GTA V 360: 2 discs, install from Disc 1 play from Disc 2. PS3: 1 disc, 8GB install

I normally install from the disc anyway so I'm fine with it.

So if you install the first disc, the second disc, when in the console, won't spin like any other installed game?

640p vs. 720p

ps3 version of GTAIV using better AF also & filter shadow, but people tend to forget this. Max Payne 3 lately has showed how much close Rage engine can be on ps3, is a very an excellent multiplat (the hell is that bullshit about worse AA? even DF said AA solution seems infinitely better to the blurried/less precise solution on 360). The only highly probable difference? Maybe more grass in some area on 360, but I think this time will be 720p on both, the use of custom AA save 20 MB, this the 'extra' ram that ps3 needs to reach 720p, in theory.

I doubt it will be that big of a deal for him, he bought a console for it already, I'm sure he can get a hard drive. But it is definitely an added inconvienience.

Wouldn't USB bottle neck the transfer speed compared to an hdd?
I wouldn't think so, not if its high speed. Either way it's better than not being able to play at all.

8GB is REQUIRED for 360, for the disc 1 install. The second disc you can just pop in the drive and play the game.

Since they're forcing an install here, I'm going to assume the data is going to be 'additional content' as it appears on your 360 HDD (think the 2nd disc from RE6 that had multiple other languages, or the 2nd disc from forza 4 which had more cars and shit but you only had to install it, didn't need it in the tray).

whelp .. more games should've gone with this route, it's a simple yet clever way to avoid disc swapping COUGHSTAROCEANANDMASSEFFECT3COUGH

Disc swapping never bothered me in the slightest and hasn't deterred the mass 360 gamers from enjoying any game released.

But, I agree 100% this definately would have been a great route all along for devs in past. But, when games like Star Ocean and Lost Odyssey were around the 360 didn't have the masses of 360 with the sizes of Hard Drives we have now.

Ca'n't wait to play this ovder Xbox Live, it's crazy how GTA IV stil has a big cult following with 360 fans over Live to this day.

Probably gonna double dip on this.....

Il get it for 360, then wait for steam sale and get it on pc just cause by then people will have the awesome mods out for it. (Steam sale as in its like 5 bucks)

Nice that they're doing to install setup that doesn't require disc swapping. Halo 4 did the same thing, don't know if other have done as well.

Really wish they would just announce the PC version. Oh well, PS3 version for me. Not like I have a choice as I started this gen with it and then migrated back to the PC mid-gen.

I trust Rockstar has enough experience with the PS3 version to make it better looking than IV. I gave IV a quick play last week and I forgot how horrible it looked. Really hoping the PS3 version will have native 720p this game and a more steady frame rate.

Haven't they been showing the PS3 version to the press? I'm sure both versions will be great.

I'm more concerned about aim and fire being on L2/R2 again.

nothing yet on a PC version? GTA4 on PC is incredibly fun with mods. I can't stand the single player so just messing around in multiplayer free mode with mods is a blast. And hopefully they keep the 32 player online. Its a damn shame saints row doesn't have that.

I thought graphics didn't matter guys?

And people say PS4's extra power won't make a difference. Ha fucking ha. Judging from the comments in this thread even the tiniest of differences matters. Man I wish there next gen version of GTA5.

360 fan = the 360 version is far superior and the difference matters a lot
PS3 fan= the difference is so small it dont even matter

360 fan = the x1 will be practically the same, its does not matter
PS3 fan = the x1 is well behind and the visual difference will be huge

unbiased gamer = RDR looks better on the 360, the PS4 should have the advantage in visuals on paper.

Is it true that Rockstar has been demoing GTAV on the PS3? Or am I mistaken. That would suggest the performance disparities of old have been addressed. Let's hope, at least. As I'm getting the PS3 version.

I do know that I don't have any space on my measly 20GB 360 HDD, so I'll be getting this for my PS3 as I have about 200GB free.

Eh, don't see the problem. The 360 version is likely going to be the best looking version, based on GTA IV, RDR and Max Payne 3.

A one time install isn't going to make me give that up.

Not for Max Payne 3. The PS3 version was a bit sharper, but the 360 version did run a bit better. And if Max Payne 3 is any indication, they'll both be native 720p.

Well, in theory, I imagine you are right. I don't see the reason to show the demo on ps3, if differences are huge.

*shakes head* Comments like this really are making gaming news sites simply intolerable as of late.

I just hope GTAOnline is closer to RDR multi than GTAIV multi (free-roam-wise)

Hey, as long as it's not broken like Skyrim was on PS3, I'm cool.

Regarding the MP.

As long as there is online free roam MP, I will be happy.

I would love it if free roam was expanded, such as how you attack bases in RDR could be transformed into robbing banks, can rob smaller stores, keeping the wanted system ( make it more modern), keep car and gun customisation/ have them copy over from the SP etc...

Would be awesome.

Why does the ps3 version require an install?? Is it because of bluray read speeds??

Probably. A lot of third party games on PS3 require an install. Depends on how much they optimize it for the console it seems. Even some first party/exclusives required them or at least give the option. Man installing every now and then on MGS4...lol

I just want a PC version... *uhg*

I'll wait for a graphical comparison first. *sigh*

If everything is pretty much equal PS3 version it is. (multi-discs is a pain)

You have to install it once, not really a pain.

I own both consoles, but I will stick to the Xbox 360 version. Probably better graphics, Gamerscore and I prefer the gamepad of the 360.

Possibly due to the the 360's dvd limited disc space, the game was probly designed around this limtiation,

I would imagine that the game world and side quests would be in the install and the game missions would be on the other disc

edit- If i still had my 360 I would only get that version if there were a RDR level of difference, otherwise I would of rather not have to pay £30 to upgrade to gold (XBL is a great service and I have used it many times but when your a multi console owner and have limited funds it does seem and expensive pain sometimes), but I dont have a 360 so i will be stuck with the PS3 version weather I like it or not!

Damn. I wasn't even expecting much other than IV's multiplayer. Now I'm really curious.

And as for the gameplay video, I already know I won't be able to resist watching it. I wonder what "soon" means. Could be a weak or two, could be end of August :lol

It will because of the Blu ray read speed which is the same reason there have been PS3 exclusive games with mandatory installs.

MGS4 didn't require an install because the 360 uses DVDs.....

GLad this is the solution they found. Was worried about the 360 version but now its essentially the equivalent to the ps3 one with this install, since ps3 is mandatory too.

Both console versions will look and run like crap tbh, does it really matter if one is 3% crappier? Just get the one where your friends are or the one with your favorite controller.
