Hahahaha Nia circlejerk episode

Although it's really nice to have an episode that has good Yoko dialogue.

I've never played the GC Fire Emblems. I've only played Fire Emblem 7, the one for the DS with terrible, horrible, awful face art, and Fire Emblem Awakening.

And I'm pretty sure I hated that Niacentric episode.

I can't even call best girl for Gargantia. They're all kinda shmeh.

Ridget or Bellows. Leaning toward Ridget because she hasn't been shown to have feelings for Worst Guy Pinion.

Lol there was also that moment when the expressed their distaste of the various scanlation groups that were publishing their work on the internet translated

Might have played a role too

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. I wanna see Hirano and Saeko kill more zambulies.

Kaname over Tessa just not an option bro, Sagara don't know quality stuff.

Kaname's way better than Tessa. Tessa doesn't even shine as a character to me until after the end of the anime.

Okay, just so I'm completely certain: Lord Stark never actually says "Brace Yourselves, Winter Is Coming" does he? Because I don't remember the Brace Yourselves bit and that's the part that seems to have caught on for some reason.

I like good anime too.
I entered the "most anime is awesome and amazing" stage years ago and really never left it.

Sometimes I worry that if I watch too many bad anime I'm going to wind up like Novid. Speaking of, where is Novid? It's been too long since he posted.

Is the LN worth reading? does the dumbness live up?
From the first 5 or so volumes I read, it suffer from Light Novel syndrome; all events are uniquely paced to last precisely as long as a typical light novel (which sounds kinda redundant now I read that back) so the tempo and pacing never really changes. Perhaps it becomes more involved later but it smacked a bit of "Grr, you foiled me this time! I'll be back again with my master plan in a later volume! Just you wait!"

A few interesting ideas but over saturated with characters.

Edit: Right, I'll kill Dark Fact in Ys I and then it's Yuyushiki time for real this time.

Edit: Ahahahaha, fuck you, you bastard end boss. I am the fucking victor now!

Perfect blend of cute and creepy

Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East 9

Shino being scared over the "rabbear" was pretty funny. The song in the episode was really good, actually made me went back to listen again. Only then did I realize the lyrics to the song was about them and Hamaji.

I find myself actually enjoying most animes I've watched. I guess I'm just positive about these kinds of things lol

I'm pretty much the same, but there's still a fair amount of stuff that I try and drop quickly because it doesn't interest me. I rarely reach the point of watching something I actively dislike though.

OK, I take it back - I've just hit the second half of Fresh Precure and, man, that second arrangement of the OP is TERRIBLE.

so I was bored and reading up Index wiki entry... stuff about
world war 3 and russia and shit
peaked my interest.

Is the LN worth reading? does the dumbness live up?

The first of those spoiler tagged plot arcs is really, really dumb if that's what you mean. I'm not really sure why Index fans hold it up as this high watermark, as whilst there's a few entertaining characters introduced around then, the actual narrative to it is stupid and borderline nonsense.

The Index novels are fun if you can roll with the dumbness, though, and are peppered with the occasion good character moment. The thing is that, somehow, one in about every five novels actually seems to turn out really quite decent, but one in every four kind of reminds you how insufferably stupid it can get. The rest are entertaining enough, I guess, but I probably wouldn't have read them if I wasn't bedridden and high on painkillers at the point I started.

Date A Live Ep. 12 (End):
Origami for greatest
bitch of the year.
I really don't know what to say about this show, it's pandering to the max, most of the cast sucks, and when it gets serious it becomes cringeworthy to watch but I somehow liked this show. It had some genuinely hilarious shit in it but was hampered down by its plot. Kurumi and Kotori were the best though, I do hope with the current unavailability of the PS3 VN (because it got too many preorders, bestselling) and the increase in sales of the LN that we get a second season.

same. which is why my MAL score is pretty high. Why finish terrible shows? Watch good shows instead.

I'm more curious how DTL can seemingly rewatch all of bleach/naruto/OP like annually lol.

You're actually burning through it because you're enjoying it, right? I mean, I think you are, but half of my anguish over this is the thought of something like Max Heart becoming a rite of passage for new people who lurked when I was posting hate-filled episode impressions. I don't want to be responsible for influencing other people, inadvertently or otherwise, into adopting masochistic viewing habits or just plain wasting time that they could have used watching good shows. Don't be like me, only watch things because you actually like them!

Ahah, trust me, I wouldn't have watched a whole 47 episodes plus two movies of it if I didn't honestly want to. Hatewatch isn't my style. If there was anything driving me to watch Max Heart despite the mediocrity, it was my own completionist nature and desire to work through to the more enjoyable parts of Precure. Your hate for it didn't really factor into the equation (though it did help to prepare me for some of the low points, so I guess I should thank you for that!)

