People have been trying to push Utena on you for months for a reason.

I just don't know if that's my sort of thing, though.

You'd think after all the abuse that your preferred genres give you, you'd be open to the idea that something outside your comfort zone would be worth checking out.

In other words, watch Utena.

Well I mean, I guess you have a point here. I'm just kind of apprehensive of watching shows outside my comfort genre because if I DON'T like them I don't know what to say. I'll check it out after I finish HotD. Branching out is supposed to be good for you or something.

The stoplight gag, a conversation held entirely in mouth popping, bathing luchadores, and so much more. I love this show. Yukari continues to have the best lines, and Yuzu's Sengoku delusion was awesome. (She's been both Nobunaga and Masamune, I trust her on this one.)

How can you be disappointed with a console that has bayo 2 on it

I was wondering this also.

Most people are going to buy a PS4 for KH3 and Versus, and these games don't even have a release date yet (and given SE previous history, KH3 is most likely going to be a PS5 title)

At least Bayonetta and X will both deliver for 2014.

Honestly I feel similarly right now about Ps4. Aside from indie stuff not a lot stood out to me.
Im not a fan of KH or FF or MGS and theres no Uncharted game so theres little else yet. Its a waiting game.

You've had plenty to say about a lot of the things you didn't like.

Yeah, but when its mecha shows I can cut loose because its not like I haven't seen mecha shows. In other genres there's the chance that I just don't like the genre/it doesn't appeal to me/whatever.

Funimation has revealed that they got Evangelion 3.0 (as their announcement for getting 1mln likes on facebook :/ )

Once upon a time I was also rather unsure about the idea of watching Utena myself, because it just looked so girly and so on, but the show is more than good enough to make that a non-issue after a while. Even though I can't speak for anyone else, I felt it was a memorable experience and became one of my all-time favorites for several reasons, all the way from the characters to the music.

Wii Fit Trainer is bringing Yoga Pants to Smash. Thank You, Based Sakurai.

Godannar 12

Freaking heavy episode. Goh lets
his best female friend die in his arms
, has to deal with
his amnesiac former lover regaining her memories
and also
his high school waifu walks out on him.
All this on top of
going through PTSD for losing a battle and having his adopted daughter figure run away from home with the guy who kicked his can.

When did a happy go lucky show about giant robots get so depressing?

Ugh, it's gonna be a pain going back through this thread to see what I missed. Gaming side has been chaos.

I never thought that Sakurai would put the Wii Fit Trainer in of all people. All we need now is Shulk and Chrom.

Doesn't looks like my original post made it through the server down time. I watched Gargantia episode 10 today. I am disappointed with this series. I just want it to be done...

The show does, surprising, have a heart. The last couple of episodes in the second season are particularly heavy, iirc.

To answer Narag's query the second episode DOES get Obari as fuck.
This show certainly likes to lay the :SDBurton thick but I love it for it!
Look at all that 80s violence.
Also

Yeah really loving this. It's a very special OVA I'll tell you that.

Don't worry we'll still judge you either way.

Lets Play: Suite Precure: 01

Ah, music. It is the color of our lives. And now, it is the basis of a Precure season. So it looks like our two new Precure will be searching for and collecting the lost notes of Major Land's magical song... thingy. But wait! The two Precure don't get along! How will they ever save that magical land from the evil of barbershop trios and black cats?

They'll be getting along fine after the next episode...

Always like this look for characters. The action was alright but I thought she was kind of young to be giving some of those scenes of panty shots and what not, awkward.

Cardcaptor Sakura 3

Why was she wearing a jester outfit?

I may have overlooked it, but I didn't see a chaperone with Sakura and her friends at the aquarium. There had to be one there, right? I mean, you don't just send fourth graders to a place like that all by themselves. You know what happens if something happens to one of them? You get sued up the ass, that's what.

Sakura's brother doesn't seem to have much personality. He could have at least asked something to the effect of "Dude...why are you here with my sister?" Then again, Yukito seems like such a classy guy that he probably asked him ahead of time if that was okay. He's a real dreamboat that one. Though I have to wonder why he took Sakura out like that. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume his intentions were benign.

What the hell was Kerberos doing? Did he think those sunglasses were going to fool anyone? And what the hell at him with the young boy? "Go away kid, or I'll fuck you up." Dude...stop being so cute if you don't want children coming up to you. Oh, and does Tomoyo have to film everything Sakura does?

Earlier question about Sakura's outfit choice aside, it's pretty cool that she's apparently going to wear a different outfit for each encounter. Nice little touch. Still waiting for one as cool as the one in the OP though.

Arata the Legend Episode 9 – Demonization
tumblr_mo94r0Yb3W1qbxqfpo1_500.png

The scene teased in the OP looked great as it was featured in the anime. The water and the slab of rock, the running and jumping from the cliff was really beautiful, and it greatly complemented the feelings experienced by Hinohara and his changing attitude from the start of the run to the end. The scenes there in remembrance of Kadowaki and his friendship, combined with the other girl telling Kadowaki that his hate is actually great feelings of affection and deep friendship was really quite pleasing. I think they will definitely make up at the end of the day and go the friendship route. The writer has really written quite well for the genre making it really feel like the feelings we experience in say other genres with similar misunderstanding and potential falling out of characters in the past and their backgrounds, well quite a few bl works. I really liked this episode.

A second ED already, I liked it better than the first ED, good choice of scenes and that Kadowaki Hinohara picture in it is great.

Utena 9

My facial reaction these past couple of days. How can I live without posting my Utena impressions on Gaf?

The plot finally moves! And we see more about Touga. Backstory about our loveable redheaded douche (and Sanouji, but who cares about him. Hell I cannot even bother to spell his name right)!

