Assault Android Cactus PSVita/PS4/PC.

The game must be 60fps, it's a "Blue Sky" style experience and I don't remember any bright vibrant arcade games that said 30fps was ok :)

So yes, all versions are targeting 60fps, right now the PC build cracks 60fps on an Intel HD4000 on low settings 720p.

slap
paintinator from the MGS DLC
that timer box-bomb from LBP1
grappling hook for quick movement to and away, or pulling enemies to thin the herd

Haha we actually started thinking just before you posted this and paint gun makes total sense.

Not that we'll have sackboy, but it would fit :)

I don't know what I was expecting from that title but this looks awesome. Seems like something my friend and I would definitely buy for co-op.

Also kinda misleading title and OP because I didn't realize there was a PC version until I read the rest of the thread...

Responsibility for the character designs is all on me! I'm sorry to hear you're not keen for them, although If it's any consolation the big heads make it easier to keep track of your character during gameplay.

no problem since a lot of stuff is happen on the screen at the same time to notice.... good game though will probably buy

honorless

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.
TOO CUTE

I love that the main character's name is Cactus.

Will the characters have slightly different endings in singleplayer? Like Batrider or something? (...okay probably not that silly)

not moe enough imo

this is a joke okay

I think it could be more stylized, crazier hair design or eye shape, also maybe exaggerated body proportion too with bigger hand and feet like megaman powered up character or some sd gundam proportion, I think my least favorite part of the current design is just the proportion between body and head imo, the body actually look a bit more normal sized and suddenly the huge head.

although it really doesn't matter during gameplay since it's top down view and you don't really see the body from that camera angle.

The title made it sound like some smart phone bullshit game, but this looks promising. Other than the stuff Housemarque has done, the field for shooters is wide open on Playstation.

So many games for PS4, it would be great to have a list of ALL PS4 games announced so far.

I bet its more than 100+ titles o_O

Each character has unique dialogue as you progress through the game in the game so it's possible :)

oh wow, that was great, I like the 2d art a lot more than the final 3d model.

is the game are going to have any kind of cutscenes where you'll see the 3d character model fully? if not, I think using 2d art for your game cover could be cool.

The plan is to bookend the game with an animated intro and outro... although when a get a chance I want to do some proper illustrations of the characters that I'm hoping will be useful for marketing material so it might end up making sense for the cover!

The design sketches are cool.
Meet The Androids

Lovely. I hope this comes out soonish.

Excellent. Keep it up. I'm already sold. 1080p 60 or 4k 30fps?!

I'm kidding cut me some slack :p

Another awesome Vita game I must own. Very nice that it'll be a cross buy too. Here this thread needs some gifs:

When I saw the title I though it was a game for Android/iOS

I don't know but I suggest removing the Android name from the title, I skipped the thread many times thinking it was for iOS/Android and ported to PS4/Vita.

Game look phenominal by the way, I'll buy it day one on PS4. Just about time I get pleasantly shocked by a quality of a small indie game. really great job guys.

Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with the character design. I find it addresses the "female protagonists in games" thing perfectly whilst avoiding any kind of sexism angle that would typically come with it.

Admittedly I wasn't super set on them when I first saw it a month or two (or more?) ago, but if things are more stylized then it either becomes a love/hate thing or they turn into generic shmup/JRPG/anime characters. Here they're clearly more westernised, but not stereotypically so.

Plus, this way it's easier to get kids (specifically, my nephews) to play them :D

We had a lot of younger gamers check the game out at PAX which was awesome, being inclusive in the designs was an important goal for Tim.

I dig the art style myself, and in-game I think is where it really shines when everything is easily readable and clear. One guy makes all of the art while doing all of the programming and I couldn't be prouder of what he has accomplished :)

I'm not much of a big fan of twin stick shooters but this looks interesting, so will keep an eye on it.

Very interested in this, it looks heaps fun! Didn't know this was playable at PAX Aus, damn. Please tell me the in-game soundtrack will be similar to that trailer. =o

Congrats, Paz. I've seen you post your progress gifs on the Indie Programming thread and I've admired your team's work from afar. Love how everything looks so smooth amidst the chaos. Great to know this is coming to Vita.

It is :D trailer music and ost are both done by Jeff van dyck who is a super talented composer going all the way back to his work on the first need for speed game. In-game the music is actually dynamic with multiple layers depending on a calculated "intensity" meter, so if you're crushing it or the screen is filling up it will sound more rich and intense.

Awesome to see devs in the thread. Day one just because of that lol. I don't really see a problem in the character designs and the levels/arena designs are awesome. How does the interactive decor works? I mean, how can we know which part is gonna disappear and stuff? Is there I.dedication somewhere that the tiles are gonna move? Can't really figure it out in the trailer. Seems random.. Anyway, keep up the great work, if you guys need any video editing help or something I'd be happy to help for free.. Been doing the dudebro trailers and other stuff

I hope all these Vita games don't end up releasing all at once or my gaming budget is going to balloon out of proportion for the next year. So many games. I shouldn't have doubted.

It really does look like a lot of fun. I actually really dig the art style, it's charming. Holly is my favorite out of the four, I think. Definitely going to keep an eye out.

For that particular level it uses 6 pre-set block patterns and changes between enemy waves, I made an algorithm that makes sure you cannot be blocked out by the level, essentially building a bridge for each character between shifts (you can see it in the gig as the bridges fall away when the character walks off each piece that is meant to be a hole). Thanks for the offer but my pre-games profession was in video work so it's a nice side project of mine on cactus :)

Holly is awesome but there will be 8 character once everything is unlocked, I hope some of them pique your interest with more zany aesthetics and weapons!

I'm not a fan of the character design, the characters look like these fake anime designs we had a lot in the 90's...

The game seems to play well though, that's a good enough reason for me to buy it.
