For a lot of people out there it's going to be a next gen COD/FIFA/Insertotherbigmultiplat machine. The fact that it's 100 bucks cheaper than it's rival COD/FIFA/Insertotherbigmultiplat machine is a big deal.
GDDR5/Kinect/Yields/JRPG Moneyhats etc.. mean nothing to huge a precentage of people (and their parents). Some may not have even have heard of gaf -_-

Also people were hyping up the WiiU preorder figures only last year and see how that turned out. If anyone thinks a console race is decided months before they are released then history shows otherwise.

Nah they just probably downgraded the specs because cloud will overcompensate by such a huge amount that it will leave PS4 coughing dust anyway. This way they can have the more powerful platform AND cheaper too! I mean if such device would be to exist then it would destroy the competition without question.

Essentially if they drop Kinect, I'm canceling my Pre Order and maybe I'll pick one up a few years down the line. I'm content with my 360 and my PC has been seeing more usage as of late. Why anyone would want two consoles which are basically exactly the same for yet another generation blows my mind.

Judging by US Amazon pre-orders, why yes, MS will definitely lose (if only for the first 6 months) the US to Sony. What happens next is anyone's guess.

If MS releases a $349 or $299 Kinectless SKU, Sony has pretty much no chance of winning (at least, in NA). IIRC, Sony isn't that profitable as it is, so lowering the price would probably make them lose tons of money.
I'd imagine MS could lower the prices on the console (and maybe even the games) and knock Sony out of the running in some regions.

If you thought people were mad about bayonetta going sequel (?) to wii u you'll be somewhat unhappy about what MS is money hatting with platinum (bayonetta devs).
Other hapanese developers in play but Hideki Kamiya is the only one I am solid on.
Game is NOT for north america or europe btw, which makes no sense buy whatever.

There's no way in hell MS would announce a kinectless SKU more than a few days in advance. If people knew for sure who would buy the more expansive package besides some believers who are probably in the minority...
March/April could be just in time for 2nd tier countries...

The trade-mark is (essentially) just the name expressing that Demon's Souls is the registered mark of a product. In this case a videogame called Demon's Souls.
Owning the intellectual property would refer to the actual product and assets.
If it's the last week of October, they'll have everything except maybe Watch Dogs and COD on day one.

Kinect 2 is a huge investment both in R&D and vision of the system.

Same thing happened when they got the real parts in th 360 and ps3 as well. Except they didn't get that performance back. (Ie "the mgs4 downgrade thread" many years ago). It's normal.

If the rumor of a Kinectless SKU is true then Kinect is dead in the water. I feel bad for the people that pay the extra for a launch console with a peripheral that will eventually not be supported by almost any games.

Yeah, I think that's really what it boils down to, the casuals who make up the majority of buyers are interested in next gen FIFA/COD/BF and the €100/£80 difference is a game plus PS+ for at least 3 months.
Xbone + game + 3 months XBLG = £493/€587
PS4 + game + 3 months PS+ = £414/€484
The same with 12 month PS+ = £436/517
Whichever way you look at it PS4 is better value for people who want to play next gen COD/FIFA/BF and don't give a shit about media functions or Kinect/Move.

I never said PS4 wasn't more powerful, It obviously is (40% More in fact). What I was talking about was actual performance. If third party devs don't take advantage of the extra power, is there any point in the extra power? Considering that even today, Third Party Devs target the lowest common denominator because its cost efficient, why would anyone say otherwise for the future considering that Budgets will increase by alot next gen.
Thats why I said essentially the same. First party will take the power and blow it away and like always third party will loaf around. And considering the vast majority of popular franchises comes from third party, thats what tends to matter.
To be fair, I have been considering dropping the preorder and picking 100% picking it up in April anyways. If I do go that route (which seems likely), Kinect staying inside of the default is the deciding factor to if I just say "screw my purchasing plans"

There's a lot in it for almost every type of gamer. While I do not like every title on that list - the variety makes it strong.

So I'm wondering what happens when you try to play a game that uses Kinect? Since it's no longer required for the console to function will the game have logic to detect if it's hooked up and bypass it or will it say you must connect the Kinect to play this game.
