So in about 3 weeks, The Last of Us sold almost 1 million copies in the United States alone?

Naughty Gods indeed. Sheezus. I guess I need to get this game.

Ha ha ha haaaaaaa. VITA VICTORY. THE FUTURE OF INDIE GAMES.

On the nose for the last 2 NPD's before we got more confirmations. Don't think he'd keep doing this if he didn't have numeros from somewhere.

Exactly. When a guy is very accurate multiple months in a row, you start to trust his word. I just wish he / John Harker / Creamsugar would say something about PS3 / Vita. :)

Yikes it is wrong. Guess I shouldn't trust wikis.

It's funny cause that page I linked to has a link to the actual numbers which are only a fraction. Weird lol.

Ahhh I see. That's it.

I think Diablo II is the missing game. If the June NPD from back then tracked through July like this year, then most of Diablo II's 1 million sales should be accounted for.

And for a better source for Metal Gear's sales:
On the software side, it's no surprise to see the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4 take the top spot. Interestingly, NPD notes that if combined with sales of the MGS4 PS3 bundle, the game actually sold roughly 1 million units. Since individual sales came in at 774,600, that means roughly half of the 405,500 PS3's sold last month were bundled with MGS4.

Great 3DS HW and SW numbers. Very impressive!!

360 at 140k and the PS3 still didnt beat it. MS have the USA on lockdown!!

Ouya 2k lol. Who was that dude that invested millions and said Nintendo should of bought Ouya?

Ouya expediating the next video game crash? I wonder how this performance will affect their retail positioning. I know GAME in the UK has given real estate to the system on their home page. Maybe they're just looking to diversify and make a quick buck until the PS4 and Xbone arrive.

God can't wait for the nvidia thing to launch.

Oh god... I forgot about that. Someone should find the NeoGAF thread and bump it with the 2K figures data.. :lol

Ok so unless that guy who posted the ouya and wiiu numbers is legit he is starting to be a real annoyance.
Aqua trusts him, so I'm starting to think he's legit now. Esp as he;'s been accurate for a few months now.

So does Iwata have any choice but to price drop the Premium to at least $299 starting tomorrow morning ?, 7k sales per week in a country of 310 million people is a catastrophe of the highest order !.

WiiU has a really nice line up of exclusive games for the rest of the year imo but it just wont sell at $349, esp with people putting in their PS4/XBO pre orders.

I'm awful at math but how would the economics work regarding a price cut, if they went to $249, how many extra consoles would they have to sell per month to make it worth while from a financial viewpoint ?.

If that Ouya number is accurate then that would mean bad things for Android-based consoles. Honestly when I think about it nothing has sold well out the gate since Wii. They've all had to climb their way out of a hole. Really puts a damper on next-gen expectations.

I'm wondering myself.

I definitely think it will be in the cards if their lineup through next year doesn't have an appreciable effect on sales.

I think the timing would be troubling, unless they already have things in motion they would be prepping home console and handheld for similar schedules. 3DS is 3 years old in jan so likely successor going by history for late 2016 or early 2017.

But if they do release in 2015 they could end up failing even harder if tthey go through the 2d mario,3d mario, mario kart, smash, etc. motions again. If the wiiu lineup fails on wiiu it will fail on their next system as well. Basically, nintendo is screwed if the wiiu doesn't pick up because there is nothing more they can really do. This is why relying on these ip so much is so dangerous

They wouldn't even be able to have those games ready by then, considering that they are just now putting those games out on Wii U. They can't afford to launch another console with no games on the horizon.

2D Mario, 3D Mario, Mario Kart and Smash would actually be a promising line-up, if they would actually release all of that stuff in the first year on the market -- among other things. Wii U's main problem is that the notable games are way too few in between. The console has no chance to build up mindshare, since there's just too many months of nothing in between new games.

The Zelda franchise worries me the most. They should have never made Skyward Sword; now the Zelda team is captured in that awkward "release at the end of the generation" schedule which could honestly ruin the franchise in the future. IF Nintendo really plans to launch a Wii U successor early, they should absolutely cancel the Wii U Zelda in favour of a near launch "next gen" Zelda.

Huh. No. It's the second highest selling 1st party game, so below 1.1M (GoW3) but higher than 700k (U3). It's also the highest selling title overall in June since 1995, so higher than 775k (MGS4).

So it's between 775k and 1.1M.

I don't know if I'm confused or you guys are. They said a few days ago that TLoU was at 3.4 million..

Everything that has launched since wii had terrible problems though. Although i think 499 is a terrible problem but i expect great ps4 numbers

X360 still number one? I guess TLoU wasn't the system seller many here thought it would be.

Who really did expect it to sell that many systems? It's seventh year for PS3,It hasn't had price drop for ages and the game itself largely targets the audience that already has a PS3.

What are you talking about? Zelda's release every 3 years or so regardless of the console. At worst you bump it like with Twilight Princess.

That console would truly be Nintendo's Dreamcast.

Thought I'd check out June 2007....

Playstation 3 -- 98.5k
Xbox 360 -- 198.4k
Wii -- 381.8k
DS -- 561.9k
PSP -- 290.1k

So, 852k for handhelds back then, 225 + Vita (15k?) now.

Man.

Kind of an unfair comparison (for the DS at least) considering Pokemon Diamond & Pearl had just came out in April 2007. I'm sure the market has contracted to some extent, but just saying.
