Yes I understand what your getting at but MS have recently integrated the Mono driver which is said to greatly improve performance and they have upped the GPU clock speed.
A verified Xbox developer on reddit has also said that the latest XDK has improved performance.

And now cboat is stating this 15%-20% performance drop. I simply think he heard the information wrong.

That's my thinking too.

Ironically, all those rumors made me do something I never do : I preordered the Xbox One !
I didn't intend to buy one at launch, but with all the policy changes, I didn't want to miss a potential compensation to early buyers (like the one that people from European countries where it was delayed got).
And after all, I should support the "kinect SKU for everyone". :p

you think the potential ambassador stuff will compensate for a likely $100 cut early next year?

What would MS say, though? 'We released this driver that was supposed to improve performance by 15-20% but instead it dropped performance by 15-20% because of a bug. Whoops! We'll have fixed that by launch, we promise. Please understand.'

Quick question about CBOAT, are his leaks always negative MS info drops or does he give info on Sony/Nintendo too?
I would question the negative part. He leaks the truth (based on his track record), so if you perceive them to be negative then you have a negative perception of Microsoft.

What would MS say, though? 'We released this driver that was supposed to improve performance by 15-20% but instead it dropped performance by 15-20% because of a bug. Whoops! We'll have fixed that by launch, we promise. Please understand.'
Just to make it clear: It will with extremely high probability be fixed by launch.

Stop spreading misinformation Durante. A Xbox one developer on Reddit said the whole issue was false. He/She is directly working on the project. I for one, would trust their authority over some anonymous forum poster.

Yes, because it makes perfect sense for someone from Microsoft to say:

"You know, after all this shit we've been through with Xbox One, disastrous reveal, always online console, being arrogant fucks and then doing a major 180 in every possible regard and confusing the shit out of already pissed off audience, we are proud to confess that we have major yield problems accompanied by SDK performance issues."

So are you saying we shouldn't believe the devs? Personally, I take their word on it.

Because I've never heard of a SDK that developed over time to reduce performance. It makes no sense. I simply don't believe it.

if up to now they were putting in game only features, and the latest version adds all the background stuff for snap, overlays etc? I can see that impacting games until they've tuned it.

I have no idea, I'll see if/when that happens. I still have the possibility to cancel my preorder if necessary (although lazy as I am, now that it's done... :p )

Really unrelated to this thread:

Whats the proper etiquette for double posting? I need to write some final thoughts for Dragon Commander, but I already am the last poster in the thread. Edit my original post or double post to give the thread a bump...I should mention that I'm a bit drunk right now.
Driver != SDK. It is only a part of it, a key part no doubt, but additionally if the SDK isn't even finished yet then it is quite likely that the SDK the developer you refer to has is a build that is running swimmingly whereas the latest internal build that cboat is referring to is running like a dog.

Might well be that he heard that from 1 or 2 developers because it affects their games, but not all games. Or the driver performance has been increased while it lead to performance penalties for users of vanilla DirectX. Everything is possible since we are only guessing. My only point is that both statements (driver performance increase and performance bug) don't have to contradict each other necessarily.

People buy systems for games. If theyre exclusive then its just another game that makes the system and your experience shine. Its why u buy these consoles. I really dont see why theres so much moaning. Sony does it with the next Final Fantasy wheres the outcry then eh? If Microsoft start money hatting so what? You love those games they have targeted then just buy the machine if it has the games u like. Theres no villain in gaming, its all business and these moves are to gain your attention and possibly your money for the games on the system. Stop being drama queens with the lame corporate cheer leading.

So are you saying we shouldn't believe the devs? Personally, I take their word on it.

So then the infinite power of the cloud to boost graphics must be true !
Oh Sony is so done for !

I think cboat doesn't understand math. Obviously he was trying to say the Xbox One got a huge performance boost because of the special sauce that was found.

You add the special sauce at the end, not take it away. How would you even extract sauce from a dish, it's seeped into everything. It only makes sense.

Also: A verified Xbox One developer on reddit confirmed it and he only acts in the interest of truth and has no other motivation.

I think leaks are likely to be negative simply by virtue of being leaks.

Good news aren't generally leaked, they are revealed. With press releases and all that.

Well, you have to believe someone, and I'll take the word from the company.

you mean the same company that told us it was IMPOSSIBLE to remove the DRM, or Kinect because they were integral parts of the hardware/software design?

the same company that told us hardware specs "dont matter" and then bumped the clock speed of their GPU?

should i keep going?

A lot of denial here.

Microsoft employee on reddit sure will say anything bad about their product.

CBOAT is doing this because because he wants to and so far was pretty much flawless.

All companies try to hide their shortcoming's by spewing the good features of a product. Personally, I would go with the source that has consistently given good information. If you dont trust CBOAT, take the time to look through his post history.

Anyone got a list of CBoaT's next-gen scoops, with indications of whether they came to pass (or not)? I know he's accurate, I just wondered HOW accurate.

I don't see why it's so hard to believe a 15%-20% performance loss in the SDK.
I would attribute that to them implementing all the features that they have promised, and making sure that they work and are stable. When everything is implemented they will optimize it as much as they can up until launch. It isn't anything strange, it's just how development usually works.

A PR person responding to rumours or is he responding, because those are not rumours, but facts?

Anyways, since when does Microsoft respond to rumours?

The developers aren't posting information on the internet out of goodwill, anything that they're publicly posting is PR. They want you to buy their product.

Maybe that 'confirmed' Xbox One developer should anonymously post cryptic messages instead. That seems to work really well in terms of credibility.

A lot of people believe, cboat works for MS, too. However, he's highly credible, since he seems to hate Microsoft...

I think this is related to Thuway's posts about the SDK -> retail transition having downgrades because the SDK is overpowered compared to the retail configuration. If the latest SDK ringfences the correct amount of power rather than the unlimited amount that was previously allowed from a 7970 and 12GB RAM then the slowdown makes sense, and matches up to what Thuway said about E3 -> release having games looking worse.

Oh, come on. You can do better than this.

If they had margins for improving the clock speed they would have been stupid not to do so.

This point is fabricated at best.

For all you know they're the same person.

I'm not entirely sure how you get that cboat hates MS; especially if you think he works there. More like he sees how fun it is to leak stuff so he does it, I wouldn't be surprised if he reads threads after posting them to see the Console Warz posts, some of them are pretty entertaining ('any developer who accepts MS money deserves to die').

Or yeah maybe he works at MS and hates it and soon he'll reveal who he is and Sony will employ him instantly. Believable. Everybody wants somebody who airs dirty laundry working for them.

If that Platinum game funded by MS is Vanquish 2, damn, I'll get an Xbone, if it's not, then I'll have to wait and see it.
Who am I kidding, I'll def. get it now

whats fabricated about it?...they said specs didnt matter...then upped their specs...nothing i said was fabricated...

i see you also conveniently left out the rest of my post...i guess you couldn't fabricate a nonsensical response to that part...
