Games you remember, names you don't

Could anyone help me with the name of a 90's PC game that was a bit cyberpunky and featured the ability to hold an uzi up to the side window of your vehicle and blast away at hapless passersby...

Possibly it was called "Biohazard", but I cannot find any evidence of that as our American cousins used that name for what we call "Resident Evil".

Oh one more thing, what type of console is at the bottom right of this picture? The guy next to me at work is flat-hunting and found this picture which has been bugging us!

Unknown console

Thanks!

Looks like a late model Mega Drive.

Trying to think of an arcade game from the 1980s that I played once or twice around 1990-91. It was a side scrolling action/shooting platformer.

From what I remember the character you played looked somewhat like Samus from Metroid.

I remember a game for PSX, well I think its was for Playstation, I was a kid at the time.
The only thing I remember was it used more than one disc.
You played as a kid, or maybe even a young man. I think he had some kind of companion.
I think it was kind of a sidescroller.
The enviroment was kind of a cave/mountain thing.
And I'm pretty sure there were dinosaurs in the game, especially flying dinosaurs, kinda like Pterosaur of some sort.

I only watched my dad and uncle play it at the time, so I might remember some of the details completely wrong.

Pacman Clone, starring a red dot with sunglasses.
He starts each round (and calling the enmies) by whistling.
I remember playing it in an Atari 500.
Anyone got a clue?

I'd definitely say Genesis II over the Jaguar. You can see the two buttons for power and reset fairly distinctly.

Edit: Heh, wow, beaten. I guess I didn't notice a next page. Woo!

Yeah, I was answering from memory, then I actually looked up some pictures and the Jag looks quite a bit different from what I recalled.

Mad Mix isn't *quite* what you describe, but it is a Pac-Man clone from that era. If we're talking something closer to Gauntlet than Pac-Man, Puffy's Saga might be possible?

I remember playing some sort of Crash Bandicoot minigame with my neighbors where you were in some sort of bumper car and there were some balls scattered across the screen? My memory is faint and I might be completely wrong.

Neither, sorry. Though Puffy saga is a game I had played and essentially forgot about it till now.

I'll take a shot in the dark because it's come up before, but Xain D'Sleena/Solar Warrior?

Probably Quarantine; the slight confusion would be understandable.

Not sure. Could be a Genesis II, could maybe be a Jaguar.

Quarantine! Bang on. Thanks to all who suggested this. Has anyone ever replayed it, or should I allow my memories to remain fondly undisturbed?

Hmm, Megadrive II, I suppose so, must be the lighting that made it look two-tone, not black and red... I wonder if that is included in the monthly rental fee, or if you have to pay extra for classic entertainments...

The US version of the system is just black, doesn't have the red. So that's probably why there's no red on it in that picture. The red looks terrible, by the way. Glad our version didn't have that.

Hey, I'm thinking of a game for the PC:

-It was mid 90s.
-It was like an isometric action game, or puzzle game?
-The character looked like an alien monk kind of thing. He had like a green robe I think and was bald, possibly with a pony tail?
-It was very kind of simple polygons for the main character, but I think the background was prerendered.
-I'm watching Giant Bomb play Oddworld Abe's Odyssey and this is what reminded me of the game, but no clue if its related.

you sure it's not cool spot? red dot with sun glasses screams cool spot. there were quite a few games with him, one's a sidescroller, one's a isometric sidescroller (diagonal scroller?) and the third was probably the one you're looking for.

This is gonna be super difficult I know but bear with me and help if possible. Okay
So it's a JRPG if I remember correctly. It starts (or at least it did for me) in a beach and I believe your being taught the battle system that has maybe text bubbles from an older gentleman. Gosh I really wish I could remember more. Of course I don't expect an answer but you never know. I think the protagonist had orange hair. Playstation 1 game.

I think it sounds like Legend of Legaia. I know for a fact that an old man teaches you the combat system on a beach. Hero has blue hair so I dunno.

Here's the training session on beach...

There's an old DOS platformer I played a long while ago. Found it on a BASF floppy disk and remember it as a shareware/promotional game called Sound Race, but memory is somewhat blurry. I've asked about it both on Abandonia and Mobygames, with no luck. Here's a quick paste:

Hi there, wonderful forum section you got here, a great thing indeed.
I'm looking for an old DOS platformer. I remember it as Sound Race but I've been unable to find anything by that name and I've been looking for years now. So here goes:

- Played it early to mid 90s on a 486 or possibly a Pentium I (the former is more likely as it worked somewhat slowed down but this just might be due to poor game design/programming)

- As I remember it, the game was in a pack of BASF floppies and for some reason I remember it as a possible shareware/promotional BASF game. Also possibly in German but that might be a stretch.

