The Chinese leak rumor, which has been accurate so far, is that the PS4 version will be 1080p/60/64 players and EA kind of hinted at that on their fiscal call. Here's hoping that's true.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd be so happy with BF3 Ultra/4x MSAA level graphics and 1080p60 on PS4.

That's an amazing shot considering it's on consoles.

That it is. If it were on PC with kb/m in that situation it wouldn't have been impressive unless they also took out that EOD bot, the two guys in the garage, and then no-scoped the sniper on the warehouse roof, all in the same time frame.

My only complain was the lack of true BF experience. The game was COD´zide and dumbed down to "street fights". It lack that feel of a grand scheme, someone watching from high above (the commander obviously), that hardened squad with the leader that could hold against all odds (oh kubra dam, oh the memories).

But i really liked BF3, and have high hopes for the 4 (this time TRUE NEXT GEN i hope)
I wouldn't say there was a lack of the true BF experience, in the launch product at least. It was there but the execution was meh. It wasn't so much an attempt to copy CoD but rather a really, really sad attempt at trying to reignite the Karkand spark in the form of Seine Crossing, Grand Bazaar and Tehran Highway. Then there were the 4 "true" Battlefield maps, 3 of which weren't good. Then two linear maps that didn't belong anywhere near Battlefield. The base product was really lackluster.

The good thing about BF3 is that all the praise of, "finally, Battlefield has 64 players and jets and prone again! it's not CoD or Bad Company, everyone celebrate!" has been wiped clean and now the expectations have been raised. Some of the things that were in premium (even though they were already present in previous Battlefields) like CTF, Conquest Assault and Air Superiority should be present in the base game for BF4.

I'd love to see them re make some BC2 maps as well.
Beyond the player count problems (none of the BFBC2 maps were designed with 32 vs 32 in mind) they wouldn't be able to do that unless BF4 adds a lot more destruction. It would be too embarrassing for DICE if the BFBC2 version of a map offered more destructibility than the BF4 version.

Yeah...maybe just re do Arica Harbor and Port Valdez somehow. Loved those maps.

What, you don't want to suffer through this for 4 hours straight?

I'm going to my psychologist. I hate those guys! But it probably wasn't their fault, maybe of the people who posted the sensationalist title to their stream.

Someone post that image of one of those guys saying "U mad GAF?". Still makes me laugh.

Tease in gif form.

Imagine that tank track rolling out of the water and over a helmet lying on the beaches of Normandy, similar to this familiar shot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7DQXewB5RME#t=71s

If the reveal would do something similar leading to a full 1944 announcement I think my head would explode like it was in the helmet being driven over.

Sadly we'll probably see another modern shooter in BF4 given the money and marketing they've put into BF3. 1943 was fun for what it was and I would love a full return to WWII glory in Frostbite.

Before the "I'm tired of WWII..." comments start, what was the last WWII FPS you purchased (other than 1943), let alone one with Battlefield gameplay? How many modern day FPS games have you purchased in the time since purchasing that last WWII game? For me it was probably CoD 3, which came as a pack-in with my 360, so for me its been about 6 years between full WWII games.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I personally want a return to WWII if for no other reason than the weapons and lack of any laser targeted lock-on bullshit that has completely taken over the combat in modern warfare battlefield.

I really really hate that shit... and it didn't exist in the 1940s so WWII is my preference. Also, the planes were much cooler back then.

But modern war theater is just too successful for them to move away from. They made way too much money on BF3 for us to get anything different for a long while, I suspect. Unless it's packed into an expansion or something.

I am excited for bf4 on the ps4. For that, there is no doubt.

But as soon as I get my new pc, I am buying red orchestra 2. I have a ww2 need that needs to be itched.

Man, if only bf 1943 wasnt dropped like a sack of fucking potatoes. The fuck dice/ea?

Really curious to see if this can match the graphics of Killzone: Shadow Fall (1080p 30 fps)

I'm guessing the fidelity won't be as good. I don't expect much of a leap from BF3 on PCs.

Imo that game was crappy. It played crappy.

And I love WWII...

Oh God I remember that.... Sat through the whole fucking thing listening to these guys who didn't have a clue about the game just to show two seconds of footage from their camera over the shoulder of some dude. I will never get those hours back :(

Not sure how this will turn out, and fuck EA and all that, but one thing I will say is that the US Government should invest it's money in DICE on military simulation contracts over Crytek. Imo BF3 simulates a war scenario, inc weapon feel, visuals, sounds, animations et all, far more realistically and accurately than any of the Crysis games.

