Less of a niche title? Absolutely. I don't think it's going to be some massive system seller, but it's 3D platformers are absolutely less niche than a fighter. Plus, to me, it makes the most sense. They're going to have oodles of shooters, so Perfect Dark is out. KI, I feel like is coming, but I think they'll want to saturate the market a bit with Xbones before it hits. That leaves Banjo, or Conker.. And I just really don't see them launching with Conker.

I think Nintendo platformers are more popular today, but I think in general the fighting game genre has more fans and people interested than the (non-Nintendo) platformer genre, not to mention it's a big in for the pro-gaming scene that Microsoft seems to be interested in catering to.

What if it's an action game that uses the Killer Instinct IP? Like Killer Instinct's version of Shaolin Monks.

........Yeah, even that sounds kind of crazy.

And that's the point.

Yeah. I don't know.

Rare is making a sequel to Wizards and Warriors !
Rare is making a game with medieval / fantasy setting !

Rare is making a sequel to Gunfright !
Rare is making a game set in the wild west !

Do these sound the same to 30 y/o gamers ? They probably shouldn't, but they inevitably do.

They do have all those ex-Codemaster guys on staff... also that water racer rumor.

Spiritual successor to Diddy Kong Racing?

Ha, that's exactly what I was thinking but hadn't seen any rumors about it. Personally, I would love a kart racing game from them alongside a Banjo or Conker revival.

Idk if Anyone thought it did but

Expected, but good to know.

I wonder if they have any exclusives for the 360 left or planned? Microsoft left the Xbox quick last-gen, but that was due to them losing so much money and not having enough market-share; this time, it seems they want to keep the 360 name around a lot longer, but I'm not sure if they need to keep making exclusives for it or just make sure the usual stuff comes out on it.

They must have something planned if they intend to keep the platform exciting for years to come. Unless they mean Live Arcade releases...

Maybe a 360 mini with no disc drive, but it's compatible with the One.

Could act as a BC device and extra HDD if nothing else.

I thought that got debunked for the stingray rumor?

I remember the Stingray was just supposed to be a small, media-focused 360 box. I'm not sure if that was the alleged product that had BC/One-inegration though; not sure if it was supposed to have a disc drive either.

But Mattrick said BC is backwards.

If you have to charge people X$ more to produce the parts for it to be within the console itself, then it seems like something that companies would rather cut. Both MSony saw that and cut it. If they're going to release a new 360 mini, that could work on its own or be hooked up to the One (so that it can use the One's UI, Kinect and app-switching stuff), then it's a different ballgame.

I thought about not making anymore hype gifs after the reveal flop. But hey, one is allowed, right? :)

I think it was debunked in the sense that it wouldn't be shown at the reveal. They do have some big reveal for the 360 coming at E3 though. Either way, it doesn't make sense to reveal a 360 revision until you're closer to actually releasing it because current sales will slow down in the interim.

Don't know if it has already been posted here. But a mistake by the marketing department in The Netherlands.
It says Vandaag beschikbaar, Gebouwd voor de toekoms, which means Available Today, Built for the future.
It has also been sent around to people that are subscribed to their e-mails

Well the slim was kept a secret until a few hours before when that ad leaked. They can announce it and launch end of June easily.

It must be a slight translation error. The text that's displayed in the English version of this on the dash is "Here Today". A bit confusing text for sure since it's not actually "here" right now (as in, you can't go to the store to buy one), but don't read too much into it.

Well they do have State of Decay coming out this week hopefully which is a HUGE XBLA exclusive tbh. There's also supposedly Lococycle coming at the end of the year too. It is possible that they will have another big AAA release for the 360, but it's unlikely it will be 360 exclusive if that's the case. MS has been a bit more aggressive moving its studios onto next-gen, whereas Sony seems to be giving the PS3 a fantastic swan song with new IP's in its final few months. It's going to be interesting to see how this all unfolds at E3. If Sony can release some of those as cross-gen games, that will be pretty huge, as I really want to play some of those games, but I don't own a PS3. If not, then hopefully Sony hasn't spent too much of its time focusing on the PS3 when it has a PS4 to sell, which is obviously way more important to sell as it's the future of Playstation. I guess we shouldn't count MS out on its first-party support for the 360, but I'll have to see it to believe it.

