Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | February 2013 | The most desirable handheld in Japan

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
What is the best control scheme to use for MotorStorm in your guys opinion?

Definitely the one that goes left/right according to your cars position. The other one is waaaay to imprecise for the task later in the game.

Edit: Top of the page bamboomKABOOM.

Motorstorm RC - $4,99
motorstorm-rc-playstation-vita-1324978400-015.jpeg

Awesome game if you have a few friends playing it, and even without. You wont find more content on any other Vita game for less bucks. Basically endless replayability and loads of fun if you are into highscoring games. I cant recommend any game higher than this, especially considering the price/fun/size ratio.

Sound Shapes - (Edit, ah sorry, its $15. Still worth it though) (discounted for half the price until next tuesday!)
b5add246

Unfortunately, a bit short on original dev content (but has a great community!). If you like music and like to dabble with sound tidbits and level creators, this game is a must have.

Sine Mora - $9,99

Really well done shmup with slight framerate issues at certain points. Very challenging and tons of content through a challenge mode and leaderboards. Very enjoyable time system as well (you lose time when being hit, not life). Oh and its gorgeous.

Surge - $3,29

Super addicting and fun puzzle game. The puzzle system is basically a match-type game, but feels pretty original due to the way they setup the mechanics. Lots of potential for a full blown game later, since this is a bit missing content atm and has only one mode. For $3,29, its an awesome and highly original time waster however.

Uncharted Fight for Fortune - $4,99
349016.png

Its a card game tying in to the main game, which nets you powered up cards ingame. However, even without that, its an enjoyable card game with a surprisingly deep card combat. No story mode, but battling through the enemies and unlocking the ingame cards will take you about 30 hours.

No Heroes Allowed - $9,99
No%20Heroes%20Allowed.jpg

Overlooked gem. Its a PSP game, but the graphics look pixel perfect on Vita and it might as well be a native resolution game. Its a dungeon environment simulator basically. You set up monsters in the dungeon by providing nutrients and balancing a monster food chain to make sure the best and strongest monsters survive to fight the intruders. Very original and highly recommendable.

Urban Trial Freestyle - $9,99
704233_301832546592854_1934064727_o.jpg

If you like the Trials based gameplay, but Trials might have been a tad too unforgiving, this game is a great alternative. Its not as hard, and has some framerate issues here or there, but loads of fun. The leaderboard integration of single challenges throughout a level (Make the highest jump, etc) was a genius idea and adds a lot to the replayability for highscores, considering its unfortunately a bit low on content (Finished the game in 5-8 hours, havent yet 100% it though since some challenges are pretty hard still) . Good looking game that was very fun however.

Pure Chess - $7,99
7285428832_16348344a1.jpg

Obviously only recommendable if you like chess, and probably only if you have someone on your friends list to play with. This game was amazing to get some chess games right before going to bed. Havent played chess in ages and this game reignited my passion for the game (although I was missing some moves lately, sorry guys!). Looks really pretty, and although it has sometimes some slight framerate issues (really slight), its a very enjoyable and pretty game. As I said, all depends on how much you like chess of course.

Hustle Kings - $8,99

Fantastic billard game with a surprising amount of depth and possibilities ingame. Lots of modes and stuff to unlock as well. The controls take some getting used to, but once it clicks, its the best billards game I've played so far and definitely one of the better games on Vita. If you have even a slight appreciation of billards, grab this game.

ah I see, anyways I know that the ps3 to vita connection is done over the wifi, there is only like 15 games that use it though. I personally just wouldn't risk it and do without, but someone else might have actual experience with this situation.

If he's got a PS3 with custom fw, he can pretty much remote play anything, I believe.

per the media create thread .. seems Vitas are selling post price drop. Could this be a realization of being "the most desirable handheld in Japan" ..

