Part of the reason why I'm more interested in the "worst pic" competition than the "best pic" competition which has been going on for like 4 years already.
Not fair. Forza looks bad so you can only compare it to the most awful GT5 shots you can find. Rules are rules.
This is what Forza fanboy logic has devolved into.

You can make any game look bad. I just made Forza 4 look worse than Forza 2 and I'm confident I could find a GT4 shot that looks better than a bad Forza 4 shot but I'm not going to waste my time because comparing bad shots of games is incredibly pointless. You're only tired of comparing the good shots because Forza loses handily.
Never mind the fact that both sides of this argument agree GT5 looks better but whatever floats your boat.
Getting a PS3 didn't happen today, guy never came so I'll try to look into it tomorrow.

If you're looking to get a PS3 then it's probably best to wait a few weeks since Sony is going to release something called the Legacy Bundle, which will come with a 500gb PS3, GT5 XL and inFamous 2 for $300.
Lighting just looks blown out.
But it still looks better than Forza 2 in that shot. I can actually see inside the car, and less jaggies.
Sounds good, I'll see if I can get the money together.
There might be a few guys that will say otherwise but we all know GT5 looks better.

That is exactly the case.
The only Arguments you see are pointing how how much higher Forza poly counts are and that it simply doesn't look as bad as fanboys will claim.

Really? Looks like the lighting is totally broken in that Forza 4 shot -- not just the car, but also the environment. Just awful. Of course, I'm obviously not arguing FM4 usually looks that bad or that FM2 looks better. I'm arguing that it's silly to compare low points in games. You can make any game look bad.

GT6 is in an awkward position I must admit, GT4 came out a year before the PS3 was launched not within a few weeks of it

In FM4? Nope.
I have just realised (as was said earlier but I didn't believe) that your car has the same LoD as A.I cars do in races. I thought it was slightly higher but to my surprise it's the A.I cars that look a lot better than expected. So I started a race with 2 cars and compared them. While racing you cannot see any difference besides reflections and texture filtering. The only time a car would look like that in FM4 is when it's so far away you wouldn't even notice.

Its been said time and time again that that pic has horrible jpeg compression. Look at the following raws.
There is more than jpeg compression going on in that pic. Are you even looking at the dashboard?

People can talk all the crap they want on either side it doesn't change the following.
Forza 4 has 600 well made cars that all sound unique and drive unique, it provides a very fun and personalized experience for a racer.
GT5 is a great looking game with night racing, rally, weather and a awesome lighting engine that almost no one can touch right now.
I hate see these dumb comments claiming either have superiority when a real racer and car guy would play and enjoy both for what they are.
Both games offer unique experiences and both are very fun and good sim racers.
Forza 4 has 600 well made cars that all sound unique and drive unique, it provides a very fun and personalized experience for a racer.

There is nothing wrong with comparing but there is no need for the trolling that continues in this thread. Or for that matter the destruction of personal property to prove a point or the blind fanboy ultimatum claims of superiority.
I swear it's funny seeing console racers call pc racers holier than thou when it happens just as much in this thread between two console sims.
If anything we should be on the same side fighting against the tide of crappy racing games.

Have you even played GT5. Thats probably because the camera has not been focused.
I own the game. Look carefully at the picture.
Both games have issues. This isn't something to blindly defend.

If nothing else these screenshots illustrate the difference in class between the two series quite well. Gran Turismo uses a dignified, transparent watermark in the upper corner that blends in wonderfully, leaving the balance of the shot unmolested. Forza however uses a crude, incredibly wide watermark that blocks nearly the entirety of the bottom of the screenshot. On the other hand, the orange goes well with Forza 4's gaudy lighting scheme.