So, I'm going to go ahead and guess Microsoft's E3 conference showing:

Confirmed
Forza Motorsport 5
Quantum Break
Ryse
Rare's "historic" IP

Probable
Call of Duty: Ghosts (it's Xbox press conference tradition)
Fable IV (hinted by job listings, Fable forum just re-opened today)
Titan (Respawn's new game, rumored to be Xbox One-exclusive by Kotaku)
The Witcher 3 (with CDPR refusing to acknowledge the Xbox One ver just yet, I take it a stage demo announce is being planned or something)

Maybe
Black Tusk's New IP (Mattrick said he wasn't sure if they were showing it at E3)
New Crackdown (icon appeared on Xbox One home screen during demonstration)
Fallout 4 (Bethesda recently started selling all this Fallout 3-related merchandise on its store and reuploaded a Fallout 3 trailer to its YouTube, will probably timed exclusive DLC)
New Halo (probably the Spartan Assault game that was recently registered as a domain, as it's too soon to jump from Halo 4 to 5)

Rumored by FamousMortimer (1, 2)
Dead Rising 3 (exclusive)
Hawken (console exclusive)
New Insomniac Game (exclusive)
League of Legends (console exclusive)

Rumored by The Verge to launch with Xbox One (1)
Family Game
Zombie Game

I am getting so goofy excited for E3 this year (for all 3 platform holders!!!) Also the Mattrick line "people are under-indexing how hard we're punching" is really staring to grow on me. I am going to start using it at work when appropriate!!

Yeah I see your point, it's just a poor choice of translation.

I know MSony are going to be killer, but iI Nintendo brings it at the Direct (and I think they will) then this could be the best E3 of all time. Not to get all hyperbolic up in here, but that's how everything is shaping up to be. Two new consoles coming out in the same year, and an established Wii U with a new Smash, Pikmin, Bayonetta, Mario, and Retro game on the horizon.

Respawn's Xbox exclusive "Titan", rumored by crazybuttocks and a few other sources, may be there.

There are a few other Microsoft first party studios you left out too, worthy of inclusion in the maybes at least.

Had Titan in my mind, too, when I was writing it up. xD

Added it.

As far as the other studios go, any you suggest I include?

The Witcher 3 was confirmed for PS4.

Pretty sure CDPR have already said they won't be showing TW3 to the public at E3. It's behind closed doors unfortunately.

I guess their refusal to acknowledge any One version could be Sony paying CDPR to only show/push the PS4 version over the One version...if there is one.

Actually it's a pretty thorough list, worthy of being put in the OP IMO.

Rare are working on at least two IPs, rumored three. MS Studios in Victoria and Osaka are both working on games, the latter possibly two. Then there's Twisted Pixel. That said though, it might be a stretch to think any of these games will make an appearance at E3, more likely being saved for Gamescom and TGS.

The Witcher 3 was confirmed for PS4.

He isn't listing exclusives, only games that will appear at the MS E3 presser.

And? I don't think he is trying to claim it will be exclusive, just that it might have a demo on stage since it hasn't yet been announced for Xbox One...much like Watchdogs did at the PS4 presser.

Ok, I misunderstand him, I was thinking he mean TW3 as an exclusive One game.

They have a CGI trailer ready and the game was already listed on amazon.de for the XOne.

so much salt in the preorder thread sheesh

I don't even enter those threads, thankfully the reveal and this thread seem to be 'safe havens' from the trolls and fanboys, for the most part.

MS are getting a lot of flack at the moment, some deserved some not. Hopefully after they clarify things and show lots of games people calm down. And the ones that still hate it just shut up and concentrate on what PS4 games they're gonna buy ...

yeah, I don't even know why I'm trying in that preorder thread. I have two tabs open. 1 always open to this thread and the other for all gaf. I just need to close that other one until next monday. And then let the festivities begin. (be it bad or good)

I for the most part don't either i'm not even going to risk being banned for stating my opinion on anything. ill just relax in xbox only threads when discussing the system.

Am I the only one excited about the next gen SmartGlass??

From vgleaks:

Touch input can be a trigger. Tablets can be private strategy screens. Smartphones can serve as radar displays. Motion sensors plus the Kinect Sensor can make Xbox Companion a portal to exploring the game world. There is no limit on the imaginative possibilities with this input medium and its screen real estate.

Xbox Companion for Durango also allows gamers to stay engaged when they are away from their consoles. By using the next Xbox Companion, they can interact with their Durango consoles from any location with Internet access.

Ok so, there were a lot of awesome original Xbox games that we'll never see a sequel to because MS get drunk on our salty tears (and they all bomba'd anyway), but just say MS started a program of remastering them. Which would you like to see on Xbox One?

From vgleaks:

Well, we don't know exactly how it will work... the first Smarglass is veeeery slow, so the second one still have many things to prove if developers want to use it in games.
I'm still not convinced by the gaming applications, by the way. But it may be cool for generic apps, like switching your browser/skype call/video stream from your console to your phone or tablet back and forth.