Oh yeah, Hey show! When you want the audience to wonder who called Utena about Himemiya's kidnapping, YOU SHOULDN'T SHOW THE HAIR! "Hmmmm, I wonder which red headed character called Utena?...Oh wait."

Utena 10

Utena2_zpsa698fe77.png

Do cats actually drink milk in real life, or is this simply something anime and cartoon have made up? I truly don't know the answer to this question.

Who needs enemies when you have Touga as a friend.

And Nanami is like an anime baby Ceresi, i.e. she is a batshit insane character. I can see how people like this pathetic little girl. But hot damn I can't wait to see something bad happen to her.

Though, she would probably be okay if Touga didn't touch her in those creepy fashions. Actually, she also reminds me of Buster from Arrested Development. She has an unhealthy obsession about her brother like Buster had an unhealthy obsessions about his mother.

Utena 11

Touga is a smart dude. I'll give him that. I shouldn't be surprise by his personality. I had those majors feels during the final parts of this episode. Utena. :-(

This show is so bloody good.

Most of the problems in this episode could have been resolved if Sakura told Kerberos that she found those two cards from the beginning. Still a rookie.

Is every "Leave it to Kero" segment just going to be him talking about Sakura's battle costumes? I can see them myself, dude.

Many cats are lactose intolerant. Do not feed your cats milk unless you know they can handle it.

Or onions. Which has a tendency to kill them.

I would argue that they didn't want to hide the identity of that character. The colour choices in Utena are always deliberate, down to the spinning roses.

Utena seems like a show that asks the viewer to rewatch it a few times. So much stuff is crammed into it. It's so lovely.

And your theory is probably the right one. That thought crossed my mind, but I like the caplock bar too much, so I decided to simply yell.

Right, time for a few impressions I wasn't able to post earlier because of the Wii Fit Trainer Festival (as E3 shall henceforth be known, all praise our new pastel-coloured overlord).

Futari wa Precure Max Heart 32

A sweet episode in more ways than one.

Nagisa and her lacrosse buddies have to contribute articles to this month's school newspaper, but Nagisa completely forgets about the article she was supposed to write for the "town's most charming smiles" series. With just one day left to get an article written, sudden inspiration arrives in the form of a pear orchar— no, wait, that was a different episode. This time, sudden inspiration appears in the form of a delivery of delicious dango from a shop that Honoka used to visit all the time as a child.

As Honoka and her grandmother reminisce about the dango shop, Nagisa realises that the little old lady who runs it could have the perfect smile for her article. So off they go to the dango shop, where they learn all about how dango are made and how the old lady loves her job because it makes everyone around her happy. Just when everyone's in agreement that these dango are the best around and it looks like Nagisa has the perfect material for her article, the old lady sadly informs them that she's thinking of retiring soon - she's getting old, after all, and business isn't what it used to be.

This revelation spurs Honoka to decide to write the article herself, to let as many people as possible know all about this wonderful place before it's too late. And sure enough, after the article is published, customers start flooding to the shop, and the little old lady decides that she might carry on for a little while longer after all, because her customers bring her just as much happiness as she brings them. HAPPINESS EVERYWHERE END.

But now I want to eat some freshly roasted dango. DAMN YOU PRECUUUUUUURE!

Futari wa Precure Max Heart 33

It's Nagisa's birthday again, and it looks like her family have forgotten all about it! (Yeah...suuuuure they have.) More to the point, Fuji-P hasn't remembered either. In fact, he seems a little preoccupied with his own worries.

Thanks to a little contrivance from Honoka to get the two lovebirds alone together, Nagisa gets Fuji-P to confide in her. Turns out he's losing confidence in his football skills. Nagisa makes a very flustered attempt to cheer him up, but it seems to strike a chord with him, and he regains his positive attitude. Then Nagisa, appreciating that this is her big birthday chance that Honoka gave her, works up the courage to confess her feelings to Fuji-P...

...until the Big Red Bad Guy shows up at the most inopportune moment possible. BATTLE BATTLE BATTLE.

To Nagisa's credit, she doesn't give up after one failed attempt, and goes for Confession of Love Take Two...only to turn it into a confession of her undying support for him at the last second. Sigh. Still, she seems happy enough, and at the last moment, Fuji-P even remembers to wish her a happy birthday!

...Oh, and when she gets home, there's a surprise party waiting for her. Of course there is.

Futari wa Precure Max Heart 34-35

A two-episode mini-arc covering Nagisa and Honoka's class field trip to Kyoto! Yaaaaaaay Kyoto. I lived there for a year. It's a nice place.

After some prerequisite sightseeing, the girls run into Big Red Bad Guy in the middle of Ye Olde Village Experience. To be specific, on the set of a historical drama TV show that Nagisa's a big fan of. But wait...Hikari isn't part of their class, so she shouldn't even be in the same city as the Cures! Are they going to have to face an enemy by themselves for once?!

Of course not, because Hikari chooses this moment to show up in Kyoto, having followed them there of her own accord (she gets a proper scolding from the teacher afterwards, as you might expect). To be fair, she had fairly good reason to do so, since Wishun had emerged unbidden from the Chairect and started making ominous predictions about "the truth approaching" again. Don't really want to be separated when shit's about to go down.

And in the second episode, go down it does. Somehow the Little Boy of Evil has ended up in Kyoto too, and while the other two girls are busy fighting Big Red again, Seekun senses the evil kid's presence and flies off to find him (you idiot, Seekun) and Hikari promptly runs off after her (you idiot, Hikari). Needless to say, the two run into each other (again) and perform their little world-freezing-sudden-fainting scene the second they set eyes on each other (again). What actual lasting effects this has isn't very clear, but it sure is ominous.

And then the bad guys are chased off and the field trip comes to an end. So that's that.
