivity, Ubisoft revealed a trailer confirming this stating that it would be released before Christmas. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/15/rayman-legends-is-a-wii-u-exclusive

4. The game was later delayed to Q1 2013 in order to finish it. Ubisoft had this to say:

Ubisoft said:
We’re happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations. We’ll have more details to share soon."

5. Then, Rayman got a release date and a demo! February 26th! http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/12/07/rayman-legends-gets-release-date-demo

6. It was confirmed that the extended delay for Rayman Legends meant that progress on Beyond Good and Evil 2 was being slowed: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/14/rayman-slowing-beyond-good-evil-2-development

7. Finally, 2.5 weeks before release, the game is delayed 7 months in order to port it to systems it was never designed for.

This is another reason to be angry... Wii U owners were thrown aside due to Ubisoft's decreasing confidence in the title when amongst a brand new system. I don't know what ubisfot was originally thinking, but somewhere down the line, they decided the Wii U's launch was not significant enough to warrant Rayman Legends at this point in time.

It's bad business all the way through. And, it means that the development team can't move onto other projects.

It's not just that the WiiU lineup is barren. If it wasn't already ready to go, then I doubt people would be pissed. It's the fact that WiiU games have quite often released AFTER the 360/PS3 versions (probably due to how long it takes to finish a port) yet when the lead platform is the WiiU version, we have to wait to release alongside the 360/PS3 versions? Bullshit.

If Nintendo needs to take care of something its increasing their console value and rebuilding their strategy regarding the WiiU especially since its still early and there is a huge room for improvements, loosing temporary 3rd party exclusivety like Rayman is nothing but an increase in warning signs from 3rd parties especially for an already finished game as stupid as this might sound.
They've done it once with the 3DS and hopefully they can do it again although they seem slower this time, maybe because they're restructuring internally.

Thank you! Very helpful. Just sent an e-mail as well.

Wow. Can't get the petition link or the Ubi contact link to work now. Tell me this is because people are going nuts, and not because of my shitty internet.

I think we need a petition imploring third parties to dampen support for the forthcoming consoles if they fail to significantly outsell Wii U on release.

That contact info should get a split thread. People may look at the title of this thread and just see it as a bitchfest and skip it. That info is a great opportunity to do something proactive if you do care, & should be welcomed.

I understand your outrage Nintendo fans but do you really think Ubisoft will care about a petition signed by 5000 people? Hell make it 50 000 people. They will make up this kind of lost sales on PS360 and the larger userbase of Wii U owners in 7 months easily.

Get real, this won't change a thing. Business is business for Ubi. They fuck us PC gamers as well with constant promises and delays of console port games.

What sales are they losing by releasing early?
"Oh man I really wanted to play that game but I'm not going to get it because it came out on WiiU first!"
Nobody would ever say that. I mean I'm sure there's like one person out there that would, but other than that? They're GUARANTEEING lost sales now. For what? For a chance to advertise all of them at the same time? Release now and if you want the ports to sell later, bundle them with an exclusive demo for Assassin's Creed 7 or whatever they're working on.

Totally true, but it's still the best, proactive way to do something, if you want to do something. Why do you care if people want to show how they feel in a positive manner? No one is maknig you do it, so I'm not sure what has your back up so hard.

The anti consumer comments on Facebook, in journalist articles, etc. have a negative impact on the whole Ubisoft brand. That is far more problematic for Ubi, and the best trigger we have.

5000 signatures in less that 12 hours is not that bad!
And don't be surprised to be fucked by Ubisoft on PC if you think nothing can ever change !!

I read somewhere that since they decided to port to ps360, they are legally bound by Microsoft to release any multiplatform game no later than on rivaling platforms and with the same content. So since it's going multiplatform, no version before 360's version is available.

You are wrong. Go to their Facebook Page. This is a PR calamity for the company. If it keeps up they will have to act. Anyone visiting that page (or any other ubisoft social outlet) gets greeted with post of consumers trashing the company for this. They will have to respond.

There are ways around that. One example being: Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. If they had a huge problem with legal boundaries, they could've just released it on WiiU THEN announced they were going to port it. Microsoft can't do shit about that (or if they could, they didn't with NG3: Razor's Edge).

Not so much legally bound. The excerpt reads that they "reserve a right to not allow it's release". There have been quite a deal of games that have been released on PS3 before 360, or released to bonus content that isn't available in the latter. Off the top of my head I can count Mortal Kombat, Arkham Asylum, Ghostbusters (in Europe) and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World; the last of which was also Ubi published.

There's a certain amount of leeway with that "rule". It's mostly there to scare those publishers.

they won't change a thing. But I want them to know that people don't like being treated link a second hand consumer. This behaviour must have repercussions. And that's the only weapon we have so let's use it.

mirror's edge had an exclusive dlc map on the ps3 version too.

sony's not great, and nintendo is clueless, but microsoft actually kinda sucks. save us, valve.

It's funny, people have a hissy fit when Apple requests a developer alters something or resubmits because they receive complaints or deem it necessary of a 17+ rating, but the sort of accross the board (unless your game is too big and necessary!), horribly non-competitive and downright anti-artist policy used by Microsoft is just dandy.

They've known for years they can't trust western companies. That's why their main cooperation efforts are in Japan. Quality wise, the DS and the Wii were already Japan heavy.

Nah. The devs already confirmed that's one of the reasons the Wii U version is still the "definite" version. 360/PS3 users will probably just get cut on those 20% optional Murphy levels, the artwork they released with the announcement didn't have him on it.
