You can get it new for $65-70 AUS from eBay sellers or elsewhere online. I don't understand who in their right mind would pay ridiculous Australian retail prices for games when there are a vast amount of online alternatives to choose from. It doesn't even involve looking that hard to find them.

I buy my games mostly from JB or Big W if I buy day one (which is rarer and rarer these days). No point waiting 1-2 weeks to save $10.

I was taking Polygon reviews seriously and if it weren't for this thread and for Gaf users saying that MS funded Polygon, I wouldn't even consider getting this game. Damn it I was so ignorant

I don't think it's as much of a cry for a conspiracy, as much as Polygon seems to do whatever generates clicks.

Just bought the digital version on the US PSN! Normally I would get the disc, but I don't want to wait for delivery of the US version. And I don't live in the US right now.

If there is eventually a GOTY disc version I will probably get that too just to have a backup physical copy.

Why in the world would you read the comments of a TLOU video at all? I don't feel bad for you guys getting spoiled, it's been mentioned in several threads before to avoid comments.

Superlatives

I've been trying in this review to hold off with superlatives. I've been trying, basically, to emulate the dry style of writing that makes The Last of Us so good.

What I want to say is this is the best written game I've ever played, the game with the best central performances I've ever seen. I want to say that, even if you've been playing videogames for your whole life, for 20, 30 or even 40 years, The Last of Us has the most astounding action sequences you'll have ever come across. I want to use the word "ever" a lot.

But in homage to The Last of Us, I'll avoid devolving into clichés. The highest praise I can give, really, is to insist this is something you play. It's not even a case of "a game like The Last of Us only comes round once a generation." Nothing like this has been made, ever. There are dashes of inspiration from Cormac McCarthy, P.D. James and American primetime, but The Last of Us is a real first. As I said in my opening, it's a character drama. It has the sophistication and density of a good novel.

The Naughty Dog staff have proven themselves the most talented developers working in games today. They've taken on this enormous, dense project - an amount of coding, work and systems implementation I can only speculate towards - and created a finished game which feels like the auteured vision of one person. I've never played a game so tight and cohesive, a game which stays so true to its initial ideas. The Last of Us never wastes a breath. To allow myself one big claim, just for the finale, this might be the best game I've ever played.

It's $20 cheaper elsewhere if he'd prefer to have the game on release day, or otherwise, if he can wait 1-2 weeks, it's $47 cheaper. Asking him to pay $98 is just cruel. :p

Many stores probably have the game already, Im guessing a few people work at game stores or know people who do. Nobody ever explains how they get them lol they just show a picture like na na na na na naaaa, look at me. lol

Been playing the game for the past two hours and its stunning!

One thing though I'm not getting trophies at all... Not even in XMB trophy section, there isn't a TLOU entry. Weird.

Maybe because I'm playing before the release? Or playing an EU copy on an NA account?

Anyways I don't care, I'm sure I'll replay it plenty of times.

No that is normal, one reviewer said he only got 4 trophies through the whole game.

Well if you guys want the game a little early – here in Australia apparently EB have them already in stock but are not selling them yet. I suppose you could fly over here and try and break in to an EB store! >_>

Yesterday I was taking to the boss (I kinda know him) and he said he started it. He couldn’t say much but he told me it gave him the same feels like when he played Ocarina of Time for the first time.

Josh on PSNation podcast said that when he finished the game (like 18hours) he had only gotten like three trophies. If I remember right, he said most were for finding the items in the game.
