Hey I know Pixie! She sucks!

I'm expecting the monster designs are the only thing I'll be familiar with while watching this as someone who's only played Persona games. Action wasn't very interesting. Pretty good ED song. Gravity defying boobs indeed.

Pachelbel's canon is found in many places and things. Its not so strange.

Yozakura Quartet isn't really good and Yasuda is a terrible artist, but Ryo-chimo already fixed his mess with his previous set of OVAs so we have no reason to not be excited for this.

So good.

I like the art style of this for some reason.

Ugh.. this look so ugly.

Hirai is terrible.

Nanoha StrikerS 5 (rewatch)

So we finally get to the first plot-related battle, and we get to see transformation sequences for Nanoha and Fate which are now a bit less lewd because they're adults now. Subaru was the only one of the new 4 that had a great transformation, Tiana's was ok but could have been more lewd, Caro's was boring and nobody cares about Erio. While the action was decent, it's really awful seeing Nanoha and company just fighting robot minions instead of combating other mages. It's just not Nanoha at all.

StrikerS doesn't exist. If you keep saying that maybe it will disappear.

The new White Fox fantasy, fast food show was not that bad, had some nice backgrounds and fast food cooking sakuga.
I guess Titan and this are the only shows I will watch this season.

I LOVE your avatar!

How can you forget Squid Girl?

I was wondering the same...

Don't know what Squid Girl is or what it's about. That being said...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

What's with your aversion to this show? Its adorable and punny. There's nothing wrong with it at all.

Sailor Moon 30

A pretty fun comedy episode. Not much to add to Regulus's evaluation of this really.

Meant to have less Kuroneko isn't it? In this case I can't agree!

less Kuroneko? I don't like where that is going. This show needs MORE of her and Kana's voice.

Spring sounds like it's off to a terrible start already. Good. Anime still sucks.

P.S. Nadesico has kind of settled down after the half-way point in the series but they still fuck up on the comedy/drama balance and the direction is unfortunately rather bad at times. I wish this show was far more competently made because it has a few interesting ideas to explore.

Nadesico is meant to be disjointed. Thats part of the fun and how shows of that era were made. Have you ever seen Those Who Hunt Elves?

This is also why of all the Super Robot War games, my favorite ones in terms of story are the games that include Nadesico. It's so odd to see the super-serious real robot series (Gundam most especially, since it tends to serve as a backbone to the game's crossover plot) play out their plotlines, while at the same time the Nadesico characters are around, being their usual selved (but can act serious when needed).

I'm so glad SRWJ got hard-translated. Nadesico and FMP Fumoffu really do bring out the WTFs from the rest of the cast. I'm also thankful that there's a script translation for SRWAdv - reading it, I find that Yurika and Bright Noah play off each other well.

Your name conjures up great memories of a show I really want to watch again.
Luckily so does my friend in town, so it will probably be one of the next things we watch (aside from finishing Steins;Gate).

My aversion was more to Trojita making a topic about it in OT. Because you know how that thread would turn out.

As for the show itself, I vaguely remember a number of people in here saying it sucks. You, BGBW, and...somebody else, who it is escapes me, say otherwise. But I'm really not looking for an overly cute show right now. I've got Tutu to watch, and Heartcatch to start, so that should suffice in that department. It's not exactly high on my to-do list.

Real Impressions:

This was a really solid first episode. It was very fun to watch and while it's not serious all the time I think it maintained that serious demeanor throughout. I think the color play is very cool and despite the liberal use of CG I think it blends well and has a glow/rainbow effect. It's a visual spectacle. Also, I noted that I did not like Hirai's designs when I watched the trailer but it totally clicks within the context of the episode as a whole. It totally works.

At its core the show is amusing. The comedic antics of the Rabbit Team is pretty great and despite them not getting along in their mock fights, their personalities meld well. It's especially fun to see their immediate reactions/impressions.

The mecha designs are very cool. All of them are different and you can see what each unit is for based on their visual construction.

I'm going to keep watching this and I'm freaking excited for the next episode.

TLDR/Joke Impressions:

- Female Rabbit Team members suck.
- All male characters on the team are awesome.
- I didn't know I was in this show. AND I'm a badass. Fuck yeah.
- Fucking Miyuki Sawashiro.

Nakama.

Maturity, bitches.
Don't worry, CG isn't quite the future of anime yet. I'll talk more about this evening tomorrow.

Hey, a wild Sawashiro! Incidentally, I think this was the look on my face as the episode ended.

I honestly have no idea how I feel about this show because it's so by the numbers that it's almost impossible to judge. It's like the most vanilla of vanilla contemporary science fiction concepts mashed up together into an inoffensive and vanilla series of bright lights and generic characters. You have the technobabble, you have the generic child heroes - where one of them literally aspires to be a hero, you have evil aliens, and you have... well, the "awakening".

I suppose it'll be 5 or 6 episodes before it actually plays it hand and reveals whether or not it's greater than the sum of its parts (I have no faith in science fiction shows being able to deal with their preamble in less time nowadays), so I guess I'll keep watching with a semi-exasperated Sawashiro expression.

Oh, I look forward to their Burger King product placement:

Hey, a wild Sawashiro!
(Incidentally, this role is unadulterated Sawashiro and what I wish Twilight sounded like... instead of the generic anime girl that she performs in MLP and Majestic Prince).

Probably because of the Persona 4 anime, I was looking for reasons to call this thing a piece of shit:

:wonzo

But other than also boring the game menu/UI aesthetics, I guess I really have no idea if this will bear any resemblance to Persona 4. I suppose if it isn't horrible, I can watch this in lieu of playing the game at least.

You can parody and critique other works without being a total mess and you can shift between tones without smashing the audience in the face - see Gintama.

Even if I were to accept the argument that being disjointed is part of the commentary then there's nothing that states you direction/animation/art has to be shitty. Although, in all fairness, the direction is rarely shitty, it's mainly just very average except in fight scenes when it's just very confusing. It's not surprising that the directors track record is so uninspiring.

And even if I were to accept the original argument and ignore my the problems with consistency I'm still baffled as to why it's taking so long to get where it's going. The pacing could certainly be considerably tighter.

The show itself is fine. Just don't ever watch the movie. I thought the show was the best thing ever, and am first to tell you the movie is waaaaaay worse. But seriously, the ability to switch tones at the drop of the hat is what I loved about Nadesico. It was a versatile show that could be serious without having to take itself as seriously as so many other real robot shows.

Goodness knows shows like Gundam 00 and Rah Shitphon could stand to be more like Nadesico.

Yu Kobayashi is playing Sasha Browse in Attack on Titan AKA "Potato Girl."

I don't think she'll have any speaking lines in the first episode, so firehawk's going to have to watch at least 2 episodes.

Wow, so this Samurai Bride thing is this season's Senran? lol
More like this season's Samurai Girls, since it's the second season. It's nothing like Senran.
Looks like.... uhh.... terribly horrendous show.
Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
I haven't heard of this Samurai Girls show but it looks kind of stupid.
It's like Sekirei with a weird visual filter over everything, yet far dumber.

What a scam! Maybe I'll just wait for the second episode. lol

So it's not half naked girls with big breasts fighting each other with martial arts? lol
