Looks like Mini Squadron
Eh how???
I'm in holiday on iPhone only, I can't seem to find a way to upload an image to NeoGAF, just links.
Just include "pure mode" in all your games. The same gameplay, but a mode where all the power-ups are removed and any perks you've bought in cash moneys aren't usable. 69p IAP to unlock it.
Everyone's a winner.
Except for the people who need a profit in order to eat.
It wouldn't replace the main mode, just run alongside it. So similarly you wouldn't be able to collect generogamecurrency in it, which would make it unappealing to the whales. They'd stick with what they're doing, and everyone else would get this other mode - and those are exactly the kinds of people who wouldn't have spent money on IAP junk anyway.
For true pay to win games, you aren't factoring in that whales or indeed anyone that pays is in the minority and doing to get a gameplay advantage or otherwise look/feel better than the majority. If they are playing in their own small pool, then they have less incentive to pay. There is also less visibility and interaction of those payers by non payers so there is less chance someone will convert to a payer over time.
There is a reason why VIP tables in nightclubs are positioned where they can be seen by the "plebs".
In any case, as it stands there is nothing in any F2P game we have released to date where anything that confers a gameplay advantage or content which can't be accessed by a non payer. The only advantage a payer gets in our games so far is reducing the time it takes to unlock or activate something.
That is going to change. I'll expect your critique when it does.

So, say Jetpack Joyride had this. There'd be the normal mode where you can have all your gadgets and stuff and for your whales they'll be happy to play that one because the scores will always be higher. Then for everyone else there's a game with a level playing field and a purely skill-based leaderboard instead of a cash-based one. Like I say, IAP to unlock it in the first place, everyone wins.
Naturally this is conjecture, but it would be interesting to see what happened if someone were to try it with a compelling game.
I'd argue that Jetpack Joyride is probably the least "pay to win" runner game out of any of them. Most runners, like Sonic Dash, Subway Surfers, and Temple Run, upgrade the "multiplier" by doing missions and therefore increase your score, but it tends to be quite balanced. That said, i've completed all the missions in Sonic Dash and have the highest multiplier, and the revive hearts i have are all from continuing to the daily challenge which nets you a LOT, and i've not paid for anything.
Jetpack's Gadgetry allows for variation for what you want to achieve, like jumping boots or sliding across the level for a little longer, but it's entirely up to the player. Some might feel the boots offer a better chance of not dying compared to the ice slide, there's no garauntee win over another item.
Jetpack's only "pay to win" is the revive, which you can only do once per game (and recently made way cheaper and easy to use) Everything else is random chance via the Final Spin.
I use an app named Picup, uploads images to imgur pretty quickly and smoothly.

Holy shit guys. Off topic but remember freeappslots? That site that gives you free credits to win stuff? I just won 1 million credits with getting 3 iPads on the screen. But they hardly offer any prizes, wtf. I want my free iPad lol.
I assure you if Candy Crush had a separate campaign that is entirely skill-based, with no pay to win, randomness, and spacebucks, it wouldn't be making $700k per day.
I didn't even know they were still running.Holy shit guys. Off topic but remember freeappslots? That site that gives you free credits to win stuff? I just won 1 million credits with getting 3 iPads on the screen. But they hardly offer any prizes, wtf. I want my free iPad lol.

Well said. Justin has always been very informative to this board and in particular this thread. The lashing out and criticizing from toythatkills is completely unnecessary and in actuality he comes off sounding like the 12 year old girl...pretty much a majority of the time he posts in this thread with his incessant whining.Who knows, it's possible he was excited about getting to check out a secret game and thought his Twitter followers would enjoy a minor tease and was not in fact thinking "mwahaha, this will really grind toythatkills's gears!" As unlikely as that seems.
What you're missing is that a lot of people enjoy these kinds of teases, in any industry. "Hey, just got to read an ARC of a sequel to a popular book!" "Just saw a sneak preview of a major blockbuster coming out this summer, lookin gooooood!" "Flying out to preview a secret game!"
Consider that perhaps you are falling prey to the common error of generalizing from the way you react to things to the way everyone else reacts to things. Game journalists do these teases not to annoy you, but because your reaction is atypical and most people enjoy getting to speculate on what the tease might be about. And, yes, it's also fun to be privy to secrets or previews or what have you, and so they likely get a kick out of mentioning that kind of thing on Twitter or whatever.
If it bothers you personally, hey, that's totally your prerogative. But please don't go on the attack against someone for doing it (especially when they're a fellow GAFer) and assume it's somehow nefarious.
Yes, finally!

I'll put up a OT in a bit. A new PVZ is worthy.
Maybe worth mentioning somewhere that beta testers and those who played the New Zealand version have been able to finish all the content without spending a cent and without even losing a single plant on any of the levels (excluding wall/explosive plants)? I'm sure it's not as good as the first, but I worry people will just automatically dismiss it, even though they liked the first. Which is fine, they can do that, but to do it because they think you can only finish levels by spending money is clearly incorrect from the impressions of those who played it. Unless of course they changed the balance for this release.
Nah, I check that site daily and they haven't had anything but games for months. That makes Wario's impotent jackpot win so hilarious to me.I want to say they had iPads up a few weeks ago? Not sure if they're gone for good. Unless you're incredibly close to having enough credits to cash in for an iPad, you're probably better off spending credits on apps as they show up in their store. They usually put up a few of the newly released games early on Thursday, and they're gone pretty fast. Recently got Tiny Thief and rymdkapsel this way.
Yeah sorry. Wonder why this is an iTunes link if the game isn't out yet?I'll pop it in the OP as well, it's a very competent sequel when all is said.
(Six O Clock High seems cool as well, once it's actually out...!)
Yeah it's coming to iOS in the next month or so, with a big update for all platforms!
The current version out is actually the demo/lite version. The full version (iOS release, and updating current platforms), has many more levels, and a few new mechanics.
$2.50, for 100+ levels and an endless running mode.
There'll be a demo too I think

I'm guessing iPads are worth way more than 1 million credits? lol. I literally just ran the thing up like months after inactivity and it just gave me 1 million credits. Crazy. There's only 3 prizes on there right now. Machinarium, Final Fantasy I and II. So lame.
So a game that a few friends and I worked on is finally out today! I'm pretty excited. We put in a lot of work into this thing, so check it out if ya can! It's called The Mouth of Madness and it's for iPhone and Ipad. Any Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Here's the launch Trailer-

GAF mods are anti-iOS, wow
That's really cool you made the game and I hope it does well but damn, it looks so grotesque I have no interest in playing it.
