In my dreams BF4 has 3 time eras. In reality it's all boring MW again.

If they remake the BF1942 intro and reveal it to be ingame and BF1944 I'll forgive them for the millions of bad decisions they have made since BF2 Booster Packs and onwards.

But yeah it will be be another modern military shooter.

Tease in gif form.

You already know the answer to this. EA are not going to leave money on the table.

This will not happen, plenty of holiday sales for 360/PS3 this year.

well if it supports cross gen the nextgen machines better support 64 players.

BF3 seemed like it was balanced first for 64 players then scaled back to 24(to poor effect) for consoles.

Being cross gen would seem contradictory to what EA is ultimately trying to achieve with FB2 but scalability is a feature they touted heavily on.

It still seems like an exorbitant cost involved to run servers for 4-5 different consoles and PC. I mean this is EA we're talking about.

BF4 being 64 players on PS4/720 would be a major selling point and reason alone to invest in nextgen.

idk, I'm bad at this sorta thing

I would assume that like BF3 on PC/360/PS3, EA would also push for players to rent their own servers for BF4 to diminish the costs.

If the leak is true (signs point to yes so far), the next gen consoles will have 64 players, which I agree will make a strong case for me to jump into next gen when the game comes out.

So the second thing in the teaser looks like something is underwater (submarine)? Third thing looks like a tank. But what is the thing in the first part of the teaser with the water drop? Is it a gun?

Could be water condensation in an aircraft. To give air, land, sea.

Gotta love a teaser of a teaser for a teaser...right?

The water in that clip confirms DICE new love for rain/water effects, and I approve.

It looked too good to be in-engine, so I hope the reveal trailer on 3/27 isn't some CGI bullshit. Thankfully DICE almost never does that, and you can bet they'll reveal with in-game footage.

It's not going to be a teaser for the 26th / 27th. It is a full reveal just like BF3 at GDC 2 years ago.

I thought the underwater thing in the teaser might be a close-up on a naval mine... but now looking at the gif I'm not so sure.

I hope its a naval mine and certainly looks like it with particles floating in water. That or it's a tank coming out of shallow water.

yeah might just be tank threads...

It's certainly tank treads at the end... I mean, just before that though, a different object is submerged. Could be a hatch, or anything really. Anything riveted. And that's how you fabricate most military-engineered submersibles... so again... could be anything.

So what's your issue exactly? You're either complaining that they're holding back content, releasing too much content, or over pricing content. All of which is bullshit.

Online pass aside, EA did something very smart in giving away the first expansion for free to those who bought new for the first shipment. It also made me realize the value in each expansion and eventually made me invest in Premium. More of that, less online passes please.

My only complain was the lack of true BF experience. The game was COD´zide and dumbed down to "street fights". It lack that feel of a grand scheme, someone watching from high above (the commander obviously), that hardened squad with the leader that could hold against all odds (oh kubra dam, oh the memories).

But i really liked BF3, and have high hopes for the 4 (this time TRUE NEXT GEN i hope)

I hear this a lot, but the most popular BF2 map was Karkand by a landslide.

eh?

Battlefield 1942 had:

Japanese
Americans
British
Italians
Canadians
Russians

Battlefield 2 had
Euro
American
Chinese
Middle Eastern Coalition
Russian

it's just the newer BF games have two factions...those games had a diverse set of weapons, vehicles, authentic dialogue etc

With BF3's DLC we technically still had this. you would probably have enough to have kits for
American(M4, M16, ACR, etc)
German(G3, G36C, UMP, etc)
British(L85, L96, L86, etc)
Chinese( KH2002, QBZ-95B, QBB-95, etc)
Russian( AKS-74u, AN-94, AEK-97,etc)
with plenty of others like the Famas(France) thrown in.

Imagine the amazement if they brought naval warfare back. That's of course a long-shot, but the reactions would be priceless, especially with people who weren't ready for 4 yet.

On current gen consoles... there would literally not be a single infantryman on the ground.

I completely disagree with this, and I have played every Battlefield title since the beginning. The DLC "Close Quarters" was CODesque but that was about it.

Certification for vehicles? I'm pretty sure the M1A2 Abrams tank is it's real name. As a matter of fact, i know it is. Planetside is a sci-fi game...

Uh...what? What does that have to do with certification?

Nirolak if you're watching, could you update the OP title with the public reveal date, the 27th? I doubt any of us will be attending the press event, so that date is the one we should circle.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
So, what do you have to do to get the "I was there" dogtag from this?

For me, a real Battlefield experience is cramming your squad into the lone helicopter in Mashtuur City and wrecking havoc; it's infiltrating an island in the dead of night on Devil's Perch; it's grappling into the upper floor of the palace in Warlord and sneaking behind enemy lines; it's swimming with your friends over to the enemy's carrier in Gulf of Oman; it's boating through the mist in Songhua Stalemate; it's being surrounded and holding out in the middle of nowhere in Highway Tampa; it's commanding your team to victory... Battlefield 3 had none of those moments for me.

Hopefully BF4 will be a return to form. If the rumors about commander mode are true and the chinese faction returning, it sure feels a lot more like BF2.

Please make the PS4 version 1080p60. I'd love to see them re make some BC2 maps as well.

The Chinese leak rumor, which has been accurate so far, is that the PS4 version will be 1080p/60/64 players and EA kind of hinted at that on their fiscal call. Here's hoping that's true.