And in the end, I found plenty to enjoy in Max Heart despite everything, so it's all good either way =D

I think this was the reason why I beasted through Max Heart in about 2 shot glasses/days

Another animated tv special on the way for One piece, this time our favorite straw hater the Going Merry is getting it's own tv special called One Piece Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend

One Piece Episode of Merry: Mō Hitori no Nakama no Monogatari (One Piece Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend), will air on Saturday, August 24 at 9:00 p.m

Wait wait wait wait wait. This is going to be a remake of Water 7 and Enis Lobby from the perspective of the ship?! Holy shit.

Gurren Lagann 15

Nia opening the window and jumping into Gurren Lagann was unexpectedly well animated.

The awesome ridiculousness in this episode is just too great.

Looooool Viral got such a pathetic ass-whoopin

"The Spiral Power runs powerful through you." - Not-Darth Vader

Oh my grosh Nia cheering Simon on. This was like Viridi from Kid Icarus. Sooooo cute.

And that's the end of Star Wars: A New Hope -- I mean the first part of Gurren Lagann.

No anime for me tonight probably. Going to baseball game almost certainly.

I think tomorrow I'm just gonna start sampling shows that I have on my "Plan to Watch" (and from any recs, of course) and see what I like and go from there. After Clannad it's gonna be hard to match up :p Open to recs though.

Currently on the docket:

ef - tale of memories
Toradora!
Time of Eve
SNAFU

maybe also Kanon and Air idk

and some OVAs/Movies (Pale Cocoon, Summer Wars, and Denpa Teki na Kanojo)

Katanagatari 10

This is actually last Thursday's episode, but I didn't get around to watching it until today because of reasons. (Those reasons may or may not involve something starting with "P" and ending with "recure addiction".)

A very philosophical episode, to say the least. This episode's opponent (if s/he can even be called that) didn't even strictly have an appearance or even a personality of his/her own, instead drawing on
the appearance of various opponents who had troubled Shichika over the course of the series
and
the personality of Togame's late father, who she had long tried to forget
.

Rather than a battle, then, this episode took the form of an examination of our two protagonists' pasts and true motivations. Togame was forced to
face the traumatic memory of her father's death, so that she was able to recall his last words, which were an affirmation of his love for her. This spurred Togame on to admit that her father is, in a way, the reason why she is collecting the legendary swords in the first place.

Shichika, meanwhile, had to
fight a battle that was no battle at all, whilst seeking the answer to the question of why he is really fighting. The answer he reached - "for Togame" - was fairly unsurprising considering it's essentially the same reason he has given since the first episode, but it's interesting that he was able to affirm it with such conviction even after the sage stripped away any notion of attraction or love from the equation.

Perhaps more interesting than any of these personal epiphanies, yet treated more like an afterthought, was the revelation that
the final "blade" Shikizaki Kiki created, and the culmination of all his work on the better-known twelve, is Shichika himself - or at least, the Swordless Style passed down through his family
.

At any rate, as a result of facing up to their pasts, Shichika and Togame were able to retrieve their tenth "blade", which, in keeping with the philosophical nature of the episode, turned out to be
an empty scabbard
. Very meaningful, I'm sure.

That just leaves two blades to retrieve, both of which are already accounted for - the Flame Blade is in the hands of
the Denial Princess, who we now know is a descendant of Shikizaki Kiki himself, and her retainer, the enigmatic Emonzaemon
, and the Poison Blade is in the hands of
Maniwa Houou, leader of the ever-dwindling Maniwa Ninja
. Both prominent characters who have been built up significantly over the latter half of the series, to the point where either would be a worthy candidate for Shichika's final opponent. Judging from the end of this episode, though, it seems likely that
Houou and his Poison Blade are up next
.

Cardcaptor Sakura 16

A seemingly standard vacation episode becomes a reflection on death and the holes that are left inside of us have passed on. The reveal at the end that
the elderly man was in fact Sakura's great-grandfather, and that the little girl he was talking about was Sakura's mother
kinda tied it all together. I'm slightly disappointed that I didn't see it coming, but seeing how the man has been dwelling on it that long was just sad to see. Sakura gave him one hell of a gift of closure though. She really is mature beyond her years. Also gives
both the old man and Tomoyo's mom a good look at Sakura's father, and helps them see just why Nadeshiko fell in love with him in the first place. He has done a fantastic job raising her, really.

My only question I guess would be
what Tomoyo's mom was even doing there, She obviously told him that was his great-granddaughter, but I'm really not sure just how much she put him up to everything. His sadness and loneliness seemed very genuine, as did his happiness at looking upon the rainbow Sakura created.

Fantastic episode. Being able to bring moments like this is what often puts shows over the top.

I don't think any of the One Piece specials are clip shows. They're generally like TV movies, made from scratch. They tend to remake early material from the show which are fan favorites though.
Unless i forgot about one, this is the first time they touch to a material that was treated after ep 204( when the anime when widescreen and hd )

All the stuff before was a welcome thing since it didnt age that well.
Not sure about this part however

Doesn't really matter though. The announcement confirms it's brand new footage.
