The Wonderful 101 love thread

Not very known games or niche games could benefit a lot from Miiverse.

If this game is very good I can see Miiverse as a way of creating buzz, not only for this game but other games not having Mario in the title.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

I have no clue why Nintendo isn't opening up Miiverse communities for games they want to hype.

They do it for a game if a demo hits, and they did it for Disney's Infinity for some reason..I just don't get why it isn't standard, especially for their own titles.

At this rate, NoA will possibly unveil the black, silver and yellow superheroes which we are not given enough information with. That's a good thing. Maybe they could do more than snippets like 'because swords are cool'.

This will probably shock you, but I've never played a Kamiya game as far as I know. So I keep hearing you guys say his games have great replayability because it's a Kamiya game, but I don't really understand what that means.

I'm willing to give this one a shot to find out though, but I"m still not 100% sold yet.

If you have a PS2, Wii or PS3, you should check out a game called Okami. It'll give you a good idea of what we're all talking about in here. Even if you don't finish it by the time of Wonder 101, you should get a good impression of how awesome this guy's game can turn out.

The yellow is the hammer. There was also a guy throwing huge bombs, I don't remember the color. Also one like the Punch, but with Claws...

Okay so...nevermind. lol

Like all of Kamiya's games there will likely be an easy difficulty, so I wouldn't worry about it. There is the possibility it could have a patronizing name though, cause that is how Kamiya can roll. For example, Viewtiful Joe had "Kids" mode.

Resident Evil 2? Bayonetta? Okami? Devil May Cry? Viewtiful Joe? These games are classics! I expect W101 to keep the streak alive.

lol that's not what I'm worried about. I highlighted the part where I was like uhh what? lol.

I like challenging games. I NEARLY beat DMC on Dante Must Die mode. But Mundus' lava area...nope. =(

Unfortunately, the lowest rank is "Consolation Prize" rather than "Crappy" or "D'oh". At least the newspaper will still insult you. :p

I hope that guy with the postbox is a major hero. I like his costume.

Edit: vvv The guy on the very left is probably just a very good famicom player, actually ;)

Guy on the very left...his power is to steal the enemy's mail. And the guy next to him can jack cars. I see someone who probably collects the fee for late library books.

I'm just making fun =P

And even the control of those characters is entirely different.

This game looks really good and I want it, but sadly I don't have the money for a Wii U at the moment. Maybe in a year or 2. But I'd definitely track this down.

This game reminds me of Little Kings Story (for Wii, my personally game of the generation, not tha abomination that was the vita version). It has so much personality and charm. If this game has as much depth and comedy as LKS, then this may be my favorite game of this generation.
Do we know of the game is a big connectrd world like LKS or mission/level based.

great comparison in terms of feelings!
about the structure, the demo I played was mission based within a larger level. between one level and another there are loading screens with the shop to buy "power ups"
so we could say that it is structured in different levels (not connected) during which we face different missions

Everything points to it being mission-based. Not sure how connected everything is as you access a shop after each mission.

So it is a hybrid of pikmin and little kings story?? I can't dig that... My least favorite thing about pikmin is how it's not a big connected world. Pikmin could be forever changed with a metroid/zelda like world that you have to explore.

No, it's a completely different type of game. It really has nothing in common with either of those games, except that you have a ton of characters running around.

Gameplay and structure are nothing alike.

It sounds like this game could benefit from a demo, considering some people are still confused as to how the game is played. Not to mention it would probably help some people be aware of the game's existence.

I would hope that after the success of Fire Emblem Awakening, Nintendo would be more keen to demos for their smaller properties

correct
the game is absolutely a frantic action game.
yes, you have tons of mini-characters following you, but it plays as their would be a unique "avatar". you move the analog stick and the entire group moves; you push the attack/jump button and the entire group attacks/jumps and so on. then you can trace on the gamepad a symbol to activate a special attack/move that is/move like a unique entity

I don't know what the current trending OT titles are, but I think The Wonderful 101 | So Is This Like Pikmin? should be a strong contender.

I was passing on this game for sure, but now that I see it's definitely an action game...

Hype threads always messing up my finances...

I have two ideas for the title

The Wonderful 101 | I might be bald but I'm Viewtiful
The Wonderful 101 | Sentais May Cry

I don't pick OT titles democratically. People always end up mad their choice wasn't picked.

W101 thread already has a subtitle, you'll see it when the thread goes up in September.

AUGUST! You mean...AUGUST! C'mon! I can't handle the pure joy of playing W101 on my PAL Wii U all alone, without a GAF OT!
