Game is hardly a shooter, thats the thing.

You cant go on with guns blazing, you will die instantly.

Its a survival 3rd third person game, you should play the demo

yeah... like those european games where shots matter. Still, i'm reading examples about how you have to fight off waves of enemies and stuff and other modern day game designs which are turning on alerts for me, because I've never enjoyed those in Nd games.

Is the demo available for people without god of war 4 yet?

@AnnoyedGamer that opening! The most moving game sequence I've ever experienced #TheLastofUs

Gratz to Naughty Dog on the reviews. Had no serious interest in this game until I just saw all of those perfect scores. That's nuts.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
In case anyone missed this:

Just an absolute joke of a website.

They really should be banned and not mentioned anywhere on GAF anymore. We had Kotaku banned for a while too for good reasons.

Can someone explain how MS has a relationship to polygon?

It's not really about a 'relationship'. MS put up a bunch of money ($750k?) as part of funding for a documentary about the creation of Polygon. I just thought it was stupid to have a documentary about yourself going before the site was up *shrugs*

It just looks really bad for a gaming and review site to take money from a console maker.

Lol, this has to be the most ridiculous thing that has happened in videogame journalism ever. I doubt this game is better than Bioshock Infinite.

The wrap up of polygon's review says it has too many conventional design choices and gives the game a 7.5 and yet bioshock infinite which hasn't improved that much on the previous entries gets a 10. Don't get me wrong, bioshock is a great game but it didn't bring some significant innovations in the design.

something, something opinions?

Well yeah. Then you've got people clowning at a 7.5 and feeling justified somehow.

I can't help but roll my eyes when another shooter is declared pinnacle of the medium. Uncharted 2 which got the same kind of treatment was basic as hell when you got down to it, it was just extremely well packaged. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the genre but I'm not liking how a lot of the innovations are merely aesthetic.

Please remove the Polygon review from the OP. You are already not linking to it, so do the right thing and remove it completely. Any establishment with such a clear agenda doesn't deserve to have their opinion acknowledged. Naughty Dog deserve to sit at the top of metacritic for making the game of the generation. It saddens me to my core that unprofessional click bait could destroy everything they have worked so hard to achieve and ruin what should be a day of celebration.

Seven-hundred and fifty-thousand, yes.

IGN.com brought me to IGN.nl so I couldn't copy the link of the original review, had to use a proxy to reach the US site, but yes I was more concered updating the 10/10 links because the reviews are ordered from highest to lowest, and Polygon is at the bottom.

A likely story... I couldn't help but notice a suspicious lack of Doritos in a stool sample of yours I had recently acquired...

To be fair here, this game is far removed from Uncharted. From the demo it was much more stealth based.

Oh my god I can't believe they used that Citizen Kane quote. Pathetic Hollywood envy but a humerous shadow for David Cage to live in for the next few months.

Really interested to see why GameSpot and Polygon didn't like it as much, are they safe reads? There's something almost too good to be true about these scores but avoiding spoilers and .gifs being posted in every unrelated thread is going to be difficult just like wth Journey.

The funny thing about Polygon was that Gies was feeding a bunch of negative hyperbole to someone I know before the review embargo dropped. I had a feeling their score would be lower after that.

Hahaha oh wow. Never taking their reviews seriously.

Intro is better than Infinite?

Well it must be really something

holy shit

You disliked both of them? Wow, interesting.

Surely you can at least admit that they were solid, well made games.

In general, I would agree that most super praised games are generally at least good, but I haven't really enjoyed the writing of any of the 93+ Metacritic games this gen that are praised frequently by critics. Still really like RDR, Bioshock Infinite, MGS4, and others despite that, but it feels like critics can go way overboard on praising some stories this gen.

Some reviews are mentioning they didnt notice waves as well and well tbh if their are reviews which has given 10, their much be a reason why they gavee have a 10. Many people have praised the gameplay and the game design, so why not read them ?

Mentioning Polygon's donation from Microsoft is an ad hominem (attacking the source and not the argument to discredit instead of debate). It's a logical fallacy and looks petty.

Disclosure: I think Polygon was sheisty in accepting the money and that certainly speaks volumes about them, but that's a completely separate "issue" from any particular review score. If you disagree with the score, debate the review, not the reviewer.

GSG Flash

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
Polygon lololol

Not saying the game isn't worthy of that 7.5 since I haven't played it yet(although I doubt it based on the other reviews and ND's track record), but isn't this the same website that gave SimCity a 9.5?

Didn't Kollar also say Forza Horizon didn't look that great in his review?

I wouldn't worry too much about the Polygon score as they can always change it at a later date.
LOL!

It's a nice out they've created for themselves, eh? Built-in backpeddling in the mission statement!

There is some serious fanboy rage up in here. And none of us have even finished it!

Fixed. And there are some journalists in here who have finished it.

I don't think certain members of Polygon deserve anything but logical fallacies truthfully.

People have tried to debate the review and they've been overshadowed by people eager for meltdowns, sarcasm and self-righteous posts. Otherwise known as a review thread for a Naughty Dog game :p.

read the GameSpot review and the score doesn't really seem to match up with what he said (and the goods & bads) it really reads like a game that would get a 9.0 :-/

Polygon is a joke and doesn't deserve to be mentioned

it was $750,000 not $750

I'm failing to see what is so bad about this. I'm sure industry people talk about this kind of stuff all the time pre-embargo. Unless the suggestion is he was trying to influence some other reviewer's score or something.

Not that he hasn't done a lot of other dumb ass stuff.
