FIFA 14 Announced (360/PS3/PC, Vita?/PSP?)

Seriously guys, if there's no Wii U version, Nintendo should start thinking about abandoning the home console market :lol You can't have an home console without FIFA, you just can't. You can have a portable console without FIFA (see: DS till 2009), though (even if I don't see problems in FIFA 14 coming to both 3DS and Vita at all...not even on Wii U, but still...).

Yes because that would fix everything...

If there is no Wii U version of FIFA 14 than Nintendo will have to fix their relationship, even if they don't want to do what EA says, FIFA is important.

I really hope we don't get the same garbage efforts we got in 2005 when EA launched both Madden and NBA Live on the 360. Those games were complete garbage compared to the lower gen versions released at the same time.

It has been said that they will not do "full next gen" versions until they are ready. They don't want to go through the same problems that they faced during the beginning of this gen.

So yeah, expect improved ports of current gen during the first year or so.

I think it's safe to say that the first "real" next gen FIFA will be 15. As the transitional title, I expect 14 to be a roster update with better textures and lightning for the PS4/new Xbox

It's so much better on PC. I can't ever go back to the console versions after playing 13 on a SSD.

Never played it on PC since i'm not a big PC gamer and all my friends are on PS3 for online matches. Glad to hear it's much better there. Gives me at least a little hope for the PS4 versions...

Dunno, with Xbox360 it was FIFA 07/08 when they really moved to the next gen back in the day and not the first one(Fifa2006)

EA is going to have to do something amazing for me to go out an get this. I'm still playing FIFA 11 and I don't feel any need to go out and upgrade.

For anyone holding out hope for a Wii U / Vita version, note that neither format received the January transfer-window update. FIFA 14 is almost certainly not happening, and I'd imagine that the best case scenario is that EA put out an updated '13 (which is an updated '12) with squad-parity to the other versions come September / October.

I do think it flags a real problem with sports licensing - to my mind, if the license holder isn't interested in supporting a particular format properly, another publisher should be granted the opportunity to make use of it for that purpose. It would certainly make for a much healthier situation.

Wilshere on the cover, right? Right.
Considering NHL 14 has not been announced for next-gen, I'd be highly cautious here.

FIFA is the leading EA sports game though. It does it first then the rest of the games usually follow the next year.

Fix the servers.

Thats how I feel too.

I would expect that for two or three years, unless sales are immediately and consistently stellar. Relatively speaking, it's not an absolute quantum leap of a generation and I doubt it would make financial sense to go all-out while there's a thriving online eco-system on PS3 / 360. Expect the high end PC version with a few extra visual tassels.

After not being able to use half the features in Fifa 12 on PC, due to the game never connecting to their shitty servers, i'm not gonna buy another FIFA in a long time.

I personally thought that 13 was a very nice step up from 12. I don't expect 14 to be quite as big (first touch really changed how I played, personally) but I'm hopeful. FIFA, NHL and NBA 2k all took gigantic strides this gen. Somehow madden, NCAA and MLB 2k all got worse. MLB the Show stayed the same. NBA live RIP.

The Dreamcast says hello. No Fifa & no Madden worked out great.

If this leads to Nintendo making their own sports series, I'm fine with that.

That's what they should of being doing even though a NFL game isnt possible due to the licence but still I wish Nintendo were more proactive like Sega were.

I guess if Fifa 14 isnt announced for the Wii U that's the official confirmation that EA are dreamcasting the machine. That would be no Madden, no Tiger Woods and No Fifa.

This will also confirm that they where pushing their Origin crap into the WiiU online infrastructure, and Nintendo wisely said no. An of course, being the sh*tty company EA is, that would be the retaliation.

great, more LB+Y lob balls versus Real Madrids with 9-0-Ronaldo formations all day everyday

yep and why i have not bought a FIFA game since FIFA 10. May have got FIFA 11 actually!

EA need to put more focus into tactical formations and players positioning on the field. Stop allowing teams to counter attack so damn easily.

I will keep holding out hope that they include a mode that actually explains all the controls in a reasonably complete way, as the 4 page manual and defending-only-tutorial doesn't really do it.

And while I'm at it, a Leo Messi-sized pony.

I felt the skill games did a good job of teaching the basics last year

Yeah the skill games not only force you to use all skills but they also force you to learn some of the intricacies of the game that are easy to miss. They also force you to learn how to use manual. Shiiiiit, I wish they would force dudes to go through each skill game before going online in pro ranked.

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Maybe EA will release a 'Road to the World Cup' or similar at Next Gens launch like last gen, or did Fifa 06 come out first then RttWC? Either way, I remember it being pretty bad.
