Am I expecting too much of this series if I hope that there will be internal conflicts between the counsil members and some political intrige? I mean, not Homeland with superheroes (ew) but at least some level of dissent among them. Looks great btw.

I'll be disappointed and a bit shocked if at some point members don't come to a serious crisis over what to do about the "super heroes". The series could be a good place to take the time in setting up a Civil War storyline.

There's no way the government and parts of the council overseeing SHIELD will see adventurers with real power running around as anything other than a threat to order and government legitimacy.

But it seems clear that others inside SHIELD such as Coulson and director Fury admire the heroes and believe they are necessary. Schism time.

Looks meh.

Coulson makes a good sidekick to Fury.

As a leader of a team I just don't buy it. His monotone no personality delivery grates rather than amusingly quirky.

Do you have any idea how fucking awesome Gotham Central would be as a TV Drama? AWWWWW SHIT. That thing is practically scripted already for TV

Yeah, if this does well, there is literally no way DC won't make a Gotham Central TV show. And it would be fucking awesome.

the big get for this season is going to be a jeremy renner cameo

I'm thinking Chris Evans is more likely based on some comments he made in the past (I believe, about being game to make an appearance or two on the show for a not-outrageous amount/lower than his pay for movie appearances) and the possibility for a tie-in to the Captain America: Winter Soldier movie that will come out in April, while this season is still running.

Yay, glad Coulson is still alive. He's one of the best thing about all the new movies. Avengers are going to be annoyed when they realize they were manipulated though.

It wouldn't be true to comics if SHIELD didn't flip-flop back and forth between being a superhero's best friend and worst enemy.

Also makes sense due to his connections to SHIELD and the lack of CG needed to show off his powers, unlike Iron Man and Hulk.

He just needs to be in crazy good shape.

this looks embarassingly bad and i feel bad for the actor that plays coulson, they tossed him in a fucking chucky cheese colorful ball pen and some of the kids are dressed in suits holy shit this is bad

This thread is so wall to wall with crow eaters that I can't fucking handle it. It's like an alternate universe.

The trailer isn't that good. The show might be awesome, or it might suck, we don't know yet. I don't get the whole attitude of "I might be wrong about this in a year, I better not voice an opinion at all" when it comes to stuff like movies and TV. It doesn't seem like the criticism has gotten crazy out of hand or anything.

I'm confident that AoS will be better than watchable, but by "this thread" I meant the one linked that had people saying TDKR would triple Avenger's box office.

It's annoying how they don't have the guts to actually kill anybody off but the villians in the MCU. I might watch this, but I'd be lying if I'm not irritated that Coulson is in this.

Meh, it looks OK. Whose the black guy jumping out of the building?

I am hoping it's Luke Cage. Or may be just some random unknown super heroes. With Disney owning Marvel, I hope they would do cameo of various small time heroes. Cloak and Dagger would be nice to see, may be Black Cat or the Ring!

Now they have a bunch of C-list heroes and villains to kill off at Whedon's masturbatory pleasure.

The glory of the retcon. He was a life model decoy! A skrull! It was all a dream!

Marvel is going to bring all the infuriating inconsistencies greatness of comics to the small screen, finally!

I wonder how they are going to set this up? If the premise is still chasing after people with super powers, there is an amazing list of F-tier villains they can comb through in a "monster of the week" format like early Buffy and Smallville. I wonder if they can use mutants since it's a TV show?

I don't quite understand why people keep saying this. They drop hints in The Avengers that Nick Fury was lying about Coulson's death to rally the team.

How so? They establish the trading cards thing throughout, then when Fury is trying to convince the team to assemble and avenge Coulson (using the bloody trading cards), it's made clear that he didn't have them on him and Fury manufactured an emotionally manipulative stunt. That's the entire scope of their implication. Anything beyond that is a retcon. It's not a big deal that they brought him back, and doesn't hurt the show in any way. But it's still a retcon. There isn't any need to deny it.

We see Coulson die on screen, and his death isn't faked. They brought him back because they needed someone Avengersy to headline the show and they obviously weren't going to get any of the main cast who are big movie stars. If there's truly some compelling evidence I'm unaware of, then I'd be happy to recognize it. I just don't know why they didn't say "we used some Marvel Cinematic Universe™ technology/magic to resurrect him." It's cheating death either way.

But again, it doesn't hurt my opinion of the show. It'll be judged on its own merits.

They can. The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men license agreements only cover films. They can use any characters from those properties they want on television (provided it isn't feature length).

That being said, I doubt they will. This show is still taking place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and they will probably want to keep it consistent. This way it also allows them to more easily crossover between this show (and other future TV series if this does well) and the films.

Even without mutants there are many many heroes and villains they can pull from that most people probably have never heard of. Street level heroes and villains, especially ones with basic powers that won't require a lot of effects work, are probably the most likely.

I wonder, could Disney use Spider-man in this? They can't use him in the movies because of Sony, but the deal they have is only for films, not TV shows,

Nevermind. Awesome, that they can. This is going to be good.
