Sorry if I remain skeptical..but first reviews that cry citizen kane accolades sounds a bit fanboy-ish.

Will wait for further..and hopefully more honest..reviews.

There's no way The Last of Us will be as bad as Infinite.

Empire is pretty well known as far as I know, have seen their magazines in Barnes and Noble and while overseas.

Edit: That was poorly worded, but I imagine one can surmise the point. Even if the latter bit makes it seem anecdotal :D They're a house name(for better or worse).

My point was that it was not an accident. It does not make the review itself unworthy of our attention. It just means that Empire did this on purpose. I do not buy the whole, the stupid online guy put the story up early defense.

Oh I don't disagree at all, just took issue with the implication that Empire was some small site of little renown. Not to mention your specifically said internet, which doesn't take into account they're primarily a print based organization. Could have misread your statement, it is late.

Ive always found the uncharted games horribly overated...thats just me though

hmm if it really IS that good (like Bioshock infinate levels good which I think is one of the best games ever) I might pick it up...no reason not too

I'm just a little bit put off since Id have to get it for PS3

I also think the Uncharted games are overrated. They are supremely linear, have little gameplay, and their stories are typical Hollywood summer blockbuster fare.

I do think that the technical aspects of the games are amazing, though. Sound, animation, graphics, design, and so forth are incredible. I also rather enjoyed what I've played of Uncharted 2, but I was somewhat disappointed with Uncharted 3 (Having played through it.). But it's not like any of the games are "bad", they are just very overrated. Uncharted 3 is a 7/10 title, for example. But I usually skip past anything story related in games, and mostly care about gameplay.

Oh man metroidvania in my last of us. Citizen Kane am cry.

Huh?

I dont think that i have ever wanted a game more. The Last of Us is like a perfect game after my taste, from my favorite developer. I really cant believe that they can keep on deliver games of so high class so often. Okey don't take part of the hype train.
Screw it, Naughty Gods hype train here i come!

Damn. This means that ND ps4 game is being developed by uc3 team. Vader nooooooo.
They're a very capable team. They've got Amy Hennig too. UC3 was plagued by alot of things, and Sony didn't really give them enough time. You can definitely tell during the last few chapters of the game.

Every new review comes with its new hyperbolic bullshit. They seem to do worse and worse every review. And yet, not a game released for 5 years will be remembered for its ideas and quality.

Oh yeah, that reminded me. I actually did care about the story in Uncharted 3, but it went nowhere. It set up this very interesting relationship between Nathan and Sully, but failed to take it anywhere. Along with that setup, it implied that Nathan struggled with his criminal background and behaviour, and I thought the game was going to explore this - but it didn't, really, at all. It just set it up and left it.

The ending just made it much more annoying.

First reviews are the least reliable, and where have I heard "Citizen Kane of gaming" before.
Because I now associate with overhyped reviews.

Last real survival experience of the gen? Resi Revelations and this bring up really good memories. Wonder if we'll find anything similar till Evil Within.

At least get your inputs right.

I think that's fine, when I'm talking to a (specific) friend, we're always referring to the B-button on a Nintendo controller, the A-button on a 360 controller and the X-button on a Dual Shock as "A" (and to the Y-button of a Nintendo-controller, the X-button of a 360 controller and the square button of a Dual Shock as B ;)). I instantly knew which button I'm supposed to press here :).

Srsly? A generic shooter with a half good story is the best video game ever made? Give me a break.

The best way to debate is by not elaborating or articulating a position. Also, a whopping amount of zero people said anything along the lines of "the best video game ever made" pertaining to Infinite.

There was part of the game, around an hour towards the end, where you would 'backtrack'. This hour is part of a 9-12 hour game. Every videogame is built around pressing a button to proceed.

As for why you didn't enjoy it, I'm not you, I love Max Payne 3 and Resident Evil 6, some people scoff at those games.

I will never understand how Uncharted 3 could be called a horrible game. Not what it could have/should have been okay but horrible? Lol no.

For the record I loved the game a lot. I thought it was fantastic.

