Stunned at the sales of luigi considering it's been 4 months. Makes me excited to get my own copy when I get my 3ds.... but oh goodness there are too many games.... fire emblem and SMT gotta come first. Maybe luigi will be 3rd.
Probably sleeper hit status. Only ads it had was online and the budget for the game couldn't have been that much.
Great for The Last of Us, it deserves its success, bigger than Uncharted and trailing behind God of War 3 is an impressive result.
Also I'm happy that the 3DS is gaining some decent traction, a new successful platform shoulnd't sell than 200k monthly in the US.
PS3 and 360 need price drops immediatly, they've stayed too long without one.

Maybe I'm late on this myself, but I think part of the continued interest is the availability of the (beautifully packaged) physical release. As you said though, that game is pretty darned evergreen.

Yes, but DKCR 3D sold less units than LM2 but is higher up on the NPD chart. Which seems to me to indicate that the Wii version actually sold over 7k copies, probably over 10k since it was #7 compared to Luigi's 10

I think that even with a price drop nintendo can make 100 billion yen just off the 3DS which is about to explode.

Wii U got no sales. And no games either.
This depends a lot on what 3DS margins are.
The 3DS is also not exactly the DS as SmokyDave illustrated above.
So that means AC:NL did ~404K>= retail.

I think you nailed it. What a lot of people overlook in The Sims series is the sandbox, building aspect of it, something that is also the core of Minecraft.

If Animal Crossing can get this much buzz worldwide, Pokemon month is going to be intense.

3DS is did relatively well, good to see, and hope it actually keeps up and then Pokemon would probably take it up another gear.
As for TLOU, I am soooooo pleased to see it doing exceptionally well everywhere! Well done and deserved Naughty Dog!

I meant software not just hardware. Nintendo has a packed lineup plus legs from other games during the holidays

The DS was an unholy beast that had white lightning for blood, but I guess its interesting to see the PSP sales as well. That really is a market thats smartphones and tablets now.

Look at the NPD chart again, though. NPD is counting both Wii and 3DS sales for Donkey Kong Country Returns. That means that yes, the Wii sales were counted in there.

Yes, but if they're losing money on the Wii U and not making much on the 3Ds hardware, they have to make it up on software to a very high degree.

iOS/tablets/etc have absolutely destroyed this market. This is pretty much the highest non-holiday number we'll see for handhelds nowadays.
3DS sold more in NA than in Japan? Wow. AC sold a lot, too.