Now obviously I'm not sure exactly what these Crytek simulations are like, but I would have assumed some of the realism would have translated in to the games (Crysis) which they don't seem to have done nearly as well as BF3.

What are the odds that they will start off with a multiplayer reveal instead of singleplayer? I'm pretty sure that's what a vast majority of Battlefield players would be interested in.

I hope this is a joke. Military doesn't look for "weapon feel or visuals" in milisim games. What they want is accurate ballistic modeling and extreme attention to detail. What Crytek does with it's Crysis series has no bearing on that since it's a sci fi FPS that's not trying to be realistic. No one has actually ever seen Crytek's milisim games because they aren't open to the public.

If Battlefield is 60FPS... Oh my God.

Let's hope not because then there isn't going to be much improvement in terms of visuals from BF3. The game is already looking like a expansion pack with it's 1 year development.

They need to sell 64 players to the console crowd who have never seen the full Battlefield experience IMO.

Based Guerilla >> Based Dice.
...bitch please.

I just like posting that picture, lol.

Really though, I expect nothing short of incredible from DICE. BF3 is still one of the best looking games on PC, and now that BF4 can take advantage of more power from next gen consoles I expect it to blow us away visually. Especially with the rumored weather effects...I think DICE will come to play.

Really? You'd rather have more eye candy than 60 fps in a competitive MP game? I consider myself a pc graphics whore, but would much rather see 60 fps and BF3 on Ultra level graphics.

Based Guerilla >> Based Dice.

You must be talking about the single player. Even then they can't get the basics of aiming a gun in FPS right. I do like the art style and setting of Killzone though.

I guess can see where you are coming from. If the game is 1080p60 on PS4, the pc version won't have as high a ceiling to separate it from the console version unless you go up to 1440p.

It's just a personal thing for me, I prefer my fps with a controller. I actually got into PC gaming for BF3 coming off BC2 on PS3. Problem is I suck at kb/m in fps, also we had a great group of PS3 gaffers for those games.

When did you get to see the game? What can you tell us about it?

I'm talking about graphics.

that said, had a lot more fun with KZ2 mp than anything from DICE this gen.

This is Battlefield's chance to get even more recognition. If Battlefield 4 Launches with the PS4 with 64 player matches at 60 fps I can see it become even bigger then it is now. I want Destruction 2.0 from BC2 or better..

I'd also love to see (for this and all PS4 games) them allow pre loading for the digital version of this game. Stuff like this and sports games are ideal for being on the hard drive. Also unlock it at midnight.

Already is for me :)

(ultra settings with 4x AA by the way)

I don't see any reason why they couldn't further optimize their engine for better lighting and physics and still make it run at 60 fps on PS4 and PC. There's actually a lot to improve on. In fact with PS4's heavy emphasis on compute tasks, crazy physics and particle effects shouldn't be surprising at all.

Yes it is. 1 year of preproduction and 1 year of development, if you are following the rumors that also say it's 60fps.
Damnit, do I really need to post the "chronology of Battlefield releases" list again? It's SOP for DICE ( a very large studio ) as well as many other developers in the industry, like it or not.

Yeah, they were only drawing on a white board for the first 12 months.

Won't matter. Someone else will come along about how soon it is after BF3's release. Even though, BF3 released in less time from BC2's release than BF4 is from BF3's.

I think it will look a lot of BF3 and play a lot like BF3.

End Game, particularly.

I hope they go with more of a aesthetic approach, but whatever. I just need it to control well on consoles.

So the aiming/deadzone/input lag or whatever it was didn't hinder that experience for you? BC2 had my favorite aiming (better than BF3) and maps of the gen.

I adjusted to it, even if it wasn't ideal. I absolutely adored the core gameplay of the MP.

Enjoyed BF3 as well, but not nearly as much. Regardless, I never really felt that the graphics of the battlefield games (on consoles) were anything special.

With ambitions of 64 players and 1080p/60fps, I'm skeptical of there being a tangible difference than what currently exists on decent PCs.

I'd imagine the military looks for all of the above. And there's no reason to think that DICE couldn't do those calculations or physics just as well if not better than Crytek. Looking at the games as an example, simulation wise DICE are miles ahead of Crytek.

I think of it like F1. Real cars might not be near the performance of F1 race cars, but some of the technology is passed down and implemented in commercial vehicles. I'd have assumed Crytek would have reaped the rewards of the military simulation/training programme stuff in their games, but some of the physics, animations, sound effects etc are just off in the latter, especially compared to some of the competition.

Imagine if it has all three era's, WWII, Modern day and 2143 :F . Not gonna happen, but it would be pretty cool and set it apart from CoD. The era's could be map specific so no using future weapons in the WWII maps.
