Major Nelson: Can play used games on different Xbox w/o fee but in your profile only

We know there is some confusion around used games on Xbox One and wanted to provide a bit of clarification on exactly what we’ve confirmed today. While there have been many potential scenarios discussed, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail.

Beyond that, we have not confirmed any specific scenarios.

Another piece of clarification around playing games at a friend’s house – should you choose to play your game at your friend’s house, there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile.

So we still know nothing.

Nice to hear a little in the way of good news.

Though this only further confirms that validation is required, which is still bad enough for me.

How generous of them. The fact is they're still changing the current policy, and absolutely nothing about it benefits the consumer.

I'm assuming they won't allow you to be signed in from multiple systems at once, so that still defeats people who want to borrow games.

Gonna take Phil Harrison's detailed explanation over some PR bullshit asking us to be patient until more is revealed.

So wait. They allow used games, but only through retail?

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
This is basically how the current system works anyway. Want to play XBLA game on a different Xbox? Must be signed onto your XBL account.

And yeah, still blocks used games

So basically if you go to your friend's home and want to use your copy of the game, just log in with your account into his console and you won't pay :p Sounds like a spin which adds further confusion.

Basically, everything Harrison said is true, but we are in recover mode and don't want to confirm such details until E3 because Sony will probably announce a similar thing.

So just like the 360 then?

What is the issue here?

but, my question is will there be issues with other accounts on my system? Do I have to pay a fee so that my son can play my game on my system but on his gamertag?

He isn't telling us the whole truth. So many conflicting reports from within MS. Someone get bill gates to confirm this shit once and for all.

Imbarkus

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
Once game ownership is tied to an account than the game disc becomes... what? A speedier disc-based download for the game you still have to actually purchase online?

Why is it the questions we would so obviously have instantly are the ones they are going to be ready to answer later?

So we can sell games. Of course we can sell games, it's a plastic disc. The question is how much will it cost to get that disc to work on another system using another account?

Major Nelson told us nothing.

nods at old men
So I still can't just lend a game without also giving my account info.

And "used games" are still up in the air until we get more info on their trade in service.
