Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F (PS3) coming to NA/EU in Aug (Retail/Digital, Demo Tues)

As I just posted in the main Project DIVA thread, I can't help but feel that they just earnestly want to give the franchise a shot here, and the logical move is to start by targeting the largest install base. If this release does well maybe they will be willing to branch out from there.

More likely they don't want $40 version canibilizing sales of $60 version. Because i don't see how it makes sense to avoid minimal risk of doing digital only release for Vita alongside PS3 version.

I hope this comes with a miku figurine so I could look up her short skirt!

Won't happen, but if it were to happen it would probably be a crappy figure. Thankfully, there's a lot of great Miku figures out there for this purpose, and I personally recommend Max Factory's Tony ver. for a great view.

With all that facebook promo Sega was pulling, I was kind of expecting this would happen, nice that it has been confirmed. I will definitely pick it up, although might not get it at launch, backlog here is ever growing, haha

Also, OT could use a pun with one Miku's best songs

Wait...retail!?

I'm surprised enough to see us getting it at all, but the fact that I can get a physical version too? ...I am speechless.

DAY ONE!

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.
I want to support this and I probably will, but I really prefer rhythm games in handhelds [snip]
This is me.

I really appreciate that Sega is not cheaping out with a DD-only release. I'm not entirely sure I'm up for an entire game full of robotvoice, so the ability to resell is key to my willingness to hazard an initial purchase.

Well, this is a turn up for the books. I suppose it's also one of those games whereby you can get away with just translating the menus, so it's a relatively cheap translation job. I am genuinely surprised they are planning a retail release for this in North America, however.

I'm absolutely shocked they're doing a retail release.

This is perfect too since I have the Vita one already. Will be nice trying it on the PS3.

Well, this certainly saves me some decent cash (was always waiting for some of them to go budget). Was going to go with the Vita version, but since this is coming out, why not wait?

I've heard great things about these games. I can't wait to get this.

Will buy to get the new songs and to support the game.
Will be my 6th project diva game.

Can't wait to see 99% of the players unable to get the golden tiara because the challenge will be too hard :)

I have both the Vita and PS3 versions and can confirm that this is an excellent rhythm game as long as you like the music. Definitely check out the demo if you are curious.

For people who are wanting a handheld version, I highly recommend just importing the Vita version. It doesn't have all of the content of the PS3 version, but there's still a ton to do and it is super import friendly. The cost will be high, but it is worth it IMO.

I just remembered this is the version that has that Nyan Cat song. Not to mention the DLC song is Po Pi Po with Toro & Kuro dancing in the background. If we get that DLC, I will have more interest in this game.

I'm gonna assume that After Burner II song in the arcade version won't make it in...

Well, you can get all the content as DLC. But that's expensive and forces you to use your Japanese account on your Vita.

I think there was one outfit and one song. Both worth it.

A bit more than that. The DLC packs thus far that apply to the PS3 version are:
  • Neru, Haku, Teto pack (three more characters)
  • ToroKuro pack (includes PoPiPo special edition)
  • Snow Miku 2013 module pack

All the Sega covers are still exclusive to Arcade.

I hadn't though of that. I haven't bothered to use a JP account on my Vita because I hear it is a hassle to switch back and forth.

Figured as much. Not gonna get my hopes up, but maybe Sega will make them DLC or something. Would love to have After Burner & Magical Voice Shower, not to mention the Sonic and Ulala outfits.

The Sonic module was from extend and the Ulala outfit was from the first game, actually. There was an offline poll a few months back where Sega had asked what module from previous games should be brought over to f/F as DLC - we haven't heard the results from this yet nor the online poll for what older song should be brought over.

Hm, really? This is surprising.

So, how does this game play, anyway? Is it a rhythm game or something?

I actually streamed a bunch of gameplay from the import versions of the series if you want to check the recordings out: http://www.twitch.tv/starcreator

No retail ? I would have supported and bought the game if it was retail, but fuck you SEGA.

I'll keep playing my vita version.

yeah, it's a rhythm game. You basically just have to hit the right inputs as they fly towards silhouettes that appear in front of the video for each song. There's a lot of side content, unlockable outfits, customization, and extra content to keep you busy. It's a fantastic game.

Although its cool the PS3 version is coming, I really wanted a Vita version more. The Vita version looks heck more fun, and this looks like one of those more fun on a handheld game. One of those types of games you would play when your bored waiting.

I watched your "Project DIVA F - キャットフード Extreme Perfect" video.

Three thoughts after that:

1. I take it that's the hard mode?
2. My Customized Arcade Stick will come in handy here. Faster for tapping.
3. I'm gonna try the demo.

It's Extreme (the difficulties are Easy, Normal, Hard, Extreme). Your arcade stick isn't going to work - you need use of both the D-Pad and the buttons simultaneously (the arrow "doubles") as well as at least one analog stick (the stars). The game really plays best on a Dualshock 3, naturally; it was designed for the Vita, though stars mapped to touchscreen swipes is still more accurate.

It makes perfect sense to release the PS3 version. No one has a Vita here, t it wouldn't be a good gauge to interest in the series to release in on Vita.

So that's what the stars are? I thought they might mean "any". D-pad and buttons at the same time would be easy enough, but switching from d-pad to analog for the stick would be awkward. And the arrows mean "Button(color) and D-Pad(direction) simultaneously? Dualshock 3 it is, then.

I had kind of hoped I could use the stick for this game, I don't play many fighting games anymore.

Kinda sad they are releasing a disc version - is going to raise the price. As a Digital only game, they could have changed 30-40 instead of the full 60 this likely is going to be.

Hope it sells well enough to not be the last game in the franchise brought over.
