Both look and sound like they are gonna be awesome to use.
I am a tad worried about the "lack of resistance" in the One's triggers though
That's because it has impulse/rumble triggers.

It gets the 5.1 audio by having more expensive wireless tech: WiFi Direct. So it has way more bandwidth & much better latency than Bluetooth. You'll probably start seeing some kind of attachments besides headsets to the bottom: next-gen chat pad anyone?
Also, the XB1 controller has an infrared emitter in it to communicate invisibly with Kinect. Much better than DS4 since you don't have a crazy light shining off your controller. Kind of funny they include that light but then don't require the PSEye. So I guess PS4 owners are paying for something that they most likely will never use.
How do these compare to WiiU's pad and gamepad?
I can honestly say that both look really good.

Nice spin son. The Xb1 also has a proprietary connector that ms implemented to make money off of all third party headset sales. So now headsets will be more expensive and thanks to that pre mixing, headset features will be limited. Sony on the other hand has a standard 3.5 port that allows any headset to be plugged in. No thanks.
The DS4 itself is a "me to" reaction by Sony, it's more like the 360/One pad than it is like the DS3 and that's a good thing. No, they said enhanced rumble for DS4 at the PS4 unveiling in Feb, whatever that means. Sony so far has not done a me-too reaction with PS4...at least I don't think they have.
It could use improvements. The buttons were too stiff. Why the hell not? Chat Pad on 360 was amazing. I would love a next Gen version. Made typing so much easier, and it didn't negatively affect the balance and didn't add much weight.
That dpad on the Xbox controller still looks awful.

I'm hoping MS releases one for PC. I'm really looking forward to using the new xbox gamepad
http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/12/xbox-one-controller-pc-compatibility-update/the pad will operate with desktops once fresh software hits in 2014. Since the new gamepad "shares no underlying technology with the current Xbox 360 controller," the code will enable it to function with PCs and support games that are playable with the existing [360] pad. It's likely that Redmond will lean on the gear's micro-USB port and wired mode for desktop-compatibility

What's up with these controller videos and the incredibly thick English accents?
My Opinion:
DS4 is a full featured controller for the next generation & Xbox One controller is a redesign controller from the previous generation.
DS4 has Touch , Motion Sensing , Visual Feedback , Audio Feedback. Directional Rumble .
& Xbox One controller has Rumble Triggers as it's big new feature.
I'm not sure why these things are being ignored.
How much do you think an LED costs? Hardly anything is the answer. It gets the 5.1 audio by having more expensive wireless tech: WiFi Direct. The system communicates with the light without the camera. Change colors, blink when you're dying, etc. The camera just added small stuff like being able to track your location during split screen.
The no resistance on Xbone triggers sounds horrifying. There's also no click/resistance/stop point like the 360 controller either. Very odd.
The light is on the back of the controller and points down. How are you going to see it?
It means the rumble motors are independent of each other, so the left can rumble whilst the right does not, or in different intensities of rumble, giving the impression of weight distribution.they said no trigger rumble, but you do get a weight shifted around, what does that mean please?
Nope, shes right. You can recharge your batteries via USB.

So if your right tyre went off the track onto the gravel you'd get right rumble but not left.

Xbox new rumble sounds pretty darn cool

Guerrilla said you can control the combat drone with the touchpad.
Blizzard said they want to use it for D3 inventory management.
Sucker Punch wants to use it for some kind of "finger scanning" minigame, but that sounded very gimmicky.
Other than that I haven't heard of anything, but I can imagine it will be great for UI navigation/browsing the web and stuff like that.
So what are they selling the charge kit for??
I'm not a battery scientist, but I think there's almost no chance of the Xbone controller charging anything but a Play & Charge Kit battery through USB. Most rechargeable AAs are Ni-Mh, while the P&C one is a lithium ion. Like you said, they wouldn't sell a $25 battery if you could just stick any old thing in there and have it charge.
Am I the only one that thinks the "rumble triggers" sound incredibly gimmicky? I obviously haven't used it so I have no idea what its like but to me it just sounds like a bit of annoyance. Not sure I want the rigger vibrating around when I hit the gas or the brake, or the trigger jolting when I take a shot. I so0mehow think it will be a feature that will be hyped up but forgotten by most devs.
