One Piece 64

The strange weather of the Grand Line knocking Nami out of her comfort zone as Navigator was pretty fun, more than it ought to have been anyhow. Liked how Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9 gave the Strawhats some initial direction in their journey thanks to taking them to Whiskey Peak as it felt like a sensible choice. Citizens welcoming the Strawhats reminded me a lot of movie 6 too.

Fab ending has me thinking this is one of the best eps I'd seen yet.

Whiskey Peak is great. It's the start of the scale of the series increasing exponentially.

You can say that to every title then.

And oh Rahxephon is more Megazone 23 than to Eva.

I don't know what Megazone 23 is, but Rah Xephon doesn't even attempt to conceal the fact that it's Eva. There's an episode of Rah Xephon where the "dolem" does the exact same thing as the sphere angel from Evangelion, sucking the protagonist's giant robot into the ground. If that isn't enough to convict, the protagonists of both shows then are stuck in an introspective limbo world where they have IDENTICAL, VERBATIM dialogue. Then both the dolem and the angel die in exactly the same fashion.

It can't possibly BE more Evangelion. Rah Xephon is more Evangelion than Rebuild of Evangelion at this point.

Gun x Sword 19

Kurosa dies. Which is good, because fuck the violent little boy cliche mecha shows love to employ. It even happens here, they try to make us feel sorry for the little shit. Well I don't. He was a shit and he deserved to die.

Meanwhile, the Eldora 5 prove that in spite of being GaoGaiGar, they're still every bit as awesome in their own South of the Border Flavor.

You're beginning to sell me on the show, haha. I'll just consider it a love letter to Anno.

Tokyo Jupiter is clearly inspired from Megazone

Mana = EVE
Ayato = Shogo (Megazone protag)

And as if Eva not have amount of inspired idea as well

The Devil is a Part Timer! 1-8

Yep, this is good. It took a couple of episodes, but it's getting into its stride. I'll note that this isn't what I'd call a straight comedy, but there's a surprising amount of character development and the occasional hint of battle. Hey, I just sat through the smart end of four hours of this, complete with irrelevant Hulu adverts (including a hilarious one for a medicine that spent literally two third of the advert listing off the side effects), it's that good.

Also, Chi is best girl.

Nura Episode 10-22

Almost finished with it.

Loved the Tsurara focused Episode. Can't wait to get into 2nd season.

Oreimo 8

This episode was too CUTE!

I was in love with it up until the very end. Then that had to happen and depress me. :( Oh well waiting for the final LN in June anyways so the show should go out with a bang.

I was going to ask "which territory", but then I realise you listed Hulu, so I guess you're from the US.

For everyone else, I'll recommend Media Hint for Hulu access, it works really well (although I'd also recommend getting an account so you can filter out the really irrelevant advert. No, I'm not interested in your birth control pills). Note that it does work for Netflix US, but it doesn't work for Crunchyroll (but then again most of the US exclusive anime's available on Hulu anyway).

Between the two, the only two notable recent anime that isn't available is new JoJos and Hyora (spelling error).

I know exactly what you're talking about. The best bit is that the last bit of that fucking ad is the tagline of how good the medicine is for you, right after like nearly a minute of the girl just listing off possible horrific side effects (including 'a visual disability called something or the other')

Yutaka Izubuchi himself said he wanted to make his own Evangelion

Obviously its influences are a lot more far reaching, but it was made in response to it, there is no denying that.

Hey this show's pretty good.

I'm not sure they understand Irish naming conventions though. "Mg" is not a prefix in any naming culture I'm familiar with now that I think about it.

Enjoyed seeing Satan and.Alciel have to get on their feet and familiarize themselves with this new world they're in. Was funny seeing Alciel thinking he used summoning magic when all he did was call a cab. And them renting their apartment was entertaining. That landlady is pretty freaky looking.

And Satan's really into his MgRonald's job. He's so dedicated and friendly and helpful. All the while Alciel's wondering what he's become.

Will watch more.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor 1

Off to a pretty good start. The animation is lively and cartoony, and the whole episode had a great deal of energy which made it fly by. The cuts between Tylor, the Space Force leaders, and the Empire leaders in the first half were a bit disorienting - could have used a bit more setting establishment - but that straightened out in the second half with its amazing sequence of Tylor seducing the aptitude test AI. Tylor is such a crazy ne'er-do-well, it's hard not to like him. He seems to let his mouth run ahead of him, yet somehow he's managed to get his way. The only thing I don't like about him is his poofy jacket, but he should be turning that in soon enough.

