Amazon: Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut (Wii U/$50) - May 7

I seriously doubt digital sales are meaningful. Especially on a Nintendo console.

Wii U has 80% internet connectivity, the highest percentage of any current console. Fire Emblem Awakening did over a third of its first month sales digitally. Times are a-changin'.

Also, this is sales talk in an announcement thread. It is far beyond derailed.

If Nintendo fans are so bitter about getting a port from one of the best games of recent years. I really hope they just don't get anything at all in the coming future.

I'm just laughing as someone who got the game for $5ish on PC, played it, thought it was alright, and am now seeing a $50 price tag for my unplugged Wii U.

I think that's what I've done for almost every game I've purchased in my life time.

It's a bit of a trade-off if you buy on eShop though.

You buy a game for $50 and you get $5 back.

It's ZombiU. :|

Only 4 titles have surpassed 100K NPD after February, and only 1 after the holidays. NPD only covers the US, so Sonic has probably sold most worldwide and Zombii U most in the NPD.

The NPD thread is from Dec, a month later cream put up the top 15 showing Sonic second to Mario.

Soooo is this game any good??

It's pretty amazing. One of my alltime favourites, mainly because of the superb art direction and awesome soundtrack.

If you never played it and are somewhat interested I can highly recommend it, regardless of platform.

In all seriousness though, I bought Batman at full price. I'd be willing to pick this up as well if it includes pointer controls or some really good GamePad integration like Zombi U. Guess I'll have to wait for an official announcement.

Just because its a new console it doesn't mean re release of games should be full price. The devs n publishers are moaning the sales ate shit but they are making things worse by doing this

Im happy im part of the. 001% of gamers who skipped current Gen consoles till a few months ago. i haven't played anything. Just got a ps3 and wii u and enjoying the hell outta cheap good games. played entire uncharted series in 5 days for 20 bucks total.

Loved Batman on wii u so deus ex here i come. Thank you square enix lol. Though ill wait for $20 price drop of course. We are rare but we do exist.

I'm really happy about this news. Another game more people(including me) get a chance to play is never a bad thing. If you don't want to pay 50 dollars for it, don't.

This game is in a RE4 Wii type situation for me. A port of one of the greatest games from last gen (hopefully) upgraded.

I know this wont sell but I'm dying to hear more about the new content

I feel really jealous of people who will get to play this for the first time. It would be truly awesome (well, more awesome than it already is) if they insert The Missing Link DLC into where it's meant to take place in the main story. I can imagine the collective MGS2-style pant jizzing coming out of Nintendo only gamers.

Don't any of these publishers realize that releasing these old-ass ports at bargain prices will get the types of owners they complain about - the ones they say "only buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games" - to try their shit out? Get the entire Assassin's Creed saga (minus 3) on the system for $30, the Mass Effect Trilogy for $30, Dead Space 1+2 for $30... people will try it out at that price, and then chances are they will drop $60 day one for the next game. They are practically giving all of these games away for free on Steam as is. Do the same for the stereotypical closed-off Nintendo fan. They just might be rewarded for their efforts.

i'd assume zombi u has sold most worldwide seeing as it was available bundled in europe since launch

It's a great game. If they include all the DLC and proper Wii Remote and Nunchuck controls I will definitely pick this up.

+1

Wiimote/nunchuck controls are a perfectly good reason to reinvest, but fyi, as much as I liked the main game, the DLC is absolute drivel.

Cream's rankings usually have sonic in the top followed by Scribblenauts and Zombi, so it's entirely possible that Zombi was the first to cross the 100k line, but has been passed by those two.

The irony is that Ubisoft delayed Rayman Legends Wii U because could hurt PS3/360 sales for being... LATE PORTS?

Third-parties seems to be aware that late releases can hurt the sales, to the point to delay the Wii U version, but they seems to that on purpose for Nintendo system versions to sell badly to get the "it can't sell" excuse. There's no other valid explanation.

THIS. A HUNDRED TIMES THIS!

Or maybe (not that I believe it) they just want to prepare the userbase for the next title in the series that would also come to the Wii U. Apart from that there is no other reasonable explanation (that I can think of).

If the hacking is touch based then that's awesome, but I have this totally bad ass game on two platforms already :(

Lets elaborate on the bold comment you made. Do you know anything about the power of the Wii U? Do not post the CPU/GPU threads here on GAF there are only speculation comments. Is there any big budget game tailored for the console? Is there any first party Killer App game on the console yet? And what anything have to do with the power of the console for the port of Deus Ex Human Revolution?
The Wii U is comparable to the 360 and PS3. It outperforms them in some ways (twice the usable RAM, but with less bandwidth; CPU of worse compute performance; GPU about 1.5x the compute performance of the 360; DX10+ equivalent vs DX 9+ equivalent.)

It is not a technological leap that's traditionally associated with a generational transition. I'm not sure why people get salty every time this is pointed out.

It is a technological contemporary of the PS3 and 360, even if it's a "next gen" console. Publishers view it as such. EA/DICE refer internally to Durango and PS4 as Gen4, not Wii U.
The rest of the list I agree with. There is no real reason NOW to immigrate from Ps3 or Xbox 360 to Wii U, as there will not be a reason for Ps4 or Durango when they will come out. If 3rd party publishers continue with the cross gap releases. As you ,correct, make point about user base and limited audience is a serious hurdle to jump ship yet from Ps3 and Xbox 360 gen for the publishers investments. See watch dogs, thief, assassins creed and other big 3rd party hitters.
PS4 and Durango offer a substantial upgrade to consumers over their current hardware. Regardless of how much people try to downplay this as a transitional driver, it always has been.

Thief 4 is coming for PC, PS4 and Durango - I'm unaware of any current gen SKUs. Publishers are already investing in Gen4 titles.
The production cost severely destroyed most of the middle tiers publishers this generation, massive closure of studios all over the world because of the capitalistic crisis(so much for crisisproof industry some evangelist said in 2009).
Clearly, now that Nintendo has transitioned to HD development everything will be A-Okay.

The link for Deus ex Wii U got taken down by Amazon.

Someone done fucked up.

I wonder if Square Enix is annoyed by the page going until before they can make an honest pitch. I have to hope that they are smart enough to know that this has to be presented in a certain way for people not to automatically dismiss it or react the way we have. There was an opening for them to explain why this game exist and why they think it's fair to ask for $50 for it. That opening is effectively gone I think.

This will be the second big frachise game Straight Right has done for the Wii U that has been dismissed or seeing as failure not because of the quality of their port but how they've been handle by the publishers.

This is Enix testing out not only the level of port they can accomplish but also see if there is a market in the new console for titles like these.

The problem is in conflating interest (or lack thereof) in the port of a year old game with interest in a brand new title. They are not at all the same thing.

How was it? Are they a competent studio? Tempted to triple dip at this point.

bwahahahahahahaha

Aside from the nature of "what was included, what wasn't included", ME3 was a generally well done port.

Maybe it was a vocal minority, but I recall there being a very different opinion on that. But maybe it was just the game itself being terrible *shrug*

Aside from the value questions of "what was included? what wasn't included?" which are more indicative of what EA wanted to sell more than anything, ME3 was generally considered a well done port.

From what I've heard the port is solid. However it should be noted it was also done on incomplete dev kits as all launch day games were. Deus Ex should have been done on finalized dev kits with more updated SDKs at some point if they were still working on it in the last few months.