- It was a simple sidescrolling platformer (left to right), playing a little human character (can't remember specifics, kind of a Dangerous Dave character) and your goal is to collect floppies, CDs, maybe records and musical notes for points. Don't remember any enemies.

- The graphics were very poor but certainly 256 VGA. I remember the background was consisted only of ciruclar gradients (blue as I remember it but possibly changing palettes). It's actually very reminiscent of games made by John Paul D'India ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axs_bc427IE ) but again, I didn't manage to find this game in any of them.

- Don't really remember the sound, quite possibly PC speaker.

I don't remember it as a good game or anything like that, but it was quite a long time ago and I've begun to think I might've made it up. I'd like to find it if possible, for nostalgic and collection reasons. Thanks!

- Mobygames thread link

A guy from Abandonia suggested it might be Nashuaman, and though there are some resemblances, it's definitely not that game. I've pretty much lost hope, but somebody might know something about this. Thanks. :)

What was that game, I think it was exclusive for the Wii, where you were like a spider or something? Like the game was set in a garden and you could fight other insects and stuff?

It's a tactical game, turn per turn. You play like a police or SWAT team or something similar.

One thing I remember is all your team wear blue suits,

The style is not realistic, drawn but not cartoony, more Comic Book style.

And IF I remember, in the team there was: The Black Leader with a machine gun, The Huge Blond Guy with the Shotgun, a Asian Girl I think and a Science Type Guy with I think his more like a Radar than a gun.

This as been on my mind for years.

When I was little, there was a Tandy PC at the day care place I went to. It had two games on it. The first was this nursery rhyme game where you picked up items around the world associated with each rhyme and brought it back to the people looking for it in the world. I found the name of this one a while ago, but I only mention it to narrow the time frame for the game I'm really looking for the name of.

This game was sort of like Zelda but was super basic. The screen was all black where you could move, and the walls were (I think) different solid colors in tetris like shapes. You moved from screen to screen by going to the corresponding side. I don't think your avatar was a character of any description, maybe just a block?

I don't think there was any combat unless it was just avoiding things, it was mostly running from area to area to find your way into the next area. I think each area had a color theme.

Vague I know, but it was 20 or so years ago.. Thanks!

The third Spot title is a boardgame, doesn't really fit the bill. Fundamentally the same as Ataxx.

I think this is an obscure one. It was on the PS2 and I think it was a racing game. I don't think you were racing against people, I think it was just against the clock but I'm not sure about that. All of the tracks were set in the city and I think one of the games selling points was that you could go nuts, you could unlock a tank and other crazy vehicles. I think the cover might have either had a car flying through the air or a car crashing into another.

I don't think it was a very good game, like a low rent Burnout but it's really annoying how I can't remember what it was.

Help me, GAF!

I remember playing a game on PC, must have been around 97/98. You piloted a kind of black attack helicopter that flew around taking out targets on the ground and in the air. It was all 3D and the level I remember was all kind of grassy landscape at night, but otherwise I can't remember much.

Anyone know what the hell I'm on about?

Ok, feel like this is a long shot due to my spotty memory on this game.

Math game on PC that I played around 1997. Could be older. Played it at school on a floppy disk. I don't think it was a math blaster. The game, in my memories of it, seemed to focus on math/collecting coins for your fish in your aquarium? I remember coins falling from the top of the screen and having to do math with the coins. If you did things right you got stuff for your fish?

Meh, maybe someone can help me.

Hmmm, I'll throw in Helicops and G-Police, even though the grass thing kinda kills G-Police outright. Was it a proper sim?

Sounds like one of the Runabout series to me.

Urban Strike? I think that was the first 3D strike one. If Urban Strike wasn't 3D, Soviet Strike might have been. There's also Nuclear Strike, too.

Whichever of the Strike games was 3D and came out on PC, basically!

Edit: Nuclear Strike's the only 3D + PC one.

There was a PC or Mac game i played as a kid at school back in the late 80s or early 90s and i believe it was a platform/shooter and i could never figure out the name of it. I remember staying up all night a few years back trying to find it but never could. It wasn't any of the big named stuff like number munchers.

I want to say the main character had blonde hair but this was 20+ years ago so i don't remember much if anything. I do know that i would remember it if i saw a video, some screens or played it. Now i want to hunting for it again. BTW i don't even remember it being a learning game, i just remember playing it at school or maybe one of those rec centers for kids, the kind where you go when your parents are working. (don't know if every city/state has them or even if they have these places anymore)