It could. I hope it does, I love my 3DS but good Vita sales would give JP developers a reason to develop on it. It'd be the first week the Vita has outsold the 3DS, but I beleive.

yes, believe!
Vita is the most desirable handheld in Japan!

but temper your expectations though xP

ah, I forgot about that since I don't have CFW on my ps3. hopefully someone can answer his question then. I suppose the CFW thread would be more be more likely to have an answer.

edit: I fail at jokes :/

What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 is the much better game :p

Honest question: Why? No Heroes allowed seemed cheaper and had more content/flexibility.

did I mess up my joke...I thought they were the same game they had to change the name to no heroes allowed after launching the psp UMD version due to legal issues o.o;

edit I did mess up...
it did have a name change but from Holy Invasion Of Privacy, Badman! 2: Time To Tighten Up Security! :/
is no heroes allowed the third one then?

Yeah, exactly. Thanks for the attempted help, guys.

So on this sale, what day next week will the sale titles switch over? My Vita won't be here until like Tuesday, so I may bite the bullet and just buy Super Stardust Delta and Motorstorm RC complete on the PC browser before the prices go up. Since the sale started on Tuesday I'm guessing the prices for week 2 will flip on Tuesday?

Yea, Stewart said in the official thread the sale starts on the 5th.

hmmm i have conflicting info - i'm not sure who it is but in the JAW interview GoldenHelmet ( from JAW) posted in that thread that SW would be on sale the week after next.... someone also asked him what happened to the late feb release date for Munch's and he said its been pushed back a bit but is still going on.

Are there any good puzzle games on vita? Like crossword or sudoku. Puzzler collection was my most played psp game lol

I've never played MGS: Peace Walker. Got some funds in my wallet and was thinking of picking it up. Question; Is it worth it to just get the HD ps3 version? I'd like to be able to play this on the Vita but if the PS3 version is that much better, maybe I should go with that. Any suggestions?

Yep, No Heroes Allowed is Badman 3.

Sine Mora is only 2-3 hours long?

Theoretically, took me 6-8 hours to finish the campaign though. And the challenges will take you a LONG time to finish. Lots of content in there.

Finally continued playing Trails in the Sky, and I cant believe they actually put midgame spoiler:
a whole freaking theatre play into the game
, haha.

Can you turn off the motion controls and shit that made the bow horrible in Sigma?

The bow has a dedicated icon on the touch screen. That's it. You use the right shoulder to fire.

It seems to have auto aim, in the sense of when the reticule is of close proximity, it'll lock on to the enemy for you.

Just jump or hit any face button and Ryu puts his bow away - it's nice as both are equipped. The face button is not on the direct corner of the screen, and again - it's just a quarter (coin) sized circular icon.

No gyro or back touch shenanigans at work in the game.

I still play Justice League Heroes on my Vita. Love that game

It's sad that WBI don't care about the Justice League or other DC super heroes anymore and just keep throwing Batman games at us, not having games with decent budget for the Justice League or anyone other hero is really stupid.

at least gimme a 2D Cassandra Cain game like Mark of the Ninja.

Are they supposed to say "Success-Closed" right from the beginning? or does it take a while for them to get "closed"? All of mine say pending with a couple saying "Accepted"
They should have started with Accepted (used referral but didn't register Vita) or Success-Pending (used referral and registered Vita). None of my referrals after 1/29 hage been updated yet, but I did get one Success-Closed and multiple Unsuccessful before that.

I was hoping we would get a Man of Steel game to capitalize on the popularity the movie will surely bring. But I suppose we would have heard about that by now

it's WB, they will make a new Batman game with Superman cameo in it to prepare fans for Man of Steel.

Alright, got Legend of Dragoon. Got my brother bringing his PS3 over so I can download it. Just have to plug in the Vita and copy it over right?

I bought What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 on my Vita due to GAF recommendations because I was even a member, but errm... could someone pretty please explain to me how to actually play it?

I'm sure I'm not reading the tutorials properly lol.
