Guerilla: Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer is 60 FPS, singleplayer is 30 FPS

I like this, SP being 30fps lets them go nuts on the graphics. 60fps online will be great for fast past MP matches.

Holy hell, I'm actually starting to get excited over this game. Not sure if that's a good thing after how depressing KZ3 MP turned out to be since I loved 2 so damn much and basically played nothing but for nearly 2 years.
I'm hoping we'll at least get a beta or a demo or something as I'm not putting down €70-€80 on things that are promised by Guerrilla anymore. Fool me once...
Since Eric Boltjes is back for this one, it should be stellar. He was lead designer for KZ2, left during kz3, and is now back for shadow fall.

I played KZ2 a lot. 3 not so much.

Free DLC, solid improvement in visuals, awesome new multiplayer options and now 60fps in multiplayer. Good going GG.
Yea! I am still waiting on reviews, but this past week has really won me over hard. This is shaping up to be an absolutely fantastic title to launch next gen :)

Might as well post this here!
Depending on how these challenges are implemented, I will be all over that shit.

At least they got it right.

30 FPS will bells and whistles > than 60 FPS dumbed down graphics for SP
Multiplayer at 60 FPS has a true benefit to the gamer.

I'm with you.
The visual of Shadowfall is incredible and I cannot wait to play this game.

I still don't get why some people hate this game ...
I mean, if you dislike something, why bother to spent time over it ?

I think it is a lot to do with how the press reacts to such games. Nearly every single press person was like okay more KZ, next. Yet a CG teaser of Halo, oh boy! I think Sony has a very hard time generating pre-release buzz with their games among the English speaking press. Even The Last of Us was getting some ho hum comments and such prior to release. It feels like a lot people make up their minds on games well before they even picked up the controller.

Hopefully that changes throughout next gen. It is promising hearing Infamous SS get a lot of buzz, even from places that didn't even bother playing the first 2.

Just started thinking.

With the way cod is going next gen wise, killzone might be partially safe due to the simple fact it looks more "next gen is here" then CoD....maybe.. maybe it might survive with BF after all

Incredibly Naive
For all 60fps fans it'sgood news that both Drive club devs and KZ devs have come out and said they're targeting 60fps. Even if they don't reach that goal, it's clear sony has stressed this going forward after seeing the response out there to it.

I think KZ has a good shot though, it's still a ways out and it's already hitting 60 at different points, Drive club is another story.

Sony are winning me over with their exclusives now.

Drive Club PSN+ Edition for free, upgrade to full version for cheap and also get 3 months PSN+ for free

Killzone Shadowfall more open and tactical single player, 60FPS Multiplayer, all future DLC free

Rime looks like my type of game

inFamous Second Son just keeps on looking better and better every time they show it.

Res0gun looks great plus it's free with PSN+

Planetside 2 looks like a blast and it's F2P

If the game sessions were really played in 60 FPS, why isnt the press reporting this? IGN, Eurogamer and gamespot were mute on this.

Hope it's true and they nail it at launch.

You missed Warframe.
Game is totally free, and very fun.

hate this kind of thing. would rather have the be game either all 30 or all 60.
I do agree with you, as swapping framerates is really horrible. The game itself is better off with the multiplayer at 60fps though. It really is hard to compete when your competition has a huge reach over you, but that gap is closed now. Hourly the next one will be 60fps both ways.

So it's true... The gamerysde video from Gamescom clearly showed Shadow Fall running with an unlocked framerate that could hit 60fps.

I guess they'll keep it that way -- just don't expect a locked 60fps.

Great news! Love that 60fps feel. I will get this day 1. Is it too much to hope for 4player v bots offline play? I am tired of cod:blops being my only option when freinds come over.

I was worried about the multiplayer at first, but this seems pretty awesome and the fact that they're focussing more on challenges than XP is something I really like.

One of the things I am going to miss is the weigth of the control, which I already missed in KZ3 as well. But if the game is as good as I think it looks, that'll make up for that for me.

It is interesting that this holiday season. Its sony with an exclusive FPS not MS. I cant recall last time MS didnt have an exclusive big shooter (Halo/Gears)for holiday season. Really surprising.

Not really, SP has a lot more stuff to load and switch into memory and the like.

Anyway, between this and the new Warzone customization, Guerilla really seems to have been listening. And that KZ2 MP guy that came back from Splash Damage is doing good work.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Killzone 2's "weight" was a direct result of input lag, which a lower fps does contribute to.

The latest patched version of Killzone 2 actually has an option to turn of that artificial weight/lag.

/edit: nevermind, just saw that the article is not the one that I anticipated and actually talks about the patched version of KZ2.

Why not expect locked 60fps? They said that's what they're targeting, which means they aren't at that point yet, whichs means what we are seeing today isn't what they want by launch. And the fact they're getting in that ballpark in this Gamescom build means they could get to that locked 60fps by launch.

I was playing both KZ2 and 3 last week. They both have weighty controls intentionally, even in high precision mode. Same with Mercenary and several people are saying SF is the same. Framerate and weight are unrelated.

No, that's to reduce the amount of deadzone in the analog sticks

IF they can do 60 FPS in the MP, then why not the SP?

Isn't the MP more intensive and draining on a systems power?

30fps in SP will allow them to turn all the bells and whistles up to 11. Plus, SP is generally much more controlled and therefor easier to "lock in" at a target framerate. Aiming for 30fps in MP means it could drop to the 20's, while aiming for 60fps means it could drop into the 40's-50's, which is much more bearable in fast paced online action.

I hope its a locked 60 in the MP.

Framerate drops are not good in a MP game.

30...60 I don't care really

as long as there's no dip below 30fps ever then all games could be 30fps and I would be just fine with that.

I don't think there's any co-op in the game at all? I've not heard anything that suggests there is. I feel your pain, I wouldn't mind some off-line co-op for when my Nephew's comes round.

After the last trailer and stuff I became a lot more interested in this game. The abilities and stuff look really cool, all of the customization looks great, and the game is gorgeous.

Now I hear MP may be 60FPS...

If that 'weight' thing is absent from MP, I will probably get this over BF4 now.
