Marvel Cinematic Universe |OT| Discussion on released and future projects (spoilers)

That Rocket Raccoon better watch his back, lest he become a boiled rabbit.

Seeing this comment in the link reminded me of that funny scene in the live action 101 Dalmations where Cruella's yelling at the raccoon to give back her hat and I laughed.

They should start filming like any moment now. It's scheduled to come out in a year. They must have been deep in the pre-production for some time because it seems like the turnaround for such an effects-heavy movie would be pretty significant.

Cool. From what I can tell he looks like the concept art, which is a good thing since all the art they've released for Phase 2 looks great IMO.

My mate worked on Guardians, and told me some stuff about it. He's willing to say all he knows, but obviously things can change since he worked on concept for the film.

Charles Widmore and Amy Pond announcements in the same day?!

Not convinced Gillan's got what it takes to be lead villain (or any villain for that matter) but shall be interesting to see.

watched captain america for the first time yesterday, first half of it was pretty good, but as soon as the action started the film took a noise dive in quality. didn't lie the over use of cgi.

it was like the opposite of Thor, which started poorly but was pretty decent by the end.

Realistically, speaking, if GoTG is hugely successful, i.e 700+ worldwide or more...does that literally open the flood gates for Marvel's more obscure heroes?

Sort of. If it is successful they will obviously start doing more "Cosmic" films to bolster that new franchise. They will also probably try to start another non-Avengers (and non-Cosmic) related franchise in Phase 3.

I still think the thing that opens the floodgates the most for most of the obscure guys is going to be Television. Especially when it comes to street level characters who don't need tons of SFX to display their abilities.

I think we will probably start seeing 3 Marvel movies a year in Phase 3 considering it seems likely we'll be getting (at least):

Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Thor 3, Captain America 3, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Avengers 3

And maybe:

Nova/Annihilation, Iron Man 4, Hulk film, New non-Avengers/Cosmic franchise

Ant-Man is going to be 2015 but all the rest are expected to be 2016, 2017, or 2018. With Avengers 3 definitely slated for 2018. That doesn't give them a lot of time and they have a lot of films they want to do. 3 a year starting in 2016 makes a lot of sense if you look how much they have in the cooker.

If I had to make schedule guesses I would speculate it may be something like:

2015
Ant-Man (Fall/Thanksgiving)

2016
Doctor Strange (Early Summer)
Thor 3 (Late Summer)
Black Panther (Fall/Thanksgiving)

2017
Nova/Annihilation (Early Summer)
New Franchise (Late Summer)
Captain America 3 (Fall/Thanksgiving)

2018
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (Early Summer)
The Avengers 3 (Late Summer)

Who is voicing Rocket Raccoon?

Who is the villain?

Who is Karen Gillian playing?

There are the most pressing questions in that order and the answers should be locked in by now. If you can deliver answers that turn out to be correct you will be a legend.

Nah the better question would be is Richard rider in the movie and is lee pace playing him.

I'm already tired of that line/scene thanks to gaf.

Every time BP is mentioned its posted.

That's because it's an excellent way to define and differentiate the character from the other Avengers. BP is the Batman of the team, and that line singlehandedly sells that idea. For a mass moviegoing audience that has never heard of that scene or that comic or possibly even the Black Panther himself, it's the perfect way to make sure the character is remembered and cheered for. It's a great line any way you slice it.

That would be accurate if you just started reading Black Panther like six minutes ago when Hudlin started writing him.

Actually while people attribute Batman with "prep time", BP did it first way back in the Lee/Kirby days of the F4 when Batman was in his campy phase.

I wish people would stop saying this because it's wrong.

The Avengers has a Batman analogue and his name is Iron Man.

heh. BP is far closer to being a batman analogue than Tony is- though it's probably correct to say that the "modern" interpretation of Batman is recent- BP has always been that way, while batman of the 1960s-1980s was a much different character.

Bruce wayne's millionaire playboy persona is an act, the "real" Bruce is Batman. For Tony Stark it's typically been the other way around.

Currently Tony has a very public persona, no secret identity, ran SHIELD as director, etc. Batman's identity is secret and his operations are covert, etc etc.

But yeah. If you're looking at a martial artist, prep time, operates in stealth, plans for everything etc. type character that's BP.

Absolutely.

These 2 aren't really questions he'd be able to answer, but I can tell you that a certain villain will be making a appearance at the end which prompts a certain 2008 hero to show up. My friend is in concept so it could all change, but that was the plan.

Anyway I'm saying too much already. :p

So annihilus shows up which prompts Richard rider to show up as the tease for the next film? Ok.

Give us something concrete so that we can hold you accountable like Chitownbuffalo.
