MS is one of the largest publicly traded companies in the world. Wouldn't it be obligated to release information about yield issues on a major hardware release if it were true?
I'm saying this as someone who works in O&G. You'd be surprised at how much 'incidents' gets managed behind the scenes, with very little of it being revealed to the public.
Yes, many of these are extremely minor and small-scale incidents that barely register in the media radar, but the reality is that huge companies are involved with a ton of fire-fighting day in day out, and there's a lot of things they would rather not share with the public, especially if competitor can take a major advantage against it.
