this smells like the rumour of always-on and no used game will happen, ms is using exclusive content/game/partnership from ea to leverage and vice versa.
Timed Exclusive DLC content.
Microsoft will show off the dudebro shooters at their conference to make up for the weaker hardware. And try to buy their way into your pockets with timed-exclusive DLC from EA.
people here really thinking about 3rd party exclusives from EA are quite dellusional. the amount of money missed by EA would be too much.
think of timed stuff or kinect integration
Are people really celebrating about MS and EA teaming up?...
stop this planet I want off.
Or there just aren't any third party exclusives and this is all bullshit. You know, the by far most likely scenario.
Not to shit all over the thread, but I just looked at my game collection, and realized, I just don't really give a damn about EA.
Yeah I guess some people will get off on the dick waving that will ensue on any type of exclusive partnership. But I think the last EA game I purchased was Madden '09... Or maybe Mass Effect 2 or 3.
I'm not a sports gamer anymore, so I'm trying to find something in the EA catalog that I would miss next gen if they weren't around on my platform of choice. Something that I just couldn't live without or find something comparable from another studio. Hell, I'm coming up empty.
They could announce Leapfrog LearningPad exclusivity tomorrow and I'd give give a fuck about it as much as I do today.
It's exclusive DLC. That doesn't mean shit.We already know there are going to be 3rd party exclusives. Bungie and Activision's timed exclusive falls under this for the PS4. Any exclusive at this point should be up for consideration.
exclusive DLC/timed exclusive DLC has shown little to no impact on a game's sales. It is a quick way to amortize development and advertising costs for publishers, but it isn't that high dollar in the grand scheme of things. Most of these large publishers are taking the payment for exclusives to get a quick gain on the short term without realizing they are alienating a whole console worth of gamers. In the long run, publishers end up loosing money because of the limited pool of consumers they are selling to. So, they add in micro transactions to offset their costs but make the same mistake of catering to one console over the other.
They all but have been. Games cost too much for any of the first parties to front in their entirety, which is what it takes to land exclusives now. DLC doesn't mean shit, no one cares, the publisher just sees less ROI on that particular DLC pack in exchange for more up front money from the console manufacturer.Money hats of any sort should be done away with if these companies want to keep the consumer base they currently have, not trying to subdivide them at the chance of making a quick buck.
That's what I'm thinking. Most likely DLC timed exclusives. Although aren't Crytek working on a game for the next x-box?people here really thinking about 3rd party exclusives from EA are quite dellusional. the amount of money missed by EA would be too much.

What money will they be missing out on with two consoles that are starting from zero?
It's not like they are missing out on 75m users like if they had a PS3 or 360 exclusive.

What money missed? Hasn't EA been losing money every quarter? They really don't have anything to lose.

more like most of the people are bashing EA and MS
It will probably have zero impact on PS4 sales, but kudos to MS for trying. (if true).

I think it would be just a tad different if this rumor was going the other way around.
I love how just the idea of EA going to do any deal with MS is viewed as "Devils Work" and people are ready to completely write the publisher off. I think it would be just a tad different if this rumor was going the other way around.

No used games games, online required, timed exclusives, $70 games. Good luck with all that MS.

They would be missing roughly half of the next gen units to sell to. It would be idiotic.
Well what did you expect? up until now Microsoft was in bed with Activision and Sony was in bed with EA. Now Microsoft is having a fucking threesome.I love how just the idea of EA going to do any deal with MS is viewed as "Devils Work" and people are ready to completely write the publisher off. Of course; if Sony grabbed exclusive BF4 content there would be posts shitting all over the Next Xbox.

I dont know, but your avatar is God Tier. Are people really celebrating about MS and EA teaming up?...

Cool. So we can probably expect to see BF4 and maybe Crytek will make an appearance with a new IP.
If MS were EA exclusive?
Im not sure I know how that would work.
Next gen Xbox with EA games only. We will call it Orbox.
Why wouldn't this be true?
Nintendo also announced an unprecedented partnership with EA.

No it wouldn't. Nobody really likes EA either way.
Why would timed exclusives be bad for MS?
Do you say that about Quantic Dream as well?
Tell you what, if the thing is locked to single-use and always-on, EA (and every other publisher) are going to decide it's their platform of choice very very quickly indeed. It'll be the ultimate argument for exclusivity deals.
