Wonder if rumble is going to be evolved any. There's some nifty new rumble tech and I wish MS or Sony would try something new.

I would guess that they'll include similar pulsing actuator tech as the Sony Pulse Elite headset, which seems to give more accurate control over the vibrating motors that are in the DS3.

I actually think they are a bit retro now to be honest, when i watched the 20th teaser video, it just made me feel all old.
Tis a bit 90's

The word you're looking for is "timeless". ;)

I hope they keep the colors, I like them. Just the shapes would feel less "PlayStation" to me.

Ewww, concave sticks. Also looks generally ugly. Hope that's not similar to the final pad.

They're not exactly concave, they're convex with a rather thick ridge going around them. Doesn't look all that great, but I think they might feel pretty damn nice.

ah shit man, i just read the OP
the leak says the buttons are digital? :\
i liked that the analog buttons were always an option for devs, should they have a good idea for using them
plus...backwards compatibilty
mgs 3 on ps3 >>>>> 360 because of the pressure sensitive buttons

Other than Kojima with MGS games, who has ever had a good idea for using analog face buttons?

Just playing LBO karting with my son and I'm sitting with my DS pretty much at right angles to the TV, so I hope the move stuff isn't too forced - the camera wouldn't be able to see my LED strip if I had one right now.

I hope Sony gives us more than just boring ass red and blue when the first color options crop up. White with white via buttons is a must, followed by boomerang style silver and buttons. They can do blue and red later.

To illustrate what I just said:

4 bumpers and 2 triggers like the Razer Onza gamepad.

I just hope that is a touch screen and not a touch pad. I don't need a full RGB screen. Just like one of those 16 color low-res screen for basic icons and soft buttons. Would be great for games and media functionality.

you really dont need that for it to act like buttons. Who really looks at the controller anyway to press buttons?

Just found this (not mine):

that from this thread. gaf ->internet -> gaf

Wipeout Fusion used them, and that meant I had to use a Dual Shock 1 to play the game. On the Dual Shock 2 to maintain 100% acceleration you had to keep the button jammed down as hard as possible for the whole race.

Yeah, good for towards/away from the screen but also as an on the fly calibration for any gyro drift

Yep, that's what I imagine it'll be used for. The DS3 could already have done pointer controls (it has a gyro and all that jazz), but it obviously didn't have any way to get automatically calibrated to a certain position and orientation, which it seems like the DS4 will thanks to its shiny LED thingy.

I'm really only asking because I remember last year when the updated version of the Wii U Gamepad got leaked and the guy got fired and I think sent to court?

Judging by sales they probably spent more money on lawyers prosecuting the leaker than they've made from WiiU.

Love this controller by the way but still sort of hoping for a surprise splittable design.

I know it's a touchpad, but I'm with those who would have liked it to be a very simple LCD touchscreen. I'm thinking similar to the one used in the Verizon 4620LE hotspot below:

Simple one or two color display just for some icons. In fact, the one on the 4620le is nearly the exact right size I believe.

I'd love to see the back side of the controller, to see the new shoulder and triggers. And to confirm if it includes the 3D camera to do weird things in the air with your fingers.

If it had a screen it would easily be $100 a controller...you know what happens to controllers? Well someone show me a controller theyve had for years that they havent mangle to some degree

My launch Sixaxis controllers are still working just fine. Hell, my Dualshock 2's from 2003 are still doing great.
