CBOAT has been good with games leakage, but not so much for hardware/system info. He's never leaked any of MS's 180, and most of the stuff he does leak is 1) unverifiable and 2) has been denied by MS. Such as the yield and SDK problems.
I'm glad he's around for game leakage, but I don't really trust any of his other "insider" info. For all we know CBOAT is probably working for a 1st party game dev at MS and has good info on games, not so much on the system itself.

It's best not to go there. So many people there are just douches. They take things too seriously, and the fact that they try to discredit CBOAT... somehow when he's been more accurate than any of the Shills they take as fact... is just crazy.
That's easy to leak as a game dev since you're provided with a dev kit quite in advance.
Its insane. The amount of shit peddling, denial and intellectual dishonesty I've seen churned is unreal. Most of the arguments or examples used to paint Cboat as inaccurate aren't even true. Eg, he said Sony would not have an online gaming paywall (which is simply not true) etc.

I think it is just best not to collectively generalize a large community as there are some douches and idiots everywhere.
As I understand it, the ESRAM is apparently the limiting factor in terms of how fast the XB1 APUs can be engineered. The low yield means that very few of the chips produced are functional, with most of the errors being related to ESRAM.
I doubt people from reddit make a habit of knowing the who's who in NeoGaf. They don't know who he is and they don't understand what his new info means for their console of choice. I say cut them some slack. It's real easy to get stuff lost in translation here on the good ol' internetz.

Yield is the percentage of of semiconductors that come out working well vs the ones that don't perform up to snuff.

The wafers (large silicon discs) for the ESRAM are coming up with really shitty working amounts. It's typical of tech that's fairly complicated like the ESRAM for that to happen as mass production starts up and techniques are still not perfected. That's all the yield issue alludes to, is the amount they are getting per wafer is less than optimal. I'm not sure what a typical yield rate is on something like this so I couldn't comment on how much is possibly being produced vs what they want.
That's cool, but he did say back about a month ago that launch countries would be scaled back, and lo and behold, launch countries were scaled back. Translation issues make no sense for a lot of those countries, even developers from DICE are calling BS on MS.

Giving out Rare's IP seems like it took long enough. But just imagine if 15 years ago I said, Rare would be making casual sports games, and Killer Instinct would be made by a company that does HD collections.

We don't know specifics. The general facts are that semiconductor manufactoring has to work with extremely reliable rates of working transistors since todays chips consist of billions of them. A single faulty transistor can render the entire chip useless. That's why many low-cost chips actually have the same blueprint as their high-cost cousins but have discrete units with faulty transistors deactivated to increase yields.
The XB1's APU seems to have substantially more transistors compared to the PS4 due to its high-density ESRAM on chip which in case of 6T-SRAM accounts for 1,6 billion transistors. Hence it is statistically more affected.
These are just generalizations, assuming that every transistor can be seen individually and has the same statistical probability of being faulty. The true issues are certainly more complicated, and I have little knowledge about the details of engineering.

I honestly think it's going to either come out the same week that Ghosts does or the week after. It doesn't make since for it to come out the week Black Friday and it doesn't make since to release the week after either. If the PS4 comes out late October than I'd bet that Microsoft would want the One to come out no later than two weeks after it.
We'll have to find someone with some really awesome computer hardware engineering/programming knowledge to explain it. I just know that it's really fast and Microsoft is using it to try and eliminate the bottleneck of slow DDR3 RAM and the CPU/GPU. Again though, I'm not well versed on specifics of ESRAM vs everything else.

i was talking about the release date of Ghost. its in Nov as far as i know. and since the game is coming AFTER the PS4 is released, then it make sense for Sony not including a COD bundle " since the game isn't out"
i mean i would have figured that out long time ago if i thought about it before.
Still haven't read a convincing argument why this changes much, for launch anyway, bar the possibility of a kinectless sku. Sony launching earlier does not decide sales for an entire generation. In fact the fact that MS is moneyhatting jrpgs can only be seen as positive for Xbox One owners or potential owners.

Every date that I've seen for Ghosts say 11/5/13. Granted those are for the 360 and PS3 versions but I bet Activision is just waiting on the final word from Microsoft and Sony. I would also guess that Microsoft will wait until Sony announces the launch date of the PS4 before saying anything for the One.

I imagine if Xbox One's are hard to find due to production issues then Microsoft will simply have to spin that as insane demand for the product. It is the only play they can make there. Too bad gamers will call them on it.
