Shueisha is trying to push Toriko HARD. It's volume sales are above average but not at OP/Naruto levels. It's sales haven't changed a lot in over a year. They're trying their hardest so Toriko will fill in the gap between Bleach/Naruto ending and Kishi/Kubo's new series. In all honesty, as soon as that happens, the big three authors will be back to be being...the big three series.
They got Assassination Classroom which sold over 1.5 million units with just 3 volumes. Pretty sure it will outsell Bleach this year.

Why do you say that? I can see cross gen but ps3 exclusives wouldn't make sense next year. Plus the new psn will be much easier on devs in terms of flexibility and development. I think kagari who interviewed japanese devs mentioned that the hard architecture on ps3 isthe reason japan didnt support the console as much as people expected. I wonder how many ps3s sold in japan so far and how much games usually sell in terms of numbers. If ps4 sells well, then you will definitely see lots of support from japan.

Depending on the full roster, I may be hype for this. Goku and Luffy are already a good start.

I wonder if it's possible to put popular Medaka Box characters in without completely breaking the game. They'd probably have to be massively gimped like the DB characters in these types of games.

I hope that they don't put too much Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Bleach characters in. One Piece are exception because their characters are more variable for move set-wise.

Have you really never heard of Jump Super Stars or Jump Ultimate Stars? Goku and Luffy in a game is nothing new.

All Fiction would have to be gimped pretty bad, but it could be used in interesting ways. Possibly use it to temporarily lock out meter, if the game uses meters like other fighters do.
They could get around that by just putting in Medaka with her Alter God Mode (kinda like Goku's Kaioken) and Zenkichi with some crazy powered up mode.
If this game is developed by Spike it won't matter. Everyone will play exactly the same.

Holy crap for a second I thought I was the only one who remembered this game, heck I thought even the designers of the game forgot about it lol.
Anyways I can't wait to see gameplay, more characters, and stages. I just hope I see Oga Tatsumi (Beelzebub), Allen Walker, Gintoki, and Bossun (Sket Dance). I under no circumstances want all 4 to be in the game for me to buy, but just seeing 1 of them would get me excited. I just hope the gameplay looks good because telling from the screens it looks like a 3D smash bros like how ZatchBell Mamodo Fury did it.
Though I don't know why I'm getting my hopes up when their's a low chance this will be localized

Since this is a fighting game it not being in English isn't a problem, it's just that I'd prefer to buy it in English. Not to mention I've never imported a game before (though I have been almost pushed over the edge to do so sometimes). If this game is good enough though I may have to just suck it up and import this baby.
How much do newly released games in Japan usually cost to import?
7k yen + shipping so I'm estimating $100

id probably get this local if it ever makes it lol. Doesn't seem interesting enough yet to warrant a import but theres no solid info so well see

If this game looks good enough to warrant a localization I wouldn't mind picking it up for that price. I just hope they go all out for this game like they do for Jump Ultimate Stars. If they do that with the content along with gameplay this game may be good.

I imported Max Anarchy last year, and that price sounds about accurate from my order. $97 total. Of course the exchange rate may be slightly different, so I'd say $100 give or take is a safe bet.

I just looked up Zentai Battle Royale and that looks like a really fun game. I'd be really happy if this game looked like that. Can't believe that game didn't come to the US.

Even though Jojo is getting its own game this year, I'm still hoping hoping that we at least get the obligatory DIO and Jotaro here. Dropping Steamrollers on the likes of Sasuke and Ichigo = win.

For example, the presence of the PS3 didn't immediately kill off the PS2, which still ended up getting Japanese support well into the PS3's early years.
My expectations are that 2014 will be chronicled by a good deal of eye-rolling and gnashing of teeth from Western PS4 owners as a number of Japanese developers keep on releasing PS3-Vita games to the tune of this one. Especially for games that are likely to be either Japanese-exclusive or otherwise explicitly Japanese-oriented.

I suppose early next year will get small budget japanese games on ps3/vita until the ps4 penetrates the market but most known japanese studios will support ps4. GDC is showcasing so many things to help devs with the system, I really think japan will support next gen well.
If wiiU beomes more successful then I can see devs developing for ps3/wii u as there would be a bigger market with those two vs ps4. We will have to wait and see how where the industry heads and what kind of profit devs make. On a positive note, since ps4 is x86 then devs can always do a simple port on psn for their ps3 games. It would be a smart move with a small effort. There is so much potential, we will have to hope for the best, but I think next gen will be much healthier then the current one.

For people who missed other thread, but SJ confirmed that Naruto is playable character.
Because Jump is trying to position Toriko in the top 3 along with One Piece and Naruto.
