I doubt it.

As for the controller, looking forward to trying it out myself, I somehow hope I will be more comfortable using the analogue sticks this time.

Yeah, if you're from the bizarro world. :p

Symmetry is where it's at.

I realized recently why I don't like it as much as the 360. It goes back to the NES/SNES days. The directional input should be directly across from the buttons on the right side. Now in 3D space, you use the left stick for everything so it's across from the buttons on the right side. Your hands automatically go to that position, if you're used to the older systems. Therefore having your left thumb lower and not even with the X/B/A/Y or shape buttons feels wrong.

So that's the breakdown of things, but everything taken as a whole has created a controller that feels almost stupidly great in my hands. Yesterday I felt my next child move for the first time. I felt her tiny feet kick through my wife's belly, my hand finally being given its first tactile evidence that my child is alive and healthy. That experience was several steps higher than feeling the PlayStation 4 controller for the first time but, damnit, they were closer than I'm comfortable admitting.

so embarrassing.

The Xbox One Controller.

Because, of this whole PS4 vs Xbone hyperbole bonazna i take every positive PS4 comment and every negative Xbone comment with a grain of salt.
Im sure the dualshock 4 is good, but i doubt its better than the Xbox 360 controller, and im pretty damn sure its not better than the Xbox One controller......let alone being slightly better than the best thing ever.

hahaha Game Journalism.

Can you point me to some articles that are orgasming the same way about the Xbone controller? Or are you just basing their quality on fucking internet JPEGs and a personal bias.

Come on, son. These "Game Journalists" are no strangers to either controller, be it PS4 or Xbone, yet they lavish the praise on the Sony hardware. And here you are claiming it's worse than something you have never even held or seen in person.

The new design, particularly the triggers, worry me slightly. It's enough to have doubts it will be better than the 360 controller, but we'll see.

What the fuck did I just read? Yeah, the controller sounds ace but damn man. Well maybe he's just playing to the crowd.

It felt like the first time I touched a girl’s breast in the backseat of a car with fogged up windows, scared that her parents were going to fling the door open and start yelling at me. I wanted to grab the controller and run. I wanted to nuzzle it against my face and ask it who is a good controller? Who is a good controller?

You’re a good controller, you sexy thing, you.

He had to have been drunk when he wrote that.

Regardless, my two fears about the controller are:

- Making the sticks feel like the heavier 360 sticks. The lighter DS 2/3 sticks were perfect for fine tuning your aim / turns / speed / movement

- The button feel becoming worse as a result of going all digital. The analog feel of the D2/3 buttons is just Godly.

People read that shit on a regular basis? Fuck. Did they move the stick placement on the PS4 to a configuration similar to the 360 controller?

Can't wait to try it out for myself.

But I can't imagine any controller ever being better than the 360 controller. It's just too good.

I found the face buttons to be bulbous and the D-Pad to be horrific for XBLA games.

When a D-Pad gets Pac-Man wrong = it's a bad D-Pad

I'm hyped about the DS4 but do we really need this kind of hyperbole! Has there been a straight froward write up of it yet anywhere?

And good god stop with the placement shit. I really wish the mods would place that crap in the same tier as port-begging and make it a bannable offense. It's a preference not a fact.

D-Pad is the word thing about the 360 controller. But I heard the morphing D-Pad on the silver controllers is better. I'm glad they fixed it for the One.

Dude, have you played on a PS Vita? The clicky buttons/d-pad has spoiled me, it feels so responsive and immediate, IMO.

I'm ok with tighter sticks, I don't have a problem with them (DS3 sticks) 90% of the time, but I can't get used to playing PES without the d-pad (which supposedly doesn't give the full range of movement), had less trouble playing it with the analogs with the 360 pad, but I wonder if it was because of the super shitty d-pad on that thing lol.

Ben Kuchera's writing reminds me of when I used to write essays with word counts, and padded them out with unnecessary rubbish after realising I'd actually run out of things to say. The actual content of his articles/blogs could probably be fitted into 3 twitter posts.

I'd rather have symmetry in the right place, rather than at the weird angle you have to place your thumbs with the Dualshock design. Why they insist on keeping the sticks in the "afterthought" position I'll never understand. I mean, if that was the best position, the original Playstation controller would have had the bloody D-pad there!

They make it sound like the DS4's dpad is not like the Vita's, but that it's still serviceable. I wonder if the cross D-pad on the XBO controller is at least on the level of what Hori offered with the EX2, if not better.

The new design, particularly the triggers, worry me slightly. It's enough to have doubts it will be better than the 360 controller, but we'll see.

Understandably I guess most of you guys like it because you play a lot of shooters. I disliked the 360 controller though. I've been playing on Sony systems since the first Playstation so I'm really use to the stick placement which I prefer over the 360 stick placement. But besides that I also disliked the D-pad and the face buttons became a bit painful to press when playing games that required a lot of button presses in longer play sessions. Plus using the triggers for anything other than racing/shooters wasn't that comfortable IMO.

Not that I didn't have my own grips with DS3, it definitely had a lot of flaws itself. But I think it was a better overall controller and I look forward to the next evolution of the controller.

Nothing but praise from everyone for the DS4, can it really be that good.

nothing but praise from everyone for PlayStation in general

Sony hit the ground running in Feb. 20 haven't stopped since then, they've been nailing everything since the announcement. But to be fair MS isn't making it any harder

First, the DS3 and Sixaxis had significantly lighter sticks than even the DS2. 360-like tension is only a bit heavier than what Sony used from '98 to' 06.

Second, what do you mean by the "analog feel? The component that made the DS2/Sixaxis/DS3 buttons analog was a paper-thin pressure sensor that really didn't change the feel of buttons at all. If you're talking about games with pressure sensitive face button or R1/R2 stuff, yeah, that is indeed no longer possible.

Doesn't that just show that much fewer people have problems with the xbox controller?

OR less people who prefer the symmetrical layout feel the need to whine about it in threads for asymmetrical controllers that they know are going to asymmetrical before they enter the thread.

It never adds anything to the discussion and is entirely subjective.

I dont understand having such a strong preference for pads that it could influence a decision to buy a console. I'll fuckin play on anything.
