Destructoid: PS4 controller prototype & devkit photo, [Up: New Photo/Info In OP]

They stole the entire NCL and trapped them in the back of the next dual shock. Nintendo should sue from inside the controller, it's the only way to break free.

Any chance that touch pad is provisional and the final piece will feature a touch screen?

I'm honestly lost as to what's the functional or gamechanging purpose of the touchpad.

Well if you have used the PS3 XMB for the past few years or any other submenu on the Playstation OS, I can see many uses for the touchpad. Also don't forget laptops have been using the touch pad for well over a decade.

Imagine easily navigating webpages, scrolling up and down with touch gestures, double tap for back and forward page navigation etc. browsing Netflix, PS Store, etc. it may be better for media navigation than for games, but I am sure it could also be used for games.

There's definitely a good use for touchpad on a controller, but that all depends on how much and how easily is it implemented with what's on the big screen in front of you.

Handles are still too short, analog sticks in wrong place.

If anyone from Mad Catz is lurking right now, please have a bigger controller with better stick placement ready at launch. Thanks.

Maybe the controller can still be broken up into 2 pieces lol, like that patent suggested.

Its probably some type of 3D functionality.

I'd be in the dick
I like the slightly more rounded ergonomics. Definitely looks more comfortable. Stick texturing looks nice too. Build quality looks assy but it is a prototype. I love how GAF mockups were spot on. We'll see how close the final is to those.

Did you also see the GC ports at the top of the photo? Unacceptable! They should sue for that also!

Nintendo needs to sue here, I take seriously the idea that a company should be encouraged to create their own ideas versus leeching off of other successful products. On this controller I see the heart and soul of the WiiU and Dreamcast. Positioned in the center where everyone can see it is everything wrong with the gaming industry today. End this Sony.

What in the world?

The placement is also a huge issue.

I can't imagine being able to comfortably use the track pad unless you set the controller down.

What?

Between this and people lying that you can't smash your fingers together on the DS3 because the sticks are way too close, I think a lot of Gaf has baby sized hands.

Do you prefer that DS4 look more like this?

Man those things was horrible.

This looks like an incredible evolution. Keeps the Dualshock form but makes it slightly heftier that gives 360 pad that awesome weighting. Integrates new features without messing up the old scheme. Isn't this what everybody wants?

What does that idiom "breaks in half the way" mean? Sorry, English isn't my first language.

Referring to a split controller ala Move.

Or he means he played too much Dark Souls.

Superior my ass. Non natural thumb placement = wrong placement.

And the DS's shitty positioning means my thumbs constantly hit one another. Hurray. But if the new DS is bigger, perhaps I wont have that issue anymore. As it is now, the DS controller isn't made for me.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this (or at least the pages I have read haven't mentioned this)... the dual camera is in plain sight on that pic

Look at the big black rectangles on the left and right sides of the devkit. What else could it be?

I'm pretty sure PSNATION hasn't seen the controller or knows if this is the final design. They said as much when I tweeted them.
