Depends on how the cloud saves work it could be awesome for a vita owner.
Shu Yoshida confirmed on Twitter that you can have your PSN profile on the Vita and Vita TV. If you have PS+, the cloud saves should work flawlessly.

Don't know how I feel about this as a OG Vita owner. I love the idea to get more people into the ecosystem, but I can't see the benefit for someone who already owns a system. Any help here guys? I'm still a little confused as to what it is exactly even after reading the information.
Do you have any interest in apple tv? Do you want to stream ps4 games to another tv? The gaming tagged onto it is just icing on the cake. If you have a Vita and want this kind of steaming service it seems like an easy choice to go with sony over the others.
I don't blame you, it didn't offer anything new for people who already own Vita and prefer the portable form of Vita.
this new VTV is really for people who want to play Vita games for cheap, plays on tv, or for ps4 owner who like the idea of ps4 extension to other tv.
Ok, so with VTV, I can take out my Vita cart and put it on the TV to play, can use it o access PSN and play PS1/Vita games and watch media, and it works as an extender for PS4 so if I had the PS4 in the living room and wanted to use it in the bedroom, the VTV would work like Remote Play. Am I getting the gist of it?
That opening few minutes to the Feb reveal is still incredible.I don't know where this belongs or if someone's already pointed this out, but our own FamousMortimer points out on his blog that if we were listening we would have realized that Andrew House talked about the PS Vita TV all the way back at the February PS4 reveal:
http://doddscientifics.com/2013/09/10/vita-tv-hinted-at-during-ps4-february-reveal-event/
the video is embedded there, skip to the 5:20 mark and have a listen. Sony's strategy for this launch is just insanely focused and on point.

But it's still a vita,Sony did an Apple and repackage something and made it cheap to produce and people are going crazy for itOh I know, but I fear that Vita TV will simply outsell Vita several times (10x20 times) more during the same time frame
The hold against light gimmick in AC3: L didn't actually use the camera, it used the gyros. It was the reason why it was so buggy.
A patch for Uncharted could just do the same. "Hold your controller up against a light source", most people will have light above them so it will probably work.
It's a one time thing anyway.

It just a none portable vita which is crazy considering Japanese love for portables.
And in addition people without a Vita portable might pick one up for playing on the go.
I don't know where you got this from, but it is not true. They both use the camera for the light trick. The reason it is so buggy is because it sets the 'normal' light level when the puzzle starts. It takes an instant measure of it, then asks for an increase. In all cases, you can 'cheat' by covering the camera - so it is pitch black before starting the puzzle. It will complete almost instantly when you allow light onto the camera. You don't need to twist the unit around at all, or even move it. This is not the work of gyros.
The same applies for the puzzle that uses the gyros to move the platform the ball is on. It takes a measure of 'flat' when you start the puzzle, and so having it flat when you start makes it non buggy and fine. The problem arises because people are not holding the console flat when starting the puzzle. A small UI prompt should have been used in this case to inform the user, but it was not.
The vitaTV is not a handheld though.
I need Sony to announce it for NA, now.
Yah and it's weird that they still didn't announce it for NA/EU, This thing should be for the western market first since Japan is all about handheld (and not so much into TV gaming).

new model is japan only too atm, maybe their waiting to sell out the old stock before announcing the new stuff here
also retailer confidence in anything vita is probably super low so sony's manufacturing of this stuff is also probably low volume (comparatively). Staggered launch lets you fill early demand in one territory while also gauging demand in others.
Wont Vita games look really crappy blown up on a big TV?
That is before you start getting into games like Gravity Daze for example that run at a lower resolution than what was native on the Vita of course.Well the Vita screen is greater than 480p. Then scaled to 720p/1080i.
There were some 360 and PS3 games that were barely better than the 960x544 that the Vita produces. It should look ok.
I would very much appreciate Amazon in the US putting up a page so I could click that buy button.. thanks

Still way higher res and higher quality than say PS2 or Wii games.
it is a vita though, it makes no difference to developers whether they buy a handheld or tv version

a) Heavily market Vita TV to general consumers. Keep injecting obvious potentials to their brains -"Watch TV and play Playstation Games for only $100!!", and leave extra info like requiring DS3 to work or expensive memory card to retailers. All they need is exposure to Vita TV name.
etc
Amazon Japan won't export video game hardware or software.I'm curious to know if any of those sales were people outside of Japan that can't wait for the Vita TV to come to their respective regions.
Just upload the save to the cloud then download on the other device. Games already do that between vita and ps3.What will be really interesting is if they allow (or rather are able to) instant switch between digital games from PSV to VTV so you can go from on the go to home and not miss a beat.

Okay, then. It seems this thing is REALLY popular in Japan. I hope it gets the same love when it's released elsewhere. Sony needs to advertise this well. Unfortunately, that seems to always be their weak spot. If it comes out in the US they should bring it on morning talk shows, late night talks shows, etc.

Okay, so I get that you can stream your ps4 to your vita tv via remote play,
but can you stream your vita tv to your ps4? Meaning if my ps4 and vita tv are hooked up in different rooms, could I play my vita games via my ps4?
Cause that would be nice

I don't get it. What's your goal?
Why do you want to play vita games via ps4 ?

COD: Black OPs run at 960x544 on the PS3. Exactly the vita's resolution. It'll be fine.

why would you want to go through your ps4? it would be just the same as playing it through a tv?
Unless you mean so you dont have to click a couple of buttons on the tv remote and instead click through a menu on the ps4?
The idea is that if I have the two devices set up in different rooms, can both devices access each other's full game library?
I ask because it would be equally nice to access my Vita games when it isn't in the room as it would be for my ps4 games.
That's sort of Reggie's thing, the talk shows and all. I don't recall ever seeing someone from Sony on a talk show.
Actually, yeah, I saw the guys from Guerrilla showing Killzone to Jimmy Fallon, but that's about it.
