Though I don't particularly care for the stuff they're gonna show, these things are always great GIF material and awkwardly entertaining.

I do wonder what games they've got up their sleeve if they're so confident.

They haven't demonstrated the use for the new Kinect in games yet. Expect a live on-stage Kinect demo again.

Japan hasn't yet rejected Xbox One, nor are Japanese third parties rejecting Microsoft's money.

Osaka is a gamechanger IMO.

Japan has rejected the entire Xbox brand. Xbox one looks its going to do even worse than the 360 as it is not going to be getting as many exclusives and if the policies are anti-used.

The reason 360 managed to get some sales is due to the exclusives it had at the beginning and pretty much every single one of them flopped:

Tales of Vesperia
Star Ocean The Last Hope
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Eternal Sonata
Infinite Undiscovery
Enchanted Arms
Ridge Racer 6
Ace Combat 6
The Last Remnant
Dead or Alive 4
Lost Planet
Dead Rising

You must be crazy if you think the Xbox one is going to get a similar amount of timed exclusives or exclusives.

There are quite a lot more but even after MS went after third parties this hard the console still bombed. I doubt a couple of titles from Osaka (unproven studio) are going to do anything let alone be a game changer.
I don't think you people understand how bad the 360 did in Japan. You know the Vita, the console thats failing, struggling to keep up with the dreamcast iirc, its about to outsell 7 years of 360 sales in 1.5 years.

Japan has Rejected Xbox as a whole.

I guess we'll see.

They increased their market share, even if only marginally. That Japan is handheld land is well known.

Regardless Xbox One is going to get a lot of exclusive Japanese content, whether it makes an impact there or not remains to be seen.

360 sold like 3x more than xbox, 1.5m vs 500k. doesn't really fit your narrative.

xbone wont win japan, hell xperia z is the best selling phone in japan and i guarantee it's not even close to 1st anywhere else in the world due to it's highly washed out low quality screen lol.

i think they'd be happy with a doubling, 3m xbone sold in japan. i would anyway.

the thing is japan seems to keep getting more irrelevant as a console market every gen. it's already to the point of not mattering much anymore. 360 has sold more than ps3 worldwide despite japan, which i never thought was possible in 2005. what happened that i didn't count on was just japan's non handheld market continuing to shrink.

Honestly, why should MS even pay attention to the Japanese console market? On a weekly basis, right now there are about 20k consoles moved total in Japan according to Media Create. Losing Japan's console war has hardly the impact that it used to as they move to mainly handhelds. Yeah, in a perfect world Microsoft would be competitive in Japan but its hardly the end of the world. If they somehow turn around their reputation in Japan, great but I wouldn't hold my breath.

In their position, I wouldn't waste money on those moneyhats. Japanese developers will continue to develop for the Xbox to have access to the Western market.

If I was MS, I'd be looking at why consoles aren't popular in Japan anymore, and be trying to reinvigorate the market, rather than just looking to Nintendo and Sony. They should follow their own path there and stop trying to be the 'me too' console that they've been marketing Xbox as for the last decade in Japan.

Narrative? That fits my narrative fine. LTD's of 500 and 1.5 million are beyond pathetic in Japan especially the latter as its been out for 7 years. 360 had a bit of a boost due to the initial exclusives which I listed before.

Don't know what this has to do with the Xperia Z lol. 3 million Xbone in Japan is a pipe dream.

20 million home consoles were sold this gen in Japan. Thats hardly irrelevant. The fact that without Japan ps3 would have not outsold the 360 actually shows its relevance. Furthermore, you act like Japan does not have room for growth in the console sector.

In my 5 years of living here I've met like one Japanese person that had an Xbox 360 lol.

It's pretty doomed here if kinnect is required. If minimum distance is anywhere close to what it was for Kinnect one it's just useless in most households. If they offer a Kinnect-free version for the Japanese market it may sell a few.

11 days left.

How would you feel about Blacklist being next-gen exclusive? (Not a rumor or anything, just throwing it out there)

It'd be unfortunate that its on the 360 and not the One :/

I have to agree, my body is ready for a next gen Forza and PGR.

However I guess I will take PGR in any form it is available. Either way I am hyped to see what they show.

That's what I'm thinking they'll do. The big established franchises won't do anything for MS in that region as they have years of being associated with Nintendo and Sony.

They just need to create new IP, maybe create some awesome RPGs cause hell Square and Sony don't any more. All it takes is one game to gain marketshare in any region, that one game that captures lightning in a bottle etc.

I think they should change thier marketing in the region as well, raw aggression doesn't work over there. Respect and humility would go a long way for MS, not to mention the Japanese are proud, MS should use this.

Do you have a source for that? MS usually goes for 90 minutes, but just didn't know it was confirmed.

It's from an interview with Phil Spencer on 4Players.de after the reveal. Here's where he says it's 90 minutes:

wo wir 90 Minuten auf unserer Bühne zur Verfügung haben

I hope the MS conference focuses solely on games. I found the reveal event was very boring and a big downer as other than Forza 5 and Quantum Break it didn't really have anything I'm interested in or will likely be available in the UK at launch. I don't think I'd want to watch more dashboard demos (in fact I wish MS would go back to CES and show off all that stuff at CES each year).

I wouldn't say it's unfortunate if they end up announcing PGR5 for the 360.

I think at this point I'd still much rather prefer a next gen game that makes use of the extra power of the Xbox One. It won't be the worst thing but I would rather not have a 360 version unless it's a cross generation game (versions for both consoles).

I'd say the TV bit would be new thread worthy but I forsee the usual suspects rushing to suggest the games will all be Kinect, sports or both.

Exciting stuff nonetheless. Microsoft are going to bring it and the crusading against them seems to have only made them more determined to do so.

Hold on to your butts.

not even worth the time to see a unfunny one liner derail a informative thread

I'll post a thread if everyone thinks it's worth it.

I do agree that any thread would see a spamming of 'dat first post' as the Major Nelson thread from last night shows...
