nintendo
where even the ads seem cheap
These commercials are much, much better than what they launched with. They actually try to differentiate the U from the Wii. So, from a marketing standpoint, I think they're a success.
Page is dead. They are aware!!
It is still unclear what they are selling. They can't sell it in these 30 second commercials
This is creepy and overall a bad idea.Let's see if this works out...

They had a hardcore market pre-Wii? Everyone I knew thought the GameCube was the "kiddy" console. If you wanted "mature" games like Halo or GTA, you didn't own a GameCube.
Contrary to popular belief, Nintendo didn't leave the hardcore behind; if anything, it was the other way around. They made the same great games they always had, titles like Super Mario Galaxy and Donkey Kong Country Returns. "Casual" titles like Wii Fit sat nicely beside games like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Mario Paint, GameBoy Camera, etc.
That said, I do think they need to work on their image in the industry. Regardless of whether or not it's based in reality, third parties and gamers don't think of Nintendo as supporting "core" games, and Nintendo should try to address it however they can.

They released a similar spec console to a generation coming to an END.This is spot on. If nintendo had of released a similarly spec'd console in 2005/6 with standard controls, it would have been a capitulation. The irony of the situation, is that they have released a similarly spec'd console in 2012 and it heading that way.
"It's much more different than the Wii."
"I didn't realize how different it actually is."
Problem solved, stop complaining about "marketing."
they go beyond that:
1. "nintendo has something for everybody"
2. something for the youngest kids to play, the tablet is easier
3. something for dad, graphics are good
4. something for the family, we all get to play together
5. something to make you think it's a trending device in demand, "friends had one. we had to go look at it"
the fact that they don't spend any time showing off why the device is really good for the mother, i think it's a commercial made for mothers. these are all very important selling points for mothers. i don't know where they're showing this commercial yet but if its somewhere with an audience primarily made up of moms, i think it's a brilliant commercial. it is really crazy how efficient it is.

I mean Nintendo making a new commercial and showing off a game that looks better than PS3/360 can really help.

Nah, just ripping off Febreze: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdQk6_nzobQ
Did they also rename the console? The odd name is the real problem.
I think it's funny that some people don't think these are decent commercials. Everyone was complaining that they weren't conveying how the WiiU was a different console than the Wii, and now that they are people are still saying they suck. Makes no sense.
Make an ad trying to show it's a different, new console - don't show the console, show a father and son playing using the old Wii mote. Nice.
They released a similar spec console to a generation coming to an END.
Releasing a similar spec console to next gen consoles would not give these results. So stop with this capitulation nonsense.
Let's see if this works out...

Where's your proof? If you cannot back this statement, you are in no position to say this.Nobody would purchase a Nintendo console priced similarly to what the ps4/720 will be.
Humbly disagree. For this to even remotely happen, it means that this mother has to watch all 3 commercials and understand what is happening, and why thus is any different than the iPad she bought in Christmas that has been collecting dust as its no different than the iPhone she bought last year. They're bold to even sell it as an "upgrade" when they should be selling it as a next-generation console; a new gaming platform that all the original Wii owners would like and enjoy.
Its a very ineffective commercial. I don't even think they'll air it. I hope not. They need a new marketing strategy and should be willing to spend money on 1 minute commercials with more content than ever.
They remind me of Walmart commercials.
Yeah, very similar to the Walmart price match commercials.
Are these Walmart commercials?
Family on the couch enjoying their Nintendo Wii, while kid sits in an arm chair playing his Sega GameGear... Wait what?!
The Wii-U is such a weird contrast to the original Wii. The Wii feels like it was designed to be a family fun machine straight from the get go... here the Wii-U almost feels like it is more designed for an individual user than a whole group of people.... Sure you can append some controllers to the machine, but there's still only going to be one person using the Wii-U controller at a time.
This issue is probably never going to be fixed.I watched all three and don't remember seeing what the actual console looks like in any of them. Everyone playing on Wiimotes with one person on a Wii U Gamepad made it feel like the Wii U "upgrade" is just the Gamepad. Terrible marketing.
Sony copies Nintendo so noDoes Nintendo have a Marketing department?
