Makeup on women (and men, sure) - what's your opinion?

Believe it or not, there are actually people who prefer literally no makeup. One of the reasons (but not the only reason) is that it says "I am truly not afraid to show you myself exactly as I am, even if I have a pimple or a scar or something." And that attitude is a turn-on.

I don't tell a girl what to do though. There's nothing wrong with wearing makeup or not wearing makeup. A person should do what makes them happy.

There are some, a lot of people who confess to "not liking makeup" have posted women utilizing it however.

My attitude towards women wearing make-up is that it looks nice and is appropriate if the make-up emphasises the woman's features (full lips, long eyelashes, pretty eyes, etc) rather than create new features. Plastering make-up all over eyes to make them look completely different is creating a false appearance, and don't even get me started on false eyelashes, hair extensions, stick-on nails and all that rubbish.

Not that I have any say in what woman should and shouldn't do, just my observational opinion. My wife hardly ever wears make-up, and when she does she looks really beautiful but I can't even noticed that she's put anything on her face.

As a fan of Survivor, I always think people look better on the show than when they do during the reunion show when they have tons of makeup on.

Let's be real, most prefer some makeup as opposed to all natural, all the time.

Of course most people do. It's the norm now. Seeing a natural girl is so rare; it just looks odd. It IS odd to not wear makeup, which is kind of a huge contradiction if you think about it. Natural shouldn't be odd.

There is no "idea" of no makeup. There's a preference for light makeup. Many people don't know what sans makeup actually is.

Can't stress this enough. At this point we just are so heavily conditioned to women wearing makeup that we don't even notice when they are wearing it.

That girl is definitely wearing makeup in the photo on the left.

I'll still make a case for no makeup at all, but I feel the need to point this out.

It's odd in a sexy, appealing way if you ask me.

I need to make a pic. Me in no makeup what so ever. And light makeup. See what people prefer. I'm not even drawing any conclusions on which though.

I feel like white girls benefit the most from the make-up since it adds some contrast and color I guess to their face whereas girls with darker skin, hair, and eyes have that built in so to speak. But I have no idea how much eye shadow, etc. they actually wear.

Pretty much.
After looking over the pictures in the OP, I start to like the natural look a lot more.

We've been constantly exposed to "enhanced" faces from birth. We just have to expose ourselves to the natural look a lot more before our preferences will start to chang, and we should be doing so because make-up is pointless once we forget about social conventions.

Well, just because you may look worse with no makeup doesn't mean ALL girls look worse without makeup. I think most guys mean that they prefer a girl that can pull off no makeup. Not that they prefer it in general. I hope my point is clear since I mean no offense.

Honestly I've always preferred little to no makeup. It's actually very sad when you see a woman who is hot as hell naturally who puts so much make up on that it actually makes her look uglier. Hell a prime example is some of the Jersey Shore chicks. I was actually shocked once to see Snookie without a shit ton of makeup and shit. She was actually very pretty without the makeup. I almost couldn't believe it was the same person.

Good makeup, well applied, can change an attractive woman into an absolute stunner. I'm all in favour. Dark, smokey eyes in particular.

Clown-paint looks daft but that's the fault of the person applying it as much as the makeup itself.

I like both. It's cool that a woman can paint her face different ways for different occasions and it's good when she can feel at ease with her own face too.

wearing makeup every day makes your skin break out and look bad.

You're supposed to wash it off!

Honestly, I find these conversations a little off putting, as though women are supposed to be paying attention to them to figure out how much makeup to use. I'm pretty sure most of the women I know wear the makeup they personally want to wear, and it generally looks good on them, which is probably why they chose it. To me this is like saying that you like women more if they wear certain colors of clothing. Makeup is a personal choice.

One thing I did notice is that people on the East Coast wear a lot more makeup than here on the West Coast. I just assumed all the bullshit cold weather had destroyed their pores or something.

While you and I might share the same taste, it's important to note that it's not "sad" just because someone chooses a look that makes them happy just because it doesn't fit your idea of beauty. Women aren't just pretty things for you to look at, and you know that already, but sometimes there are value implications in our words that we don't realize.

A lot of what people consider "natural" is still makeup, such as applying enough concealer/foundation to remove blemishes, covering up eye bags, darkening the eyebrow with a pencil, etc.

It's a riot. For me anyway. I don't like the way I look without make up on. I'm not that wild about it with make up, but it's better. I don't wear a huge amount of make up during the day (a light foundation to even my skin tone, some mascara so you can actually see my eyelashes, and some powder to reduce the shine), but on a night out it's nice to pretend you have flawless skin etc.

Is the middle picture a trick-picture?
Because you do look quite alright without make-up.

Well it's not like I'm being blasted with unflattering light.

In before someone does some photoshop on your knees...

Those fools it's my elbows that are sharp.

Yeah my skin is pretty bad. =/.

This does make a very big difference. I have a pretty solid track record of being incapable of distinguishing between light makeup and no makeup in normal lighting conditions, but the difference is very noticeable under intense light, like a camera flash.
