Weren't you just defending these exact policies in that other thread?

No more always online requirement
The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
Authentication is no longer necessary
An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped

No way they do ALL of those things. I would have believed it if it was a subset of those items.

All of them? No.

So much for Sony's advantage.

I have always thought price was the main advantage Sony has, simply because I'm not sure how important used sales etc are to the early adopters. And because at a certain point most of the people buying a console would be totally unaware of stuff like always online or tying a disc to a single account and so on.

But yeah, did something happen on Fallon?

If true it's proof that consumers can stand up for their rights and win if they apply enough pressure and are resilient enough.

given they were defending it this earlier this week I find this incredibly unlikely

I will be, but will be waiting a year, most likely two so I can be sure they don't try to pull a fast one and re-implement them

same, but also will wait for a price drop

I can't even imagine the amount of backpeddling that Microsoft has to do now in terms of their image with the public. I guess this is a step in the right direction though.

Why so much hate for Kinect on GAF? Other than the potential of it spying on you, I think it is a decent feature. Especially since it has Skype integrated.

Guess what guys... WE WIN!

Still getting the PS4 but glad whoever choses the xbone doesn't get the short end of the stick.

Holy shit...

I mean, to say nothing of how this effects people's perspectives on the Xbone, think about the other other implications.

-What about deals made with pubs? (Were there deals?)
-What does this mean for marketing?
-What does this mean for games that have been advertised using the "cloud?" (Still maintain online requirements?)

Very crazy.

Edit: AAAAANNNNDDD... Giantbomb has crashed.

I wonder what is going to happen to games that use cloud computing.

Are they going to have a "Cloud required" icon on them. Are devs not required to make non Cloud versions? Will it be both and they will have "Better with the cloud" tags on them?

There's no way Microsoft has fully thought through this move yet. It's a knee-jerk reaction spurred by investors who threatened to abandon ship at the risk of the next XBox flopping.

Right now, there's at least one developer screaming "FUCK", and thinking about how the hell this game is now going to work.

Don't do it MS. Most of the people will just redirect their hate to Kinect.

I really do hate kinect, though. It's not a redirect.

That said, the DRM thing precluded me from EVER buying an xbone. I still currently prefer PS4, but if no one has the DRM, then I may at some point buy the xbone.

wtf...is this for real ? this must be the biggest u turn in the history of tech. must change name to xbox 180 now.
Good news for gamers if true. they should drop the price and kinect too.