The hints of political intrigue between and inside the two warring powers were certainly... intriguing. I wonder how the series will balance its serious and comedic sides going forward.

The OP is kind of weird, by the way. What's with the live-action footage?

I'll give it a shot eventually. Maybe going into it knowing these things will help me to appreciate it for what it is.
It was made and marketed as one of the first major high concept sci-fi anime of the new decade made by someone who is essentially a legend in the field of mecha anime directing a show for the first time ever.

nevermind the fact that it was made by a brand new studio made up of of many, many people responsible for some of the most iconic anime of the 90s.

WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT.

Let me get this straight:
Eclair just brutally murdered the entire GOTT staff, or at the very least the chief, and got named THE NEW CHIEF?

That is some Sith levels of employee advancement opportunities.

I suppose this is MURICA we're talking about, but if a company in the UK came up with that advert, all the advertisers would laugh them out of the room. You don't spend half an advert listing off the side effects, that's what text on the screen is for. (Hell, I don't think we allow prescription drugs to advertise over here, which I guess makes sense given the continued existence of the NHS). But anyway, off topic.

I do have a feeling TDiaPT is going to get nowhere near finished in the last five episodes: they're still introducing new characters and the latest episode ended on a cliffhanger (perhaps the lamest cliffhanger ever, but it's a cliffhanger). I also realise that Chi is basically otakubait (genki highschooler with big tits falls in love with the male protagonist, gets the entire ending sequence to herself), but hey, it works, it's not terribly out of place (hey, there's demons leaping about, and so far they've only made one joke out of the :chet) and she's far from the worst otakubait I've seen.

Smile Precure 01-03

This is my first foray into the Precure franchise, and I think my experience was bolstered by watching my little sister really love watching it too. Is this a good entry into the franchise? I'm enjoying it so far, and it all seems pretty standalone so far. Was just making sure I wasn't missing anything from the previous series.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha 01

Watching the English dub, was pleasantly surprised to hear Mio from K-On! (same with my little sister who loves K-On!) Noticeably more serious tone than Precure, but we're loving it all the same.

It's really interesting watching these shows after having seen Madoka first.

Also, I watched all of SAO
and I kinda enjoyed it until I read GAF's consensus of disapproval thus changing my own opinion lol
would you guys recommend watching through .hack//SIGN?

Do you guys subscribe to Crunchyroll? And do you think it's worth it? I'm using the free trial to watch Attack on Titan and I'm liking the whole stream 1080p as soon as it comes out thing.

Although, I don't watch a crazy amount of anime. The most recent one I've watched was Evangelion and that was like, 4 months ago. After watching Attack on Titan I started getting interested in anime again though, so I've started Stein's Gate after hearing good things about it.

I've been on the CR free trial (about to become a paid member) It's not extravagantly expensive, and considering the breadth of their catalog I'm not really complaining.

Steib's Gate is one of the best anime in recent years.

Another reason why kiddy grade is great .Make perfect sense that being on the run they picked that one. The other would have been to keep running until their deaths.

Decided to go and watch this after jgminto's suggestion. It was an okay first episode, it didn't hook me like I thought it would. I don't really like the main character all that much and the high school setting is whatever.
I wasn't expecting Shoko to just die in the first episode like that (or did she...) and after the credits Haruto becoming a vampire or something and biting L-elf was when I said "okay what's going on here" but I just relized that that was what the message on screen that Haruto was blindly ignoring was talking about.
I'm not sure if I should continue watching the rest of the episodes.

There's a fucktonne of shows on Crunchy and I can stream on my tablet on the couch or when I'm inexplicably awake at 3 in the morning. It's good stuff.

I'm tempted to drop the full amount on a year's worth instead of paying p/month

Spice and Wolf II 06

I always like seeing the other side of the story. And more nice moments between Holo and Lawrence. Really fitting to see the end of the festival happen at the same time.

Don't understand why the kid's dad beat him for wanting to be an aerospace engineer. I'm guessing the dad is just fucking stupid, no matter what type of engineer you become that's like guaranteed money right there. Let the kid make rockets goddamn it. As for Vince, just "becoming an astronaut" is kind of vague since most are either doctors, engineers or something like that. So either way both of them would have had some well paying careers.