Yeah, but 5/5 was a given - you can see the immaculate quality of TLoU a mile away. The real news here is that they gave Remember Me 4/5! That's the third positive review out of just as many, which indicates to me that the game will at the very least be worth playing and won't be complete utter shit. Yay!

Empire's a great magazine by the way, but no one ever bought it for video game reviews.

If Uncharted 3 is the worst game Naughty Dog has made this generation, then goddamn.

I liked UC3 a lot. Not as much as UC2 of course. I liked Bioshock Infinite as well. why are we talking about these games?!

The internet has this thing where if a game doesn't meet your
vastly overinflated
expectations it's horrible, the worst game ever, etc. It's okay, you quickly learn to make the mental substitution from what they say to what they mean.

Or I literally found Uncharted 3 so terribly bad and devoid of fun and entertainment that I dropped it after 4 hours because it was a torturous experience.

And I say this as someone who legitimately found Uncharted 2 great.

Uncharted 3 takes all the problems of the previous Uncharted games and amplifies them to eleven, sucking up any enjoyment that could possibly be found.

After the initial euphoria of any highly anticipated game.

Uncharted 2 becomes overrated.
Bioshock Infinite becomes horrible.
Uncharted 3 becomes terrible.
And so on.....

Yep this is GAF alright. :D

What problems do you think those were, exactly?

What made infinite stand out for me was..similar to bioshock, and rapture..was that Levine managed to create this world..this atmosphere that completely sucked me in. In Columbia..it's world..it's lore..it's characters...it all felt organic. The detail, the love, every corner seemingly felt as if mass amount of attention and love was poured into it....a artform that I fear is seemingly disappearing with the wake of giant game publisher corporations like EA and Activision whose only goal is to make a quick and easy buck.

Also, maybe it's just me, but Infinite felt like a big budget game was the soul of an indie title. Sure, it's gameplay was pretty safe and standard..but it's narrative, it's world, just the concept of a floating city in the sky, and all of it's bizarre premises, reminded me of why I loved video games in the first place.

Maybe in the end of it all, it's not so much of what Infinite achieved..but rather returned back to. To me, and maybe it's just me, but this gen has been poor in terms of imagination and creativity..and not simply from a gameplay sense, but rather a narrative sense, and just general "world, and atmosphere" sense. It all feels samey and just incredibly safe, as if publishers fear that something to complex would cause consumers to sways away towards that product

Personally, I feel that video games can be some of the most creative and imaginative mediums if given the creative freedom to be..and that's something that's clearly visible in the indie scene.

To me, Infinite's narrative, infinite's world, it's atmosphere, and just general premise (backbone I guess you could say) just really "sucked" me in, and reminded me of at time (in later previous generations), where developers, big budget developers (on the ps2, xbox1, ps1, n64, etc..) created these BIG BUDGET games, with so much creativity and imagination, and just general love.

Infinite is not perfect. I agree with that, and I'm not saying it is. But to me, it dared to be something more, much more, than your typical AAA big budget release...it dared to have imagination and creativity..it dared to take narrative to new places (whether they took you there is personal opinion I believe), and had a sense of craftsmanship and love ooze from every polygon...something that has been sorely lacking this generation.

Uncharted 3 horribile game? Are you kidding me? Maybe it isn't a masterpiece but not even a horribile game. Imho it is very good.

I loved Infinite for how the story came together and the existence of the Bioshock universe was much deeper than what it originally could be perceived as. The gunplay and combat were vastly improved over Bioshock 1 and 2's combat. Using the sky lines makes me feel adventurous and gives my brain a good fantasy massage. The skyline along with the improved gunplay made combat fun instead of simply serviceable.

Gameplay fluff such as hacking minigames and "should I turn this girl into a drug slug" being removed completely. The environment and events in the game allow you to interpret lifestyles and American idealism/realities, Ken and the writers were not shy when it comes to showing how a haven for 1912 Americans would look like.

Citizen Kane or Oscar worthy whatever...

That they call it the best Naughty Dog game ever created however stands out. Can't wait.
