However, the music and animation are top notch, and even if I dislike CG mechs as a rule, that odd 4 winged Qubeley-type was a pretty nifty machine.
CG mech? 4 winged? You mean the Kshatriya? That's not CG at all! (well most of it isn't anyways)

Edit: Generally speaking, almost all the mobile suits aren't done in CG.

In the case of Saionji it's refering to datedness, or long bygone eras and frames of mind. In the case of Miki it's referring to the "spira mirabilis", aka the golden ratio of which you find plenty examples in nature. It highlights Miki's talent and reputation as prodigy while also giving commentary on how that which he longs for (ie his sister's music) is an extinct ideal.

Oh I think there's plenty to analyse!

Utena: If you learned Japanese for this show, you'd still be a language short in understanding it! Dangum edumucational animus.

Why do they have that weird pallor that CG mechs have around them, then? Hm, maybe my video quality was just off.

If you are judging based on the Unicorn transformation sequence then that part is done in CG.

Edit: Just to erase some doubts. Here's a sakuga video showcasing animator Eiji Nakada's works which include a lot of 2D mecha. At around 49 seconds is a short clip that highlights his stuff from Unicorn Ep 1.

A Kickstarter to make a 10 hour video discussing why SAO is sexist. That works for me. :p

"He's gonna take you back to the past.
To watch shitty anime that suckass.
He'd rather have a buffallo
Take a diarrhea dump in his ear
He'd rather eat the rotten asshole
Of a road killed skunk and down it with beer
He's the angriest watcher you've ever heard
He's the Angry Anime Nerd"

I have to imagine that someone out there is doing the MST3K of anime. I'd hope so anyway, assuming they aren't getting DMCA'ed to oblivion. lol

Done, what's the ETA on the video? February 2020?
It's sexist to demand a timeline for the videos, you misogynist you.

10 hours? With 25 minute video segments done 6 months apart, you'll be spending half your life on SAO.
Well, you have to go into the light novels and the web only novels. Then you have to bring in someone Japanese to do dramatic readings of that Gun MMO thing that's in the later novels. It's a deep text that needs contemplative consideration!

It's a stupid idea to release an anime without an Engligh dub, only subs. Cheaper than importing, sure, but it just doesn't make sense....right?

With the collapse of the Western anime bubble, the cost of dubbing niche shows like Yuruyuri isn't worth it compared to how much they will sell. Although dubbing used to broaden the market for sales significantly, in an era where most people just watch streams or fansubs I suspect the demand for dubbing from the paying audience has decreased.

It makes much more sense from a business perspective for NISA to release a subs-only version.

Of course, you can't turn the subtitles off on this, to stop the Japanese from reverse-importation!

Where do I begin... The list is too long.

Seriously? I thought that this place was better than that. Dub haters are childish.
Yes, it is childish to appreciate the version with talented people that has magnitudes more resources being poured into it than a slapdash dub job.

I like dubs because I can just listen to anime while doing other important things. Helps me multitask. With subs I'm forced to watch the screen.
