Guerilla: Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer is 60 FPS, singleplayer is 30 FPS

Awesome, awesome news if they manage to hit 60 fps. Buy I understand that's a design decision, not something you hit or miss.

between getting this and BF4 has been a hard decision. Both look fucking awesome.

Good, gameplay > graphics if you can't have both (and you never can on consoles)

Sure you can, good it just relative to the viewer. If you're a PC elitist (which judging by what little I know of you, you are), then no of course not. These consoles right now do not have 12 gigs of 384bit GDDR5 with SLI GTX Titans. They will not be doing 1440p @ 100 FPS. We get it.

Gameplay in many games is good, and the framerates are damn fine too. Your standards are simply too high.

Maybe that explains why the DOF and motion blur were kept to a minimal in the trailer compared to single player.

I'm not a FPS guy, terrible at twin stick everything, but this game is like the launch eye candy go to game for me, getting harder to resist.
Is there any class like medic in team fortress 2 that does not need good aiming?

I'd be in the dick
Free DLC, solid improvement in visuals, awesome new multiplayer options and now 60fps in multiplayer. Good going GG.
Yep. I was kind of down on the game after the E3 showing but after playing a lot of KZ2 and 3 a couple weeks ago and all of the Gamescom news my hype is back in full force.

You just can't stop yourself, can you?

It shouldnt have been acceptable for awhile.

Thank good they are going for 60fps on MP atleast. I'm a little more inrerested now.

I honestly don't think Killzone is a shooter that needs 60fps. I'd have preferred blown out visuals, but I suppose 60fps for multiplayer is a good compromise.

Insane For Sony

In case you were being serious with this (I can't tell anymore), it's completely false. The best looking games on consoles of the last few years also tended to be the ones that had the best gameplay. I can't be bothered to list examples, it's too self evident.

Not sure if posted..and not sure if this is where to post it, but MP will have 8 mission types, 4 of which are new to KZ.

Sounds good to me, I just hope they don't include some sort of stupid search and destroy with 1 life. I swear that objective gets completed maybe once out of every 10,000 games x.x

If it looks like it did in the screenshots, then it's not like visuals were all that compromised. These multiplayer screens look better than the single player shots from before.

This is great news but I think GG and Evo expected their competition to shoot for 30fps for all modes before E3. Then catching word that BF4, Ghosts, and FM5 are all going for 60 fps probably triggered the motion to pursue 60fps.

Might as well post this here!
XP has been thrown out the window, and instead of the usual levelling, progress is tied to a variety of challenges. Every gun, character class and game mode has its own, and put together there are over 1500 of them. Completing the challenges is rewarded with cosmetic stuff like new skins for the guns and characters alike, but there are also some more useful prizes like different ammo types and add-ons for the weapons. The game's director wanted to emphasize though, that players won't be able to gain the upper hand based simply on those, but that in the end it'll be individual skill that decides the winner.
We only got this short taste of the action, but Ter Heider promised that they will be releasing a lot of new info about the game during the autumn. The final product will feature, among other things, bots for both on and offline bouts, new downloadable maps, as well as clan-support, which is meant to take advantage of the PS4's Share features. On release, Killzone: Shadow Fall will feature 10 maps, and the later additions will be released free of charge.

If the gameplay is good I'm getting a PS4 even sooner than I thought I would. This is great news considering how good the game looks.

Doesn't feel weird going from COD to KZ2.

Have modern gamers lost the ability to adapt or something? Controllers, framerates, resolution...

I was just talking to a Dev that said when they focus tested variable resolutions (1080p, 720p) and variable frame rates (60,30) the overwhelming majority noticed the resolution compared to the frames. GG is doing this purely for the COD crowd

.. and Titanfall, next halo, Blacklight retribution, Next MGS ,..

Yeah i hope we are done with 30fps MP shooters

I think Guerrilla wants the multi to be a serious contender this launch (which it has a looooong road ahead) if the market shows that people value 60FPS in multi-player (hard to tell because COD is the big one at 60, Halo and Battlefield not so much), then they have to follow suit.

Honestly this is the perfect solution to every problem. You can decimate your competition in trailers thanks to the blistering visuals in the single player, and you can have the standardized multi-player 60FPS.

Same to some extent. I think if they kept 30 FPS multiplayer shooters, they should do some awesome effects to go along with it. Imagine a shooter where your gunning down people in like the middle of a lightning storm with obscene rainfall. That would be awesome lol.

Incredibly Naive
I really wish the october date was true, now KZ will have to compete with BF and COD. It seems GG has made all the right moves so far and could really see this game becoming quite popular.

Holy hell, I'm actually starting to get excited over this game. Not sure if that's a good thing after how depressing KZ3 MP turned out to be since I loved 2 so damn much and basically played nothing but for nearly 2 years.
I'm hoping we'll at least get a beta or a demo or something as I'm not putting down €70-€80 on things that are promised by Guerrilla anymore. Fool me once...

Yeah the visuals are insane. Best looking next gen game so far.

I'm with you.
The visual of Shadowfall is incredible and I cannot wait to play this game.

I still don't get why some people hate this game ...
I mean, if you dislike something, why bother to spent time over it ?

You should visit some Nintendo threads and see what the other fanboys do to those day in and day out. Not a pretty sight. This thread is nothing compared to those.

I just assumed everything was going to be at 60 fps, everything in the game should run at that framerate, no excuses. Don't get me wrong, I am not one of those people who think 60 fps is always necessary but it is essential in the first person perspective.

I know, this thread is nothing compared to other threads, I just took the chance to point this out.
But I don't want to go off topic :)

I still disagree, DICE released an article recently stating the limitations you get on your ram pool when rendering at 60FPS. You simply cant access it quick enough and it becomes an instant bottleneck. I do think the tradeoff is worth it for the Multi-player, but I think it's just to severe a price to pay for the single player. You'll get much more access to power features by going 30 FPS

On this note why do you consider it less vital for single player? Or more vital for multiplayer?

You've got almost the exact same suite of actions and controls.

I don't think it's necessarily less vital for the single-player, which is why I wish 60fps would be standard across the board for games. But the single-player portion of games will always be capable of more graphical prowess than that of the multiplayer component due to the fact that most multiplayer games provide for a less controlled experience from the developers, which means that the stability of the multiplayer is very important given all of the unknown quantities that can creep up while playing it as opposed to a story-driven campaign mode. So if upgrading the frame rate to 60fps means one less avenue of failure for the game online, then I'm all for it.

There's also the fact that nearly every other competitive FPS coming out later this year (Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4) will be 60fps, so I feel like this is Guerrilla Games' way of leveling the playing field to a certain extent.

I might actually pick it up if they hit that target. Was never a fan of the choppy laggy 30fps feel of KZ in multiplayer. They probably won't, and ill probably never play the game, but it would be really nice if they could.

So now what's Activision's excuse for CoD having bottom-tier last gen graphics? Amazingly accurate fish AI?

Devs making graphically better games but not providing feature parity keep on giving them an out.

4 player local splitscreen (30fps on PS3, forgot how it is on 360, might end up being the same on ps4,xb1), 2 player splitscreen online (60fps). That's what.

Seems like the overhead was always mostly there. The E3 forest demo ran with an unlocked framerate, and a good deal of it was hitting 60 fps. I think the design decision to go with more open areas is probably what's keeping them at 30 for single player, but with some optimization, 60 fps becomes possible in MP due to it taking place in smaller arenas.

Doesn't need to be a true, perfectly locked 60 to get that 60 fps "feel". COD on consoles has never been a true, locked 60, and nobody has seemed to notice.
